The Rookie – Season 1 follows John Nolan, a 45-year-old man who decides to completely change his life after a traumatic event. Leaving behind his old career, he moves to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer with the LAPD. As the department's oldest rookie, Nolan faces skepticism from his superiors and fellow officers, who doubt whether he can handle the challenges of police work.

Alongside fellow rookies Lucy Chen and Jackson West, Nolan must prove that age is not a limitation while learning to survive the dangerous and unpredictable streets of Los Angeles. Season 1 combines action, drama, humor, and emotional character development as the rookies struggle to balance personal lives with the demands of law enforcement.

02:40Nope, just an equal amount of self-absorbed people.
02:43Mm-hmm, only they're far more pale.
02:44Yes.
02:46Which is why you should spend more than a few days a month down here with me.
02:50Oh.
02:51I wish I could, but I landed this big security contract in Virginia.
02:55Nice.
02:55Which reminds me, um, there's this thing that I heard about that I think you should volunteer for.
03:02I love volunteering for things.
03:04What's the thing?
03:05Well, uh, a friend of mine is an ADA out here, and he mentioned that he's gonna be reaching out
03:10to your station for manpower for objection details.
03:13Some high-powered witness in a safe house.
03:17Sounds like fun.
03:17And some valuable experience.
03:20How can I ever thank you?
03:22Oh.
03:23I'm sure I will think of a few ways.
03:25I'm sure you will.
03:27We're talking about sex though, right?
03:29I am.
03:31For Captain Weatherby, the following protocol changes will take place immediately.
03:36And we're putting in boots on top of lockers.
03:39Any boots left on top of lockers will be thrown away at midnight and noon daily.
03:44Second, every officer must provide a business card to every citizen they contact.
03:49If a citizen doesn't want a business card, the officer must write a police report and document the fact the
03:55citizen refused a business card.
03:57Sir, with all due respect, this sucks.
03:59Ours is not to judge, Officer Lopez.
04:02Command believes that the captain's focus on efficiency is what Midwestern needs right now.
04:10Captain, can I help you?
04:12I need an updated vehicle list.
04:14Yes, sir, I'm in the middle of roll call.
04:16I'll get to you right after.
04:17But since you're here, would you like to say anything inspirational today's shift?
04:26You should tell them about the boots.
04:28Yes, sir.
04:30Oh, okay.
04:31Well, uh, keep up the, uh, good work.
04:44All right.
04:47Last bit of business.
04:49District Attorney's office is a witness on the ice.
04:52They need our help watching them.
04:54I usually, um, assign rookies these type of details, Officer Nolan.
04:58And Officer Bishop would have to agree.
05:01Forget it.
05:02Protection details are like watching paint dry.
05:04Looks like you're out of luck.
05:06I'll do it.
05:08And Nolan and I haven't had a chance to bond yet.
05:15Great.
05:16All right.
05:17Bishop, you'll be riding with Chip.
05:18That's it.
05:19Oh, and remember, when you take your shops in at night, you now have to drive by the garage
05:26to get a mechanical inspection and mileage report.
05:30You're welcome.
05:32You're riding, this sucks.
05:33For you, because I'll be home eating dinner while you're doing all that.
05:36Officer West to the front desk.
05:38Visitor.
05:40I'll be right back.
05:41Make it fast.
05:41Captains put a clock on our rollout.
05:46Hey.
05:47Hey.
05:48Uh, what are you doing here?
05:50You left something at my place.
05:52Um, I just can't really have visitors here.
05:56Look, I just, I just really want to keep my personal and work life separate.
06:01Fine.
06:03He left your off-duty weapon at my place.
06:08I can't believe I did that.
06:09You were a little distracted.
06:12Look, you don't understand.
06:13If anybody found out about this, I'd get fired.
06:15Immediately.
06:16And like, what, why would you bring it here?
06:17What if you got pulled over?
06:19You're mad at me about this.
06:20No, look.
06:22I gotta get to work.
06:23I'm sorry, Gino.
06:25I...
06:25Yeah.
06:27Hey, boot, what's the hold-up?
06:29Uh, nothing.
06:31Sorry.
06:31I just...
