00:00A United Nations inquiry has found that Israeli authorities and security forces
00:04deliberately targeted Palestinian children in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
00:09The report said the acts could amount to genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes as well.
00:17The report examined alleged violations against Palestinian children
00:21since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023.
00:25It found that more than 20,000 Palestinian children had been killed during the conflict,
00:30which is around 30% of the total death toll.
00:33The commission said children were deliberately targeted during the war,
00:37including after a ceasefire took effect in October last year.
00:41This, the report said, formed a key element in its finding of genocidal intent in Gaza.
00:47The inquiry also found repeated displacement and restrictions on aid, food and medicine
00:52by Israeli authorities that have severely impacted children's health and development.
00:57In the occupied West Bank, the commission also reported a sharp increase in violence
01:02against Palestinian children and documented cases of abuse and mistreatment of minors in detention.
01:08Israel rejected the report, calling it defamatory.
