00:02This is the moment that Malayalam superstar Mamoti, known fondly by his fans as Mamoka,
00:08was awarded the Padma Bhushan. An actor par excellence, a superstar in Malayalam cinema,
00:15an icon, Mamoti finally being elevated from a Padma Shri that he had been honoured with
00:21back in 1998 to now the Padma Bhushan in 2026. This is the moment when he received the honour,
00:29his son Durkar Salman also there to witness the historic moment.
01:01And the other big headline moment from the Padma Awards, our Madhavan, an actor who we've
01:07seen for the last many, many decades shining in so many different roles, being awarded for
01:12the first time the Padma Shri. So this is a highlight for him clearly as he entered there
01:17where he was seen seeking the blessings of Prime Minister Modi. I walked up to the stage
01:22to receive the honour.
01:30Shri Mati ranjani Sriri Madhuman ranganathan, tala abhi nahit
01:46Good evening, Hello and welcome here watching Super 6 here on India voiled today. I am Akshta
01:50Ananda Gopal. We started off with a brief glimpse of the Padma Awards ceremony and some of the
01:55highlights of the Padma Awards so far. But over the next one hour here on Super 6, we're going
01:59to, as always, get you the big headlines coming in from the southern states. And of course,
02:03on the show, our focus is going to be Chief Minister Vijay's first speech in the Assembly.
02:09After a long time, the Assembly proceedings being live-streamed fully. And so that gave us an
02:14opportunity to directly compare the leader of opposition, Udeniti Stalin, and Chief Minister
02:18Vijay's speeches. The DMK is staging a walkout during Chief Minister Vijay's speech. So we'll
02:23get you all of the action, all of the highlights, including that viral gesture that Chief Minister
02:27Vijay resorted to at the end of his speech. Also coming up on the show, the Tirupara Kundram
02:32controversy is back in the spotlight. Why? Remember that Madure Hill Shrine that's been in the centre
02:39of a controversy in the last many months over the lighting of a lamp? Well, the Vijay government
02:43has now moved the Supreme Court challenging the Madras High Court's order. We'll get you all
02:48of those details. I'm Akshita Randa Gopal. Here are the headlines first.
02:57Vijay versus Udeniti. War of words in Tamil Nadu Assembly. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister levels
03:02big corruption. Charge on DMK says taskback revenue diverted to party funds. Tamil Nadu
03:08Chief Minister also mimics former CM Stalin. Udeniti hits back, says stop acting, start governing.
03:20Glaring lapses emerge after deadly inferno in Lucknow. No emergency exit or stair space. Building
03:27lacked necessary permits. Four officials suspended. Four accused also arrested. FIR registered against
03:33India's building owner. Shocker from Maharashtra's Pune. Woman pushes her fiancé from the famous
03:45Lohagarh fort accused and her lover arrested by Pune police. Two days after a neat retest was finally
03:58conducted across the country. Man in the center of the storm speaks to India today. Education
04:02Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accuses Rahul Gandhi of fear-mongering among students.
04:24An India's unsung heroes honored the Rashtrapati Bhavan actors Mammo T. R. Madhavan Singh Alka Yagnik former team India captain
04:32Rohit Sharma conferred with the Padma awards.
04:46A whole lot of drama in the Tamil Nadu Assembly as Chief Minister Vijay turned the house into a political
04:53stage, taking on critics, rivals, even recreating a Stalin gesture.
04:58Let me just show you what I'm talking about. The two images of what Stalin had done and how Vijay
05:05also used it in his assembly address.
05:08He wrapped up his assembly address in this manner. What am I talking about? Well, this is the image of
05:13what a couple of months ago, before the election, Stalin had done.
05:17What was the context? This was during the seat-sharing talk. So there were a lot of hiccups, a lot
05:21of roadblocks.
05:22Finally, when it was done and the media was a certain distance away, the journalist there asked the then Chief
05:28Minister Stalin what happened.
05:30He stood up on his SUV and that gesture went viral, where he essentially said it's done, everything's in place.
05:37That particular clip went hugely viral during the election times in Tamil Nadu, during election season.
05:45Vijay now has also used that. The Chief Minister used it to the assembly today, not to say no seat
05:51-sharing talks are finished,
05:52but the DMK is finished. That was the messaging. He took permission from the assembly speaker before going ahead and
05:58making the gesture saying,
05:59I wish the DMK was in the house. Why did he say that? Because the DMK, much before that, had
06:04already staged a walkout from the assembly,
06:07taking offence to the Chief Minister's comments against the DMK, speaking of corruption.
