Gaza health crisis reaches a breaking point as the Palestinian Ambassador to India reveals shocking details about the collapse of the healthcare system in Palestine. In this exclusive interview, the Palestinian Ambassador to India speaks about the devastating impact of the Israel-Palestine conflict on hospitals, medical supplies, cancer treatment, surgeries, and emergency healthcare services across Gaza and the West Bank.

In this explosive exclusive interview with Oneindia News Editor Pankaj Mishra, H.E. Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, Palestinian Ambassador to India, presents his perspective on the events leading up to the October 7 attack, arguing that the roots of the Israel-Palestine conflict stretch far beyond a single day.

According to the Palestinian Ambassador to India, only 19 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are partially functioning, while the remaining hospitals have been destroyed amid the ongoing conflict. The Gaza health crisis has left thousands without access to essential medical care, creating what officials describe as a humanitarian catastrophe. The Palestinian Ambassador to India warns that the healthcare system in Palestine is on the brink of total collapse, with severe shortages of medicines, equipment, and life-saving treatments.

00:00So we will begin with the pressing need and the pressing concern about the collapse of the healthcare sector
00:07and the healthcare industry on the whole in Palestine following the attacks by Israel.
00:14How are people coping up there?
00:16Again, thank you so much indeed, Bankaj, for having me.
00:19There is a lot of devastating situation and all the whole entire sectors in Palestine have been enduring in a
00:27catastrophic situation.
00:28But mainly this day I had been convened this press conference to shed light in a very devastating and very
00:37critical and very impressing situation we are enduring in Palestine.
00:42The health sector at large, the health situation in Palestine is on the brink of totally collapse, utterly collapse.
00:51Let me just remind all your audience that for the 986 days of genocidal war that had been launched by
01:02the Israeli against the entire Palestinian people,
01:05especially in Gaza, 19 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza is still partially working.
01:14The other, of course, the other 17 hospitals have been totally, utterly, completely razed and demolished and completely destroyed.
01:23So only 19 out of 36 is still partially working.
01:29When you talk about 19 out of 36 in a devastating situation where there are more than 170,000 Palestinians
01:37who had been injured during the last live stream genocidal war,
01:42this means a lot of pressure on the health system.
01:45When we talk about the health system when we talk about the health system in Gaza itself with the limitation
01:51of the access of the health and the tablets,
01:56health issue and the necessary medical supply due to the Israeli measures in the border,
02:03this means another more pressure on the health system in Gaza.
02:08When it came to the West Bank due to the Israeli assangulation financial measures that had been took by the
02:16Israeli government and withholding of the Palestinian tax revenue
02:21that reached more than $5.5 billion up today, that we received zero of it.
02:29This means that the two main sectors or the two main major sectors that consume the budget, the Palestinian budget,
02:38which is the health and, of course, the education system.
02:42The health system is in the brinks again, in the West Bank, in the brinks of collapse.
02:48Last year, during this period, I mean, since the beginning of 2025 up to June 2025,
02:5665,000 different types of surgeries have been conducted.
03:00This year, in the same exact period, only 19,500 surgeries have been conducted.
03:0811,000 surgeries have been postponed.
03:12Out of 97 necessary medicine, necessary tablets for the cancer, for treatment of the cancer,
03:2250 of these, 97 is out of the shell, is not founded in the Minister of Health.
03:32Out of more than 580 different type of medicine, only 180 types still founded, and we are in this.
03:40But what I would like to say that the health situation, the health sector in Palestine is, so to speak,
03:52is working in the very lowest level, which did not survive and serve the people.
04:02There are tens of people still losing their life due to this shortages of health and health care.