06:33Actually, can I, uh, can I just get a minute?
06:35I need to hit the locker room.
06:3630 seconds or I fill you for the day.
06:43Just to lift his boots up.
06:45You up today on protection detail protocols?
06:47I think so.
06:48Okay, we use a loser's system.
06:49Name for the losers we protect.
06:51L-O-S-R.
06:52Listen, observe, secure, report.
06:53You listen for any movement, changes, or information that impact the mission.
06:57Observe the subject's behavior, changes in the environment, et cetera.
07:01Secure.
07:02Make sure no threats.
07:03Infiltrate the perimeter.
07:04And finally, report.
07:05Report any suspicious activity, no matter how minor, to your superior officer immediately.
07:09That means me.
07:10What about E?
07:12Loser has an E?
07:14E is for engage, which is left out because you are not to engage a subject unless it's a life
07:18-threatening emergency.
07:19We're here to guard this guy, not braid his hair and be besties.
07:22That understood?
07:22Understood.
07:23I don't even know how to braid hair.
07:24I was going to learn if we had a daughter, but...
07:27Never mind.
07:36Police!
07:39You all right?
07:40Yeah, yeah, yeah, thanks.
07:41He got me when I wasn't looking.
07:42You're under arrest for assaulting an officer.
07:45Peacewater should be arrested.
07:46He said he'd rip up the ticket if I gave him $100.
07:49That's not true.
07:50Like hell it isn't!
07:50Sir, there's no use in lying, all right?
07:52Whatever really happens is going to be on the officer's body camera.
07:56Where's your body camera?
08:01Um...
08:01It's, uh, it's in the car.
08:02It was on the fritz.
08:03I'll go get it.
08:09Officer, wait!
08:15Get out of the car!
08:17Get out of the car now!
08:18Okay, take it easy.
08:19Get out of the car.
08:20Take it easy, man.
08:20Come on.
08:21Interlace your fingers and face the car.
08:22Go, go, go.
08:24Okay, it's just a big misunderstanding.
08:27Can we just talk this out, you know, cop to cop?
08:29You're not a cop.
08:30An impersonating a law enforcement officer is a felony.
08:32I want a lawyer.
08:33Maybe you can impersonate one.
08:42That's the safe house.
08:447 out of 19 on scene at the mutual aid call.
08:47We'll make contact in 10 seconds.
08:48Roger, 7 out of 19.
08:53LAPD, Bradford, Nolan.
08:58Uh, Officer Nolan?
09:00Nolan.
09:00Hey, I'm ADA Sean Del Monte.
09:02Jessica Russo told me you'd be helping out.
09:04Sir, Officer Nolan is a rookie.
09:06I'm his superior, Officer Tim Bradford.
09:08Oh, sorry.
09:09I just assumed that he'd be in charge.
09:11The last guy Jessica dated was a Navy SEAL.
09:13Seriously?
09:14Yeah.
09:14Talk about a strong handshake like a vice president.
09:16Okay, can we get the download and I protect you?
09:18Of course.
09:19Yeah.
09:20Brad Hayes worked border patrol for 12 years down in Temecula.
09:25He rose to second in command.
09:26And he turned around and started using what we taught him
09:28to help the other side.
09:30He charged the cartels of fortune to smuggle people in and out.
09:33Now he's naming names.
09:35No wonder he's hiding out here.
09:36Yeah, he's testifying before a grand jury tomorrow.
09:39Look, Sheriff's Department will coordinate shift changes.
09:41Here's my card.
09:42Use the cell number in case anything comes up,
09:44no matter how small.
09:45We'll do.
09:46Deputy?
09:47It's very nice to meet both of you.
09:48And again, sorry for the confusion.
09:49No worries.
09:53Maybe SEAL?
09:54Focus, boot.
09:55I'm gonna do a sweep of the house.
09:57No ingress and egress points, escape avenues and sight lines.
09:59Report back in 10.
10:00Yes, sir.
10:03How's it going?
10:04Fine, thanks.
10:07Out.
10:08No.
10:09No, Ian loser.
10:12Hey.
10:14There is an Ian loser.
10:197 out of 15.
10:20False imprisonment call.