06:12When he spoke of corruption, when he suggested that a lot of the TASMAC funds, the kickbacks, were going into
06:19the party.
06:20That's what led to the DMK staging a walkout. So you've seen a lot of barbs, counter barbs being fired.
06:26That right there, the two images of Stalin doing it months ago and now Chief Minister Vijay going ahead and
06:32mimicking that gesture
06:33to signal the end of the DMK is the biggest viral moment, the biggest talking point of what transpired in
06:40the assembly.
06:41But let me give you some sense of what really happened. If you missed Chief Minister Vijay's speech, we've got
06:46you covered.
06:46Here are those highlights.
06:51Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Joseph Vijay, delivered a no-holds-barred speech in the assembly on Tuesday,
06:59taking aim at critics who dismissed TVK as merely an actors party.
07:24The Chief Minister reminded the House that TVK fought alone,
07:28bagged 35% votes and emerged as a single largest party.
07:51Chief Minister Vijay then switched to attack mode, accusing the previous DMK government of diverting TASMAC revenue towards party funds
08:00and promised corruption-free governance.
08:26Amid strong criticism by opposition, Chief Minister Vijay hit back, saying,
08:31the crime did not begin on May 10, when TVK came to power and further vowed to strengthen law and
08:37order.
09:03And the drama did not end there. Vijay triggered laughter in the house after narrating an anecdote and recreating MK
09:11Stalin's trademark hand-slashing gesture.
09:14In response, Udayanidi said that while Vijay was asking about Stalin's whereabouts, a wife was still searching for her missing
09:22husband in the Chengalpattu court.
09:25Leader of opposition Udayanidi Stalin also hit back, accusing the Chief Minister of dodging key questions and demanding proof for
09:33his corruption allegations against the DMK.
09:38He added that Vijay appeared to have come straight from a shooting spot and has turned the Assembly into a
09:44cinema theatre.
10:04In Tamil Nadu, politics and cinema have always shared a script. Today, the Assembly added yet another dramatic chapter.
10:12With Pramod Madhav and Anaga Keshav in Chennai Bureau Report, India Today.
10:42This prompted a response from Udayanidi Stalin, who took to social media to say a wife is looking for her
10:48husband in court.
10:49Another taunt at Chief Minister Vijay over his private affairs and what's been happening really as far as his divorce
10:56proceedings are concerned.
10:58So you're seeing it getting ugly, downright personal, clearly at this point.
11:02After Chief Minister Vijay highlighted the fact that Stalin is not in the Assembly because he lost from the Kalutur
11:07seat,
11:07Udayanidi took to social media to take a jibe at Chief Minister Vijay over his marriage.
11:13Take a look at exactly what Vijay had said in the Assembly, prompting that response from Udayanidi Stalin.
11:46Thank you very much.
12:10Okay, so that moment is what, in fact, has led to Udhaniti Stalin now taking a jibe
12:16at Chief Minister Vijay and over his marriage.
12:20So you're seeing clearly that between these two leaders, it's becoming very, very personal.
12:24They're taking each other on one-on-one.
12:26Let me open this up. Joining us on this broadcast, we've got Dr. Yarini PM, spokesperson of the DMK,
12:31Sumansi Raman, political analyst, and Satya Kumar, national spokesperson of the TVK.
12:36I'd like to begin with Mr. Sumansi Raman, really, on what we've seen in the Assembly today.
12:42Mr. Sumansi Raman, you know, right now, it's gotten very personal.
12:45In the last news break that we just put out, we've seen also Udhaniti Stalin hitting back
12:49at Chief Minister Vijay, you know, father being dragged in, wife being dragged in.
12:53But ultimately, if you look at what transpired in the Assembly,
12:57do you think, Mr. Sumansi Raman, Vijay has addressed all of the issues that were raised by the DMK?
13:03Look, I think he did fairly well today.
13:06I mean, he is inexperienced. He is new to this.
13:10And there's been a lot of pressure saying that he doesn't speak, doesn't speak.
13:14And yesterday, there was criticism saying that when questions were asked,
13:18you know, it was the ministers who were responding to the questions and the chief minister was silent.
