00:00We now go with our special segment on the occasion of the World Cup.
00:04Beyond the game, the ball stays pure.
00:06Go ahead Luis, pleasure to share that with you.
00:09Good morning Sophie, good morning to our audience.
00:11Today we have a couple of games that are very interesting.
00:14The first one in the afternoon will be the Netherlands against Sweden,
00:17followed by Germany and Sweden, Germany and the Avery Coast.
00:21I beg your pardon, we're going to pay attention for those two games in the special.
00:25But let's take a break and we'll be right back with all the information of yesterday's actions.
00:46Welcome to Beyond the Game, the ball stays pure.
00:48Five-time champion Brazil defeated 83-0 in the second Group C match.
00:53At Philadelphia Stadium, the Salazar delivered an authoritative performance
00:57led by forward Mateus Cunha, who scored a brace in the 23rd and 36th minutes.
01:02Vinicius Jr. added a third goal in the 48th minute as Carlo Ancelotti's side sealed a comfortable victory for Haiti.
01:09The defeat carries major consequences as the Caribbean nation became the first team
01:14to be mathematically eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.
01:17The only sour note for Brazil came with the early departure of forward Rafinha, who left the match after suffering
01:23physical discomfort.
01:24The Brazilian Football Confederation later confirmed that the player has already received medical attention
01:29and will undergo further evaluation in the coming hours to determine the extent of the injury.
01:42And Morocco also took a major step toward the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup
01:47with a deserved 1-0 victory over Scotland in Group C.
01:50The Atlas Lions controlled the contest from the opening whistle dominating possession
01:54and creating the clearer scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.
01:58The opening and only goal came very early at the second minute
02:01when Ismael Saibaru delivered a powerful shot following an exquisite ball through breaking the defensive line.
02:08With four points from their opening two matches following their draw against Brazil,
02:13Morocco now placed itself in a strong position to reach their round of 32
02:16and could even challenge for top spot in Group C depending on the remaining results.
02:22Scotland, meanwhile, faces a difficult path forward as it hopes of qualifications so for a significant setback.
02:38And Friday's results had a major impact on the Group C standings.
02:41Brazil moved to the top of the group after claiming three points in its most recent match,
02:45reaching a total of four points.
02:47South Americans now lead the standings on goal difference.
02:50Morocco sits in second place with the same number of points as Brazil,
02:53but with two fewer goals, leaving the African side just behind the group leaders.
02:58Scotland dropped to the third place, remaining on three points
03:02and still very much in contention for a place in the next round.
03:05Meanwhile, Haiti remains at the bottom of the standings after suffering back-to-back defeats,
03:09a result that has already ended its World Cup campaign.
03:20And Paraguay defeated Turquille 1-0 in their Group D match on the second matchday of the 2016 World Cup
03:27at San Francisco Stadium.
03:28Paraguay kept its hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive with a victory secured by midfielder Matias Galarza,
03:35who scored just two wins into the match after an assist from Julio Enciso.
03:40The strike is the fastest goal recorded so far in the current edition of the tournament.
03:45The Paraguayans managed to protect their early lead against Turquille,
03:49a side that created several dangerous chances but failed to find the back of the net.
03:54The Turks came close on multiple occasions with some of their attempts striking the woodwork,
03:58but they were unable to break through Paraguay's defence.
04:11And in this match, the 2026 FIFA World Cup saw the first disciplinary action under the so-called Prestiani rule,
04:17a regulation aimed at players who cover their mouths while speaking on the field.
04:22Paraguay footballer Miguel Almiron was sent off after covering his mouth with his hand while speaking to an opposing player.
04:28The incident was punished with a straight red card under the newly implemented rule,
04:33which seeks to prevent insults or other expressions that referees may be unable to detect during a match.
04:39The case has set an early precedent in the tournament and reignited debate over the limits of player communication on
04:45the pitch
04:45and the reach of a measure that has generated divided opinions since its introduction.
05:00And the United States became the second nation to secure a spot in the next stage of the World Cup
05:04after winning 2-0 over Australia.
05:06The breakthrough came early through an on-goal by Cameron Burgess before Alex Freeman doubled the lead
05:12with a header following a sharp transition that exposed Australia's high defensive line.
05:16The US dictated the tempo, dominating possession and stretching the pitch with quick switches of play,
05:22especially down the right flank.
05:24Australia struggled to create clear chances, pinned back by the US' present structure that forced repeated turnovers in midfield.
05:38Well, US fans rejoice at their team's victory and qualification for the next stage.
05:44I think they played a great game. They didn't want to take the ball very well.
05:50Well, the first two games they came out really strong, so I'm hoping for the next game they continue that,
05:55and they have a great squad. So, yeah.
05:59I think we did an amazing job. I will say though, Australians were playing a bit too aggressive,
06:05but we held on. We got that 2-0, and we're going to the next round, baby. Woo!
06:14And Group D also saw changes in the standings following the results of the latest matchday.
06:19The United States remained at the top of the group after securing its second consecutive victory,
06:23reaching a perfect six points and becoming the first team in the group to qualify for the run of 32.
06:27Despite its recent defeat, Australia holds on to second place with three points
06:31and remains in a strong position to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
06:36Paraguay provided one of the surprises of the matchday by claiming its first win of the World Cup,
06:41moving up to third place and keeping its qualification hopes alive, heading into the final round of group matches.
06:48Meanwhile, Drukijev remains at the bottom of the standings without a single point,
06:51a situation that has also ended its World Cup campaign.
07:01Well, this is all for now. Remember, we have a good match at 1 p.m.
07:05Karakas time between the Netherlands and Sweden, followed at 4 p.m. between Germany and Ivory Coast.
07:10Both of those teams are in the top position of their group, so we'll see what happens.
07:15We'll go back to you, Sophie, now.