10:226991 West Elroy.
10:23Go to I.
10:28She's got him locked up in there.
10:30Haven't been able to reach him in days.
10:31Who?
10:32My boyfriend.
10:33Who's got him locked up?
10:34His mother.
10:37His mother?
10:38Look, no offense, but could it be that he just doesn't want to see you?
10:40No, she's really sharp and she hates that we're together.
10:44Please.
10:45I'm really worried.
10:50Police, open up!
10:53Police!
10:54Ugh.
10:58Wait!
10:59I have a key!
11:00I have a key!
11:01Stay back.
11:05No!
11:13No!
11:14No!
11:14No!
11:15No!
11:16Please!
11:17Stop!
11:18Mom!
11:18Please!
11:19The Lord sustains my life!
11:22Turn back the evil upon my bones!
11:25In your faithfulness, destroy them!
11:28And by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, may you be snatched away and driven from the church
11:33of God.
11:38From all the souls made in the image and likeness of God, and redeemed by the precious blood
11:43of the divine lamb, I cast you-
11:46Ow!
11:47Stop!
11:47Get away from him!
11:48That's enough!
11:49No!
11:50You'll have to let me save him!
11:51He's been possessed by the dark one!
11:53That's all I need.
11:54R-8-6-9-9-1 West Elroy, teenage Hispanic male suffering from dehydration.
12:00What did you do to him, you sick bitch?!
12:01Hey!
12:02No!
12:03No!
12:04He's been possessed by your filth!
12:06No!
12:09No!
12:10No!
12:18Sergeant.
12:20Yes?
12:21Did you countermand my vehicle reassignment order?
12:24I thought that was a mistake.
12:26You reassigned all our extra shops to LAX.
12:29What are we supposed to use if one of our cars breaks in?
12:31Inventory lists and mountain bikes.
12:33We'll use those.
12:34Yeah.
12:34Exercise is good for the soul.
12:36Less helpful in the high-speed pursuit.
12:37I have got a doctor's appointment, and then lunch with the deputy chief.
12:41So, make sure those monthly reports are on my desk when I get back.
12:43Yes, sir!
12:49Wow.
12:51He seems fun.
12:52Damn.
12:53What are you doing there?
12:54Uh, your wife called me.
12:55She said that you were considering throwing the new captain out the window.
12:58And you came to talk me out of it.
12:59Or open the window.
13:00Which, everyone seems more productive.
13:04He's hurt morale.
13:05And our ability to do our jobs.
13:08He's not the first pencil pusher you've worked for, right?
13:10And he probably won't be the last, so it is your job to find a workaround.
13:20You think the kid will be okay?
13:22Physically, yes.
13:22But mentally, I'm not so sure.
13:24I still can't believe a mother would do that to her own son.
13:27Sadly, it's not the worst thing I've seen a parent do.
13:29Oh, uh, hey, do you mind if I take this call?
13:32Okay.
13:33Thanks.
13:34Why?
13:36What?
13:37What?
13:38Mom?
13:38Slow down.
13:39What?
13:39Is he okay?
13:42Did they send him to Shaw Memorial?
13:44Okay.
13:45Yeah.
13:45No, that's good.
13:46My dad got attacked by one of his patients.
13:48They think his arm is broken.
13:52I'll go as soon as my shift's done, okay?
13:55But we'll go now.
13:56Uh, okay.
13:57I'm gonna go right now, and I'll call you right after I see him, okay?
14:01I love you, too.
14:02Um, thanks.
14:04My mom is out of town at a conference.
14:06Are you sure this is okay?
14:07Yeah, it's family.
14:09Control, have a unit meet us at Shaw Memorial for a prisoner transfer.
14:12Also, show us 10-6 personal.
14:18The whole house is about 1,900 square feet upstairs.
14:21There's two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a very small attic.
14:24Sight lines are blocked from the east.
14:26I'm bored!
14:27Not our problem.
14:29Oh, it is killing me not having internet access.
14:33Or a phone.
14:35They actually gave me newspapers.
14:37What do they think, I'm an animal?
14:38Sir, we're here to keep you alive, not entertained.
14:40So step back.
14:41Let us do our job.