13:22So today, he came out. He made a speech.
13:25He made a partly extemporal speech, which is good.
13:29And he gave as good as he got.
13:31So I think that, yes, it was Philemy.
13:34There is no doubt that it was Philemy.
13:36And probably he needs to work on toning that down a bit.
13:39But having said that, I think that he did acquit himself quite creditably today.
13:47I think we have to make a difference between a father who is in politics
13:53and a former chief minister and a wife who is not in politics.
14:00So I don't think that the statement by Vijay and the statement by Uday Nidhi can be equated.
14:05I think it was an extremely bad taste on the part of the leader of the opposition
14:09to make the statement that he did.
14:11But having said that, Vijay did touch upon all the key issues.
14:15He spoke about law and order.
14:17He spoke about women's safety.
14:18He spoke about the anti-corruption crusade that his party had launched.
14:24So I think he came out, acquitted himself quite well.
14:27But can I just ask, Mr. Sumansi Raman, what's wrong with a Philemy speech?
14:30Look, here's someone who's been an actor for over three decades.
14:34He's been an actor.
14:35It's clear that people like also this kind of, can I call it masala?
14:39I don't know, but this kind of entity between the assembly.
14:42But they like it.
14:42And so maybe he's catering and consciously doing it.
14:46No, I don't think.
14:47Look, everyone came from the Philemy industry.
14:50MGR came from the Philemy industry.
14:51Ms. Jayalalitha came from the Philemy industry.
14:54Mr. Karnanadi was from the Philemy industry.
14:56So they were all from the Philemy industry.
14:58But I think that the assembly calls for a certain level of gravitas
15:03and a certain level of seriousness.
15:05Of course, I'm not having a problem with a little bit of humor thrown in.
15:09But I think that there was an edge to the debate today on both sides.
15:14And more importantly, I think that, you know, just saying that people like movie dialogues
15:21and therefore we can have them.
15:23Yes, we can have them outside.
15:24But the assembly calls for a little bit of a serious debate and discussion,
15:29which hopefully we will get in the coming assembly session.
15:32But having said that, today, I think Mr. Vijay came through with a, I would probably say,
15:41just short of a distinction.
15:42Okay.
15:43Dr. Yarni, your opening comments.
15:45Why did the DMK choose to stage a walkout?
15:48Dr. Yarni, from the assembly?
15:51Dr. Yarni, obviously, yesterday when our leader of opposition, he was making his points,
15:55he was interrupted, I think, by three ministers.
15:58But today, when the chief minister was making a few points without any evidence
16:02or he was just making the rhetorics, so we were not allowed to question him.
16:06So the speaker is actually holding, you know, he was actually quite biased today.
16:12So it was only because of that we staged a walkout.
16:15Although biased how, I mean, here's the chief minister speaking, he has his time allotted
16:19in the assembly and then after that is when you will see any sort of response coming in.
16:25In a democracy, in the assembly, the opposition, they have very, you know, every right to question,
16:30you know, the chief minister when he's speaking.
16:32There is no rule that the opposition should not raise questions when he's speaking.
16:36This has been what's happening, especially when, you know, our leader Kalengar was in the assembly.
16:42He used to be stopped, you know, every minute and he used to respond very patiently
16:47to every question that was, you know, put forward towards him.
16:50So this is the, this is how the Tamil Nadu assembly has been functioning.
16:54So when the leader of opposition was allowed to be interrupted by the, those in power,
17:00why were the opposition leader, why was the opposition leader today not allowed to question
17:05the chief minister when he made rhetorics there?
17:08Okay, even if the CM had made any factual statements, it would be okay to say that,
17:13you know, you can question after the CM has completed his speech, but it was a complete
17:17rhetoric today.
17:18What are you referring to when you, you know, saying that it was rhetoric?
17:21What exactly is the point that you believed was unfair of the chief minister to make?
17:27So when you're in power, when you're in the government, right, your people expect answers
17:32based on, you know, facts to the criticisms which are put forward by the opposition and
17:37even the criticisms just being put forward by the people.
17:40But what, you know, they expect accountability.
17:42But what we saw today was a complete theatrical, you know, performance in the assembly.
17:46So, you know, there were a lot of questions which were put forward, you know, for the,
17:50about the sexual abuse case.
17:52You know, Akshita, you yourself have been, you know, very, you've been questioning the sexual
17:57abuse cases that were happening in Tamil Nadu before the elections.
