This week saw international panic day, a time where people can really try and reduce the stresses in their day to day lives.
But what are the ways that people can relieve the pressure of work?

00:00Now there are many different ways to de-stress. For me, I do love a good gym
00:05session but it's different person to person. So I'm here at KMTV to see how
00:10the rest of the journalists tend to de-stress. To de-stress there are a range
00:14of things I like to do. I quite like cleaning. I find cleaning to be very
00:17de-stressing and so I'll like do the dishes, wipe some countertops, things
00:22like that. I also love listening to music. I listen to music every day. For me I
00:26visualize what I'm about to do. If I'm really scared about it, I see myself
00:30actually doing it and taking deep breaths all the way through. Then I like to turn
00:35on a film and just while it's playing in the background, get a load of sort of
00:37admin jobs done, cleaning, just sorting stuff out, maybe what I've got to do for
00:43the next day's work. I'm not the best at kind of turning the work off as soon as I
00:47leave. I like to go on walks, especially nightly walks with no music, no headphones,
00:51just taking the atmosphere. So after a really long week of work, I
00:55really like to spend a day and just bake. That's all I do. I try and find a
00:59different recipe every week and just experiment and it usually lasts me
01:04throughout the week but because I have such a sweet tooth, it's all gone by
01:06Wednesday. Me personally, I enjoy a bath with some essential oils, maybe read a
01:12book. Yeah, I like reading a book. I usually watch a film as well. Now there are
01:17just some of the things the journalists at KMTV tend to do after a long day's work.
01:24But what doesn't the welfare experts say on the matter? I spoke to one earlier today.
01:30Have a simple micro, I call it micro pauses. It's basically you break, have a break even when you're
01:36sitting on your desk for a few seconds. Take a deep breath in. If you don't want to do that,
01:42you can just
01:42look away from your screen, do something, have a sip of water. Basically, you are giving your mind a
01:49break from whatever you're doing. Reward busyness, we reward, we talk about it, we glorify busyness.
01:56Nobody's talking about slowing down. It's just like we have a Ferrari, right?
02:03Consider our mind and body as a Ferrari and an engine. What do we do? We slow it down. We
02:08don't
02:09keep pushing it at the top all the time. We change gears and we turn the engine off once the
02:18journey
02:18is done when we got to the destination. Now Bupinza there urged us to take more time to breathe,
02:26especially after a hard day's work. Jude Moulton for KMTV.