14:42He doesn't like me, does he?
14:44He probably thinks I'm a traitor.
14:45I'm not here to judge you, sir.
14:46Just keep you safe.
14:48He's very good.
14:49Very reassuring.
14:51I'm gonna have a beer.
14:52You guys want one?
14:53No, thank you.
14:54Shocker.
15:09Officer Nolan?
15:10Yes, sir.
15:11I read about you in the newspaper.
15:13Your captain got killed in the line of duty.
15:17Sounded like a real badass.
15:19She was.
15:20Your name was all over that article.
15:22Pretty heroic stuff.
15:25We're not heroic enough.
15:35Gino.
15:36Hey.
15:36Uh, I'm looking for my dad.
15:37He was brought in a little while ago.
15:38Broken arm?
15:39Uh, yeah.
15:40He's in bed, too.
15:41I'm so sorry.
15:42Yeah, thanks.
15:45Do we know what his status is?
15:46Doctor saw him in schedule for x-rays.
15:48Depending how bad the break is, he might need surgery.
15:51Uh, I'll goose the process along.
15:53Put in a room request.
15:54Thanks.
15:55Yeah.
16:01Hey.
16:02Are you okay?
16:04I'm fine.
16:06Your mother shouldn't have called you.
16:07Of course she should have.
16:08What happened?
16:09I was in the middle of some alternative anger management therapy,
16:13and my patient lost control.
16:15What's his name?
16:16Why?
16:18Because he broke your arm.
16:20No.
16:21He had a dissociative episode.
16:23He didn't mean to hurt me.
16:25It doesn't matter.
16:26The law is clear.
16:27The law is broken.
16:29Ow.
16:31Oh.
16:31Oh.
16:32Oh.
16:36Oh.
16:36He got my overl eyes of young anh low.
16:49So you think this is the solution to pretend that this didn't happen.
16:53It's a better solution than letting you lock him up.
16:56Now I'm in pain.
16:58So if you're more worried about being a cop
17:00than being my daughter,
17:03maybe you should leave.
17:08You can sit down. I'm not gonna bite.
17:11I'm good.
17:12Of course. You can see yourself.
17:16Your partner there's a real hard-ass, huh?
17:19I had a supervisor just like him at Border Patrol.
17:22He got off on pushing buttons.
17:24He's my training officer,
17:26and we're not discussing this.
17:28I always forget that you are a rookie.
17:31They must chap your ass
17:33to be bossed around by a younger guy like that.
17:35Not at all. It's the only way I'm gonna learn.
17:39I'm not buying it.
17:40A guy like that?
17:42Oh, man, he is all sorts of superior.
17:45He probably thinks that I smuggled people
17:47over the border for the money.
17:50I watched people die
17:53every day trying to cross that border,
17:55desperate for a new life.
17:57And after a few years of that,
17:59I couldn't take it anymore.
18:01I decided to do something and help them.
18:04And so, yeah, I made some money.
18:06But there are people that are alive today
18:08because of me.
18:10I had no idea you were such a humanitarian.
18:14What about the people you smuggled out of the country,
18:17the, uh, cartel members, fugitives from justice?
18:21Okay, yeah, that was for the money, but...
18:29Hey, you.
18:30What are you wearing?
18:32I am at the safe house right now.
18:34Did you meet my friend Sean?
18:35I did. You dated a Navy SEAL.
18:37I'm gonna kill him.
18:38Yes, I did.
18:39It was for about two months,
18:42right after my divorce.
18:43Was he team six?
18:44Are you asking if my ex shot Bin Laden?
18:47Yeah, just didn't have her.
18:48Thank you for your service.
18:49Come on away.
18:50Gotta go.
18:51Yeah, we'll keep it locked down here.
18:52Let us know ASAP.
18:54DA's office just discovered a credible threat
18:56against our guy.
18:57Cartel hit team.
18:58Trying to figure out if the safe house
18:59has been compromised.
19:04Well, that looks a little awkward.
19:07Sure does.
19:09There's the station.
19:09Gino, hey.
19:11I, uh, tried calling your cell.
19:13Yeah, I-I know.
19:14I didn't answer.
19:17Hello?
19:18Gino.