18:00So as a woman myself, I understand where you came from.
18:04So right now, there are around 200 cases of sexual abuse that were, you know, complained
18:09in the last one month.
18:10Almost 100 of those cases were hope so cases.
18:12And in many instances, TVK functionaries themselves have been implicated in those sexual abuses.
18:16So when you are expected to respond to those criticisms, you know, based on facts, as a leader
18:22of a party itself, chief minister should have spoken, you know, he should have warned his
18:26party functionaries that the party will be taking strict actions against those
18:30involving, you know, those involved in the sexual abuse.
18:33Their own MLA Saravanan has been, you know, implicated in the women, TVK women functionary,
18:39not just a common woman.
18:40Mr. Satya Kumar, do you want to respond to that?
18:42No, you've, you've made your point.
18:43Let me just get him in and then I'll come back to you, Yarni.
18:46Mr. Satya Kumar, your response on the fact that there was no concrete statement from the
18:51chief minister on law and order on crimes against women.
18:55Akshita, if you see, we are just 40 days government and we are working hard to ensure that the
19:00pervasive effect of the previous government, which is continuing still now, we are trying
19:04to, we are trying to bring the law and order under control because in the last regime, law
19:08and order was completely a failure.
19:10We all know that.
19:11And Akshita, you yourself have reported many of the cases during the DMK regime as part
19:16of your programs.
19:17And why I'm mentioning this is because asking a 40-day government to bring a solution to
19:23the problems created by the DMK is not the point to be made here.
19:28So while we understand the pervasive effect of these matters, Honorable Chief Minister of
19:33Tamil Nadu Talabadi Vijay has continuously been focusing on eradicating corruption.
19:37He has vocally said that there won't be a party fund or a commission and he has even
19:41warned our own party members with respect to this on the first day of taking oath in
19:47the ceremony.
19:48So we have to understand, it takes time and we are ensuring that even the policies, even
19:54the, even these schemes are continued.
19:56Nowhere we have discontinued any of these schemes brought by the previous government.
19:59But I think the question that's constantly asked Mr. Satya Kumar is yes, sure, you can say
20:03that, you know, we've just had about 40 days and we've shown the right intention.
20:06But when, you know, there are incidents that come to light where you've got TVK functionaries
20:11themselves involved and nothing done about that, that's when there'll be questions asked
20:15about whether really you're bringing in any change, sir.
20:18See, a mere allegation, I can also keep an allegation now and walk off from this debate.
20:23Mere allegation doesn't work.
20:25There has to be an investigation, an affair has to be filed, there has to be a chart sheet,
20:29there is a due process of law, there is a procedure prescribed by law, there is a law
20:33for it and the law will take its course.
20:35Our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Talabadi Vijay, has clearly instructed nobody
20:40should be spared.
20:41Accordingly, the authorities are taking the action.
20:44The question here is, question here is whether there is a partiality or any of the favoritism
20:51being shown on the party person?
20:53Answer is no.
20:53The due process of law is set and even if it is a party person, act shall be taken.
20:58That's what is our stand always.
21:00Dr. Yarni, your response.
21:03I think Satya Kumar just made a statement regarding the partiality, right?
21:07MLA Saravanan, the TVK woman functionary had clearly stated that it was under MLA Saravanan
21:13who belongs to the TVK.
21:15It was only under his guidance and only because he said that she was sexually abused by two
21:20men.
21:21Why is no action being taken against Saravanan?
21:24Okay, let alone the action.
21:26As Satya Kumar said, the law will take its course.
21:28Why isn't any statement being made by the party leader against Saravanan?
21:33So, there are no action being taken against the TVK functionaries who are involved in
21:37the sexual abuse.
21:38Another point that Satya Kumar made, why is the government of a 40 days old government
21:44is being questioned on law and order?
21:46See, the TVK government, after assuming power, did not dissolve the police infrastructure.
21:51They did not suspend everyone or dismiss everyone and they do not have to, you know, appoint
21:56the police officers new.
21:57They have an infrastructure and the law and order should be maintained.
22:01The law and order is a chaos in the state.
22:03Women are afraid to go on the streets today.
22:05So, you know, you can ask time to implement the policies, Akshita.
22:11You cannot ask time to, you know, to take control of the law and order situation.
