00:02An investigation is now underway after a catastrophe at one of the military's most
00:07important air bases. Eight people are dead after a B-52 bomber crashed just moments after takeoff
00:14in Southern California. The Air Force says the B-52 Stratofortress went down Monday morning
00:20at Edwards Air Force Base while supporting a radar modernization test. Emergency crews rushed to the
00:26scene as flames and thick black smoke engulfed the crash site. It took off and immediately after
00:33takeoff crashed and burst into flames. After reviewing the footage of the crash it was deemed
00:41that this was an unrecoverable crash and unsurvivable. The eight people on board included military
00:47personnel, government civilians and contractors working on a test mission. Sadly as we mentioned
00:54all are dead. The crash left a massive burn scar on the runway and sent a thick column of black
01:00smoke
01:00into the desert sky. Investigators are now trying to determine what brought down one of the Air Force's
01:06most recognizable aircraft, a bomber that first entered service more than 70 years ago and remains
01:12a key part of the U.S. military fleet.