19:20You hung up.
19:21Why?
19:22What did you do?
19:24Nothing.
19:25Um, do you mind if we stop by the hospital
19:26after lunch?
19:28Not unless you get food poisoning.
19:30Are they sitting back up?
19:32That's unclear.
19:33It's not like they're scrambling to assess the situation.
19:35Hey, guys.
19:37Something going on?
19:38You seem stressed.
19:39Nothing.
19:40If there's a problem,
19:41I deserve to know.
19:42It's my life that's on the line.
19:43Sit your ass back down.
19:45Make me.
19:54All right, all right!
19:55Get on the back!
19:57Get on the back!
19:58Get on the back!
19:59Get on the back!
20:00Get over there!
20:00Get off!
20:04Hey!
20:05Everybody under your desk!
20:09Everybody down!
20:17It's an earthquake.
20:20Get out!
20:27Wade!
20:30Wade!
20:32There you go!
20:33Hey!
20:38I got you.
20:44That was a pretty good one.
20:48I'm gonna check the house,
20:49make sure we're still five by five.
20:51Watch him.
20:54Ever been through an earthquake before?
20:56Yeah, they take some getting used to.
20:59Um, are those guys supposed to be here?
21:03Away from there.
21:04No, we were because of their
21:04No.
21:05No, no.
21:05We're not getting used to it.
21:06No, no, no.
21:11I was getting used to it.
21:20Oh, no.
21:32No, no.
21:32I didn't get used to it.
21:34You're gonna do it.
21:34Yeah.
21:35And you weren't on the hit squad?
21:36No.
21:37Radios are down.
21:38Phone.
21:39We're on our own.
21:50Okay.
21:51Okay.
21:52Let's get you to this table.
21:55Let's sit you down.
21:57I'm good.
21:57I'm good.
21:57Let me take a look.
21:59All right.
21:59That's gonna need a few stitches.
22:01This is not a priority.
22:03Call out if you're injured.
22:06Hello?
22:07Hello?
22:07Landlines are down.
22:08Seven out of 100.
22:09Status report.
22:11Hello?
22:13So are the radios.
22:14Where's the captain?
22:15A doctor's appointment.
22:16Or maybe lunch by now.
22:18Everyone.
22:19Everyone.
22:20Listen up.
22:21We trained for this.
22:23First priority is assessment.
22:26Lennox Hall.
22:27Sweep the station for casualties.
22:28If anyone needs to go home to check on your family,
22:31you're dismissed.
22:31We take care of our own.
22:33Come back when you can.
22:34It's all right.
22:35What calms down,
22:36we skip right to the old school part of the manual.
22:39This is a city with people in crisis.
22:42We will serve them.
22:43We will protect them.
22:44And we will make them safe.
22:46Understand?
22:47All right, let's go.
22:48Let's go.
22:53All right.
22:53Make sure you're watching out for the class.
22:55Can I please get some more bags?
22:57Please.
22:59You're gonna need to hold that to your base machine.
23:01You're holding that up.
23:02Hey, keep this elevated.
23:03Keep it up.
23:03Keep it up.
23:03Can I take this out real quick?
23:12Officers, can you help?
23:13Let's get out there.
23:14He needs help.
23:17Calm down.
23:18We'll get to you.
23:19I'm working as fast as I can.
23:21Hey!
23:21Hey, ladies and gentlemen!
23:23Ladies and gentlemen, I need you to form a single file line in order of your arrival.
23:28Now, people!
23:29Right now!
23:30Single file.
23:31This letter right here, yeah?
23:32Yeah.
23:33Listen up.
23:34Guys, settle down.
23:35Excuse me.
23:36Scott Lacerations.
23:37You can wait.
23:38Good.
23:39Everybody.
23:44Stress friction.
23:45You can wait.
23:46Gino?
23:47Gino.
23:48All right.
23:49Just try to sit up.
23:50Try to sit up.
23:51Hey.
23:51Hey!
23:53Hey!
23:54I need a trauma team.
23:55Possible a turn of bleeding.
24:06Would it help if I said I was sorry?
24:09I think the earthquake set off my fight or flight response.
24:12Save it.