22:14Okay, so we've heard both the DMK and TVK on the issue of law and order.
22:18Let me pivot now to the other aspect also that was brought up by Chief Minister Vijay,
22:23which is corruption.
22:24And Mr. Sumansi Raman, I'll bring you in on this.
22:26You know, it was at this point essentially that the DMK staged a walkout where you had
22:31allegations that TASMAC kickbacks, that funds were sent into party funds.
22:35That was the allegation that Chief Minister Vijay put forth.
22:38Do you think on the issue of corruption, essentially, you know, the TVK is taking the right steps?
22:45So far, yes.
22:46And I think that we just have to wait and see and just hope that these actions continue.
22:51Vijay made some very important points today.
22:53He said, not only will we not take money, we will not allow people to take money
22:58and we will punish those who took money.
23:01Which is a very, very important part of the whole statement.
23:05We won't take money means, this is one part of it, we won't allow people to take money is in
23:10the future.
23:10But punishing those who took money.
23:14And Akshita, in the last 15-20 days, you are having Contractors Association coming and saying,
23:20we were forced to pay 25% to the previous government.
23:23You have the private schools association saying that they never gave a single approval or recognition without collecting money.
23:32You have people from various associations coming and saying that, you know, they have taken money for this day.
23:38I want to ask the DMK, have they filed… they are asking for evidence.
23:43Have they filed defamation cases against all these people?
23:46Dr. Yarni, do you want to respond to that?
23:48They are on record.
23:49They are all putting out videos saying that they forced us for 25%, they forced us for 10%, they forced
23:55us for 15%.
23:57Contractors, every… I can give you 5, 6 videos…
24:01No, and just a contrast to that, which is that, you know, we've been seeing so many messages.
24:05I got messages a couple of minutes ago from people in Chennai saying that we've had to register property and
24:10not pay a bribe, which is new for us.
24:12But Dr. Yarni, on the issue of corruption, you know, the TV case highlighted an issue that has been rampant,
24:19that has been questioned and that there has been evidence of, Yarni.
24:23Yeah, Akshita, basically, the 10 rupees per bottle that was collected, right?
24:27When… I think we should all watch the interview and the bite that was given by the prohibition minister of
24:33the TVK government.
24:34He said that the 10 rupees is being collected only, you know, by the government, only to ensure that the
24:39bottles are being written.
24:40He said that he won't be… that the TVK government won't be able to do away with it immediately.
24:45So, when the Vijayi sang the song that Vavattalika Patruva, they were either not aware of how the government functions.
24:51So, that is the question that we are asking.
24:53And with regards to the corruption charges, we are being completely transparent.
24:57We are… you are in the government.
24:58You have every, you know, every administration at your disposal.
25:02You have every power at your disposal.
25:03We are asking you to file cases against us if there are evidences.
25:07You know, mere… just what Satya Kumar said, right now said, mere allegations are not sufficient.
25:11You cannot hold someone, you know, as a guilty just because… just with the help of a, you know…
25:16But when convenient, then we are doing it because that is exactly what Mr. Satya Kumar highlighted.
25:21Not about being convenient, right?
25:22You are in the governance.
25:23You have everything at your disposal to file, you know, cases against us and put us behind the bus if
25:29we are really, you know, if we are really involved in corruption.
25:31Today, if I tell you, Akshita, if I blame you of corruption, if I blame you, you were very supportive
25:36of TVK.
25:37If I tell you that you had got money from, you know, the TVK, it would be very wrong.
25:41It would be very baseless because there are no evidences.
25:43So, allegations cannot be used or, you know, especially in an era where social media has been used to defail
25:48everyone.
25:49A couple of things.
25:49I have not been supportive of anyone first.
25:51Secondly, those allegations, yes, a whole lot of it has come flooding across by social media, courtesy of a lot
25:57of people backing the DMK.
25:58But I don't want to go down that path.
26:00Go ahead, Mr. Satya Kumar.
26:01I see your hand up.
26:02Look, Akshita, in the same program, how they are allegating you?
26:05I know that you are an unbiased, independent journalist.
26:08And this is what they do in the assembly as well.
26:10The spokesperson does the same.
26:12The opposition, LOP does the same.
26:14Opposition leader does the same.
26:15And even their former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Stalin, did the same.
26:19So, allegating everyone, trying to bring conspiracies around us.
26:25This is what the DMK does systematically every time.
26:28And this is what exactly TVK is doing, you know.
26:31Akshita, the name Akshita, I said it would be very baseless.
26:35People of Tamil Nadu know who has created conspiracies around us.
26:39Stop cherry-picking, Satya Kumar.
26:41Stop cherry-picking.
26:41I said it would be baseless.
26:42Akshita, people of Tamil Nadu know what kind of conspiracies DMK created.
26:50Let me complete, Akshita.
26:52Yeah, Mr. Satya Kumar.
26:53Dr. Yanni, I'll come to you.
26:54Just give me a moment.
26:55People of Tamil Nadu know what kind of conspiracies DMK created around our leader during the month
27:02of October, November last year.
27:05And he spoke about it today.
27:07The Karur episode today in the assembly.
27:09This is the kind of government the DMK was running.
27:12So, that investigation, sir, that investigation is still on.
27:14We're not going to jump to conclusions.
27:15Investigation is on.
27:16Investigation is on.
27:17Investigation.
27:18The former, one of the ministers were also summoned by the CBI at that point of time.
27:22We all know well.
27:22Coming back to the 10 rupees part of the task mark.
27:25The 10 rupees that was collected from the task mark was going into the pockets of Sindhil Balaji.
27:31But here, I want to explain the process.
27:33We are charging 20 rupees.
27:34We may even charge 30 rupees if needed.
27:37I'm telling you.
27:37We may even charge 40 rupees if needed to get the refundable deposit.
27:42People take the bottle.
27:43They give back the bottle.
27:44Now, we are implementing an AI system.
27:46AI system for returning the bottle.
27:48If they give back the bottle, they'll get the 30 rupees or 20 rupees or 10 rupees.
27:50No, but Mr. Satya Kumar, what is being done?
27:52You know, you're speaking about corruption.
27:53Chief Minister Vijay says we will not accept anyone taking money.
27:57But what is being done to crack down on all these allegations then that you are leveling against the previous
28:02DMK government?
28:03Exactly.
28:03Because even Dr. Yarni also says that, you know, if there's any truth to it, go ahead and arrest them.
28:08Yeah, that's what is happening now.
28:10For example, if you look at the transformer scam, CBS registered a case.
28:14And Mr. K. Nehru, in fact, DMK should have registered the case.
28:18The DVAC should have registered the case when the court ordered for the investigation.
28:21They have not done it.
28:22They have prolonged it for a long time.
28:24Are they actually investigating their own party members?
28:27Answer is no.
28:28We are here.
28:29We are taken 40 days.
28:30We will take some more time.
28:31We will see to that the law is set in force.
28:35With respect to all this allegation, what this DMK and we will ensure that.
28:39It is taken to the court and we will prove the offenses and even the corruption made by the DMK
28:43leaders.
28:44Ultimately, Dr. Yarni, the challenge is for the DMK that some of your senior-most leaders have all been accused
28:49in some corruption case or the other.
28:52Exactly.
28:54No, Akshita, see, making an allegation without any base.
28:58No, no, no, no.
28:58They have...
28:59Oh, Satiqma, let me finish.
29:00Okay, great.
29:01Yeah, please.
29:02You have the government.
29:03Please put forward.
29:04Please give us evidences.
29:05The public are also expecting the same thing because you came to power accusing the DMK of corruption.
29:10Give us the evidences of corruption.
29:12You haven't provided any evidences.
29:14It's just a rhetoric.
29:15Again, a narrative that has been conveniently being used by the DBK to fool the people.
29:20You know, we have seen this anti-corruption movement previously in India as well.
29:25So, it was through this anti-corruption movement that the BJP came to power.
29:28It is a very similar tactic which is used by the TVK today.
29:31But I am very sure that they are not going to provide any evidences because no corruption has taken place.
29:36And Akshita, to make my point here, I did not accuse you.
29:40I said it would be very wrong to accuse you without any evidence.
29:43This is exactly what the TVK is doing today, Akshita.
29:46So, they are very...
29:47You know, the TVK is very careful and very brilliant at, you know, nitpicking and making a narrative.
29:52And that's exactly what Satya Kumar also said.
29:54Thank you for that clarification, Dr. Yanni.
29:56Mr. Sumansiram.
29:57Yeah, I think you have to congratulate the DMK spokesperson for having kept a straight face
30:04when she said there has been no corruption at all.