24:12I can't get through the DA's office or the station.
24:14Radios are down.
24:15Phone lines are overwhelmed.
24:17Get ready to move.
24:17Can't take a chance.
24:18This place has been compromised.
24:19That's dumb.
24:20Why would we run around the city?
24:21There's no cover.
24:22No concealment.
24:23I say we stay put from a tactical standpoint.
24:26You don't get a vote.
24:27You hit me in the head.
24:31There's no one else in the house, right?
24:32If there is, shoot them.
24:56We gotta get out of here.
24:57Back door.
24:57Four fists are coming out there, too.
24:59Daniel, shoot them.
24:59We're setting ducks here.
25:00You go.
25:01I'm not going anywhere.
25:02Go.
25:03No.
25:03Move!
25:04Ah!
25:04Come on!
25:06Come on.
25:10Ah!
25:15Ah!
25:19Ah!
25:24Ah!
25:26Ah!
25:30Ah!
25:31Ah!
25:32Oh!
25:39Come on, come on. Go, go, go, go.
25:42Come on.
25:48We need transportation.
25:50In case you haven't noticed, there's a sniper between us and our car.
25:53Hold here. Head on a swivel.
25:55This is stupid. We're sitting ducked.
25:56Shut up.
25:57You're in way over your ass.
25:58This is the guy being hunted by the cartel hit squad.
26:07Nice car. Inconspicuous.
26:09Get in the back.
26:11What's the plan? Back to the station?
26:13No. That's what these guys expect us to go.
26:15The safest thing is to get lost.
26:16Let's go to the last place they think to look for us.
26:18I know just the place.
26:27Yep. That's definitely the last place I'd look for us.
26:35Oh, I hate to be that guy, but I don't need some sunblock.
26:39I burn real easy.
26:41I don't have any, but I could bury up to your neck in the sand
26:43and put a trash can on your head.
26:44I'm fine.
26:54Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not putting that on.
26:55The wound is gonna leak. Do you want blood running into your eye all day?
27:00That's what I thought.
27:01Oh, my goodness.
27:03Yeah.
27:08We good?
27:08Wait, wait. Stay right there. One picture. Just one.
27:11One. Just one.
27:12All right. I'm ready. Let's go.
27:15All right. Radio tower's down.
27:16ETA on repair is at least an hour.
27:19Phone services are swamped.
27:21Only 20% of the calls are getting through.
27:23So we're going to mark
27:26every priority one call on the map
27:28so we can all see where the trouble spots are.
27:30Sir, Captain called in on my line with orders for you.
27:40Our fearless leader wants me to immediately dispatch a unit to Bel Air
27:44to guard against looters.
27:46And he also wants one sent to his own block.
27:48You believe this guy?
27:49There's no way I'm doing this.
27:51Oh, yes, you are.
27:52He's the captain.
27:53Disobeying orders like that will do nothing but get you fired.
28:10Hey.
28:12Sorry to interrupt. How's you feeling?
28:13Uh, better.
28:15Thank you for saving him.
28:16Of course.
28:17It's my job.
28:19What's going to happen to my mom?
28:21Is she going to jail?
28:24That's not my call.
28:26She's facing serious charges.
28:29But her state of mind will be taken into consideration.
28:32And if you can advocate on her behalf,
28:35there's a chance she could avoid prison
28:36and get the treatment she needs.
28:44Control, 7 Adam 7.
28:46Show us on patrol in Bel Air.
28:48Still no words from Gino?
28:49Nothing.
28:50What if he's hurt?
28:52Or worse.
28:53And the last thing I said to him wasn't anger.
28:55Odds are he's fine.
28:57Quake wasn't that big and the hospital's retrofit.
29:00This is a waste of time and resources.
29:02The last thing people are going to do
29:03when the city's at a standstill is drive up to Bel Air and loot.
29:07Or maybe not.
29:23Front door is open.
29:41They're retreated inside.
29:43Let's go.
29:48Stay focused.
29:57Remember your training.
29:58Keep it cool.
29:59Keep it tight.
30:17Hands up.
30:17Don't shoot.
30:18Come out of there.
30:19What?
30:19You dropped the gun.
30:20Don't leave me because...