30:06I mean, it's incredible.
30:08But the point I am trying to make is very clear.
30:11The test for Vijay is if he does not successfully prosecute the former ministers who are accused,
30:21whether it is K&N Nehru, whether it is Sendhil Balaji and a whole host of others in a variety
30:26of scams,
30:27if he does not prosecute them and if he behaves in the way the DMK and AIDMK would behave with
30:34each other in the last five, six years.
30:37For instance, the DMK did not successfully prosecute a single ex-AIDMK minister in spite of the fact that they
30:44had filed the charges against the ministers.
30:49Similarly, AIDMK has also been very soft on the DMK ex-ministers.
30:54So, the test for Vijay's anti-corruption plank is going to be not just that you can register properties without
31:01paying bribes,
31:02but also whether he prosecutes, because many of them are open and shut cases.
31:08The transformer scam, for instance, 379 crores, 23 firms submit identical quotation for a transformer, you know.
31:16These are open and shut cases.
31:19And yet, for years, the DMK government, despite the put-out, did not file cases in these situations.
31:28So, that is what is the point I am trying to make.
31:30The big test for Vijay is, is he going to prosecute the ex-ministers and the other leaders of the
31:37DMK for what has been filed in public domain as cases?
31:42I agree that that will be a test for Chief Minister Vijay.
31:46He has to walk the talk now.
31:47He has made these comments in the Assembly, filmy as they are, but they are also very tall assurances that
31:53the Chief Minister has given to the people.
31:55He has to walk the talk on each of those now, including a crackdown on corruption.
31:59Not just as Chief Minister, but what happened previously as well.
32:03I would like to thank all of our panelists for joining us on this broadcast.
32:07You know, you have seen, of course, what the Chief Minister has said.
32:10You have seen what the Leader of Opposition has said.
32:12We will leave it to you to decide who was a hit, who was a flop in the Assembly today.
32:17But let's also get to the other big story from Tabarnadu.
32:20Remember the Deepatun controversy.
32:22This was in Madurai, in the Tirupara Kundram Hill Shrine, where months ago, during Kartikai Deepam, which falls in November,
32:29DMK did not allow the lighting of the Deepatun in the place that the Madras High Court had agreed for.
32:37The Tamil Nadu government now, under the TVK, under Chief Minister Vijay, has taken a similar stance as DMK.
32:44They have approached the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court order that permitted the lighting of the Deepam at
32:50the Deepatun atop the Tirupara Kundram Hill.
32:53Remember, there are two spots.
32:54One close to the Darga, which is not being lit now, citing communal harmony.
32:58The other location is where, in fact, the lamp is being lit.
33:02This plea by the TVK has been filed a couple of days ago, led by Chief Minister Vijay, and it's
33:10been filed in the Supreme Court.
33:12The hearing previously in the Supreme Court, when the DMK was in power, led to the Madras High Court's order
33:18being upheld.
33:19Now we'll have to see what really happens.
33:22But Tamil Nadu government, under Vijay, has made it very clear that there's no change in their stance, because they
33:27want peace.
33:31We know that Tirupara Kundram wanted to be a peaceful place, and all the worship has been, all the religious
33:37worship has been happening very peacefully.
33:39Only last two years, this DMK government, they misandled this issue, and they have made it as a very big,
33:44and BJP used this as an opportunity for a political opportunity.
33:47We, as a government, as CM, like a TVK government, definitely will not allow any of this emotional issue to
33:53happen, and we don't want to use any of this issue for a political purpose.
33:57We wanted to maintain the same state, what has been happening in two years back.
34:03So I think the people of Tamil Nadu and Tirupara Kundram wanted peace, and definitely we'll approach court, because a
34:09lot of judgments have been already given.
34:11So we approached the Supreme Court, and we wanted to get a legal remedy for this.
34:17Pramod Madhav is joining us live from Chennai with more details on this.
34:21Pramod, you know, we've constantly been highlighting this.
34:24When it comes to ideology, when it comes to these issues, the DMK and TVK pretty much have the same
34:30stand.
34:30So even on a Tirupara Kundram issue, you know, you've got CTR Nirmal Kumar making it very, very clear that
34:36Tamil Nadu wants peace,
34:37and so they will approach the Supreme Court now to seek a stay on the Madras High Court order.
34:42Just run us through the timeline of this case, and how previously the Supreme Court refused.
34:48Yeah, Shita, the important aspect here is that even while the Chief Minister, while speaking in the Assembly,
34:52he very clearly said that he will accept the ideologies of Periyar, but he will also respect all religions and
34:59all beliefs as well.
35:00And this particular issue seems to be very, very important, the state of Taberadu, considering.
35:03And this Deepatun issue apparently occurred last Karthikee month, which actually falls between 15th of November and 15th of December.
35:11That is a very, very important month for God, Muruga.
35:14And the Tirupara Kundram is one of the six aborts, very important places for Murugan.
35:18And there are, just like you mentioned, two Deepatuns.
35:20I remember the Madras High Court single judge over there went ahead, and he allowed the petitioner to do so,
35:25but the authorities over there did not do that.
35:28And for almost three days, there was complete ruckus over there, because the Madras High Court judge, G.R. Swamina,
35:33also asked the Central Reserve forces to go along with it.
35:35But the state police did not allow them.
35:37That is why it went to a bench in Madras High Court as well.
35:42Now, the Tamil Nadu government, just like you mentioned, the TVK government is also taking the same instance,
35:47and they want to approach the Supreme Court cleaning for the sake of peace in Madurai and the surrounding areas.
35:52They are going to maintain the status quo.
35:55And light the lark in the same place, and not the one near the Dargah, Akshita.
35:59We'll have to see what really happens, because remember that it was over this issue that we saw a full
36:04-blown escalation,
36:05where essentially the DMK even filed a contempt plea against the Madras High Court judge.
36:10So, we'll see how it plays out now legally.
36:12Thanks, Pramod, for joining us with those details.
36:15Let's get you our daily live monsoon tracker.
36:18The southwest monsoon officially has arrived in Maharashtra, and yes, the city of Mumbai too.
36:24Witness torrential downpours and lightning as well in the city.
36:29The Med Department has formally declared the onset of the southwest monsoon over Mumbai and parts of North Konkan.
36:35Much needed, considering the huge delay of the last many weeks that we've seen in Maharashtra.
36:41And so, right now, the Med Department has placed Mumbai under an active orange alert, which means heavy rain will
36:47continue.
36:48Meanwhile, the onset of the monsoon in Delhi is likely to be delayed as the monsoon now progresses onward in
36:54every pocket of the country.
36:56Where it was supposed to hit much earlier, it will be pushed by a couple of weeks.
37:00But there has been some respite from the blistering heat in the national capital.
37:05After a blinding dust storm, where immediately you had visibility dropping in parts of the Delhi airport,
37:11Delhi also witnessed spells of cooling rain.
37:14Very brief, but much needed, considering the temperatures were soaring.
37:18The Med Department also issued a red alert across the city over the next few hours.
37:24Similar conditions have been reported across several parts of the national capital region.
37:29But mind you, I will again reiterate that because the monsoon being delayed,
37:34we've witnessed the driest June in over 100 years in the country.
37:38And this, even as a fresh Eldino wave, makes its way forward.
37:42Pockets of oceans across the world are now in much warmer temperatures than what you'd normally see.
37:49And that's what also had its impact in India as well, leading to that unbelievable delay in the monsoon.
37:56All of the action from the FIFA World Cup, Lionel Messi becoming the leading all-time goal scorer in FIFA
38:03World Cup history.
38:04The legendary Messi, who's playing his last FIFA World Cup, delighted fans with not one, but two goals.
38:11As Argentina sealed a place in the round of 32.
38:14As I wrap up this edition of Supercell 6, enjoy some Messi magic.
38:22It's hard to believe that a player who wasn't sure of playing the World Cup is scoring goals for fun.
38:32With his 38-minute strike against Austria, Lionel Messi edged his name in football history.
38:42The goal helped Messi become the all-time leading goal scorer in World Cup history.
38:52He scored another one in the match, taking his overall tally to 18 goals in the marquee tournament.
39:01In the fifth minute of added time, the diminutive magician applied the finishing touches to a game that his team
39:08had thoroughly dominated.
39:15Messi, who turns 39 tomorrow, leads Mbappe and Haaland, players who are still in their mid-20s and is right
39:23now the tournament's highest goal scorer.
39:28At a time when footballers enjoy their post-retirement life, Messi is busy rewriting the records.
39:36On the greatest show on earth, he's the protagonist yet again.