30:21What the hell happened to you?
30:22My boss.
30:22He's lost his mind.
30:23What, a fat guy in a kimono?
30:25Yeah.
30:25Tommy Lamont.
30:26I'm his assistant.
30:26He was on day three of a coke binge when the earthquake hit
30:28and now he thinks it's the end of the world.
30:30I'm still lost on the welts.
30:32He had us hunting each other throughout the house with BB guns
30:34to stay sharp on the upcoming apocalypse.
30:37You're kidding.
30:38I wish, but then when it hit, he got into the gun cabinet
30:41and I was terrified he would forget which was which.
30:44Can you turn off that alarm?
30:46Yes.
30:46Go do that, then wait outside.
30:53On me.
31:05Jonah!
31:09Jonah!
31:20Mr. Lamont, LAPD!
31:23Mr. Lamont, I need you to stand where I can see you
31:26and put your weapons on the ground.
31:28I'm not falling for that.
31:29I saw that episode of Midnight Apocalypse
31:31where they steal the police uniforms.
31:34This guy thought it was mine.
31:35Sir, you're not thinking straight.
31:36We're here to help you.
31:37I don't believe you!
31:39It's just a BB.
31:41That alarm is eating into my brain.
31:44Jonah's taking care of that.
31:46What have you done with Jonah?
31:47He's fine.
31:48Jonah is fine.
31:49He's helping us.
31:50He's going to take care of that alarm.
31:52Are you tricked him?
31:54He's helping you steal my rations.
31:56Jonah!
31:57Don't listen to them!
31:59Don't trust them!
32:00I'm going to be here all day.
32:04Mr. Lamont, I'm going to confide in you,
32:06but you can't tell anyone.
32:08We have a place all set up.
32:10A bunch of us survivors are heading that way.
32:13Rations that can last for years.
32:15Solar power.
32:16But we need you to trust us
32:18and set down your weapons.
32:28Turn around and put your hands
32:30on the back of your head.
32:31Get on your knees.
32:47Are you okay?
32:48Yeah.
32:49On the bright side,
32:50we finally have a legit reason
32:51to go to the hospital now.
32:53Jonah!
32:54Call my lawyer.
33:01Be a lot nicer without these pups.
33:03Tough.
33:04Text her back online.
33:05It's from the ADA.
33:06The hit team wasn't trying to kill Hayes.
33:08It was trying to rescue him.
33:09You were in on it the whole time?
33:11You set us up to be killed.
33:12No!
33:14Hell yeah.
33:15As much as I love the idea
33:17of being a barista
33:18in armpit Arizona,
33:20I've got other plans.
33:21How did they know how to find you?
33:22You were sequestered.
33:23No phone, no internet.
33:25GPS tracker.
33:26Son of a bitch.
33:27That's not mine.
33:28We gotta get out of here.
33:30Uh-oh.
33:47What do we do now?
33:49You guys just let me walk away.
33:51I mean, nobody gets hurt.
33:53Think how you're gonna feel
33:54if another buddy gets killed
33:55in the line of duty.
33:56Shut up.
33:58So what now?
33:59They can't afford to kill Hayes
34:01without to come up here
34:01and get him.
34:02You do know there's three of them, right?
34:05It's almost a fair fight.
34:06Hook him up.
34:08They'll be right.
34:23They'll be right there.
34:27They'll be right there.
34:34They'll be right there.
34:35They've been right there.
34:36They're not a bad guy.
34:37Get down! Get down now!
34:42Hands behind your back.
34:47So I'm guessing my immunity deal's out the window?
35:01Cafeteria had snickerdoodles.
35:04Can eat before the surgery.
35:09Well, you can have them after.
35:19I know you're disappointed in me.
35:23But you and Mom always taught me to be true to myself.
35:26And this job, it's...
35:31It's who I am.
35:33It makes me happy.
35:37You hate the system because it's designed to punish people, not care for them.
35:41But that will never change unless people like me step up and make it change.
35:50I heard you talking to that patient down the hall.
35:55You were honest with him.
35:57And kind.
35:59I was impressed.
36:03Dr. Chen?
36:05William, I told you not to come.
36:08Dad, who's this?
36:09A friend.
36:11You should go.
36:12I'm so sorry.
36:15That was...
36:17William, did you assault my father?
36:19It was an accident.
36:21I-I-I didn't...
36:22No, Lucy.
36:24Don't.
36:26It'll devastate him.
36:28Destroy all the work we've done.
36:30I'm sorry.
36:31Let him go.
36:32I can't.
36:33I don't have a choice.
36:37I will be right here when you get out of surgery, okay?
36:39Don't bother.
36:49Sorry. Sorry.
36:50No. No.
36:51Don't be.
36:52I deserved to be in a little pain after overreacting this morning.
36:58Just...
36:59My dad is a legend in the LAPD.
37:02Half the people there think I just got in on his name.
37:06Anything I do hits me twice as hard as any other rookie.
37:09So, yeah.
37:11Just try to keep my head down and make everything about the work.
37:16I'm sorry.
37:19It's not easy.
37:21No, it's not easy is admitting how freaked I was
37:25when I couldn't get a hold of you after the earthquake.
37:30I'm sorry for being such an idiot earlier.
37:36Do over.
37:40Do over.
37:44So, I guess it's our bad.
37:46Your bad?
37:47Your guys are supposed to give Hayes a thorough pat down
37:48before bringing him to the safe house.
37:50How the hell did they miss a tracking device?
37:51No, they didn't.
37:51The deputy who patted him down confessed to slipping Hayes the tracking chip.
37:55He's in custody now, too.
37:56So, what's gonna happen to Hayes?
37:57Well, he's facing half a dozen new charges, including two counts of attempted murder.
38:01He'll do 20 years easy.
38:03That's if he still cooperates.
38:07Officer Chen, booking report is only three pages.
38:10Why do you have five?
38:10Um, I thought this arrest warranted a mental health report addendum.
38:16The perpetrator shattered your father's arm.
38:17Are you sure you're not trying to get back into your dad's good graces?
38:20I'm pretty sure that's impossible, but, um, he's not wrong.
38:24This guy needs help, not prison.
38:26So, I'm gonna do what I can to help get that for him.
38:30Good.
38:32Wait.
38:35Was that a test?
38:37What?
38:38You think Bradford has Monopoly on him?
38:44Thanks for the assist today.
38:46Are you kidding me?
38:47That was fun, being back in crisis rooms.
38:49Sergeant Gray!
38:52Yes, sir?
38:53I just got off the phone with my wife.
38:55The patrol that you assigned to my neighbor never showed up.
39:00That's my fault, sir.
39:02I rerouted the officers to assist the traffic collision.
39:05If you want to file a complaint, you'd be well within your rights to do so.
39:09I would.
39:10If I were remaining in command here.
39:13I've just been promoted to headquarters.
39:15Good luck with your next captain.
39:17Oh, good luck to you, sir.
39:23How the hell did that guy get promoted?
39:25Made a few phone calls, sang his praises downtown.
39:29I told them how he single-handedly saved the city.
39:33Doesn't it bother you that he's gonna take credit for everything that you did today?
39:41No.
39:42The people who matter know.
39:44Feel how you want me to.
39:49So, how'd you like your first earthquake?
39:51It was terrifying.
39:55I'm just waiting until the big one hit.
39:59Sean texted me about you.
40:01It looks like you made a fan.
40:04Really?
40:05Mm-hmm.
40:07And I wouldn't have had you not told me about that opportunity, so thank you very much.
40:11I'm sorry that you almost got killed.
40:15You know, right?
40:15Aw.
40:23Is everything okay?
40:25Yeah, yeah.
40:28Was there a reason you didn't tell Sean about me being a rookie?
40:31I didn't know that I was supposed to.
40:35It bothers you?
40:36No, no.
40:37It's just...
40:39You're a very impressive woman.
40:41Very.
40:42The least impressive thing about you is you're dating a 45-year-old rookie.
40:51That's ridiculous.
40:54Look, I...
40:56I like you.
40:58You like me.
41:01You're not always gonna be a rookie, and I will always be this amazing.
41:08So...
41:10What's wrong with them?
41:17Nothing.
41:22Nothing.
