This is the bizarre true story of Kahleah Copper's on-court misunderstanding with Caitlin Clark during the 2024 WNBA matchup between the Phoenix Mercury and the Indiana Fever.
Transcript
00:00The ball bounced off the backboard and just as it was about to hit her opponent's head,
00:04Caitlin Clark swatted it away to protect her. However, Kalia Copper, already on edge after
00:10half a game of fending off Clark's attacks, misunderstood what happened. She stepped
00:14towards Clark, preparing to give her a piece of her mind. It wasn't a surprise that things
00:19were heating up between the two teams. Kalia Copper's Phoenix Mercury had been walking all
00:23over Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever for the first half of the game. However, after some incredible
00:28plays by the Fever in the second half, including this insane three-point shot from the logo by
00:34Clark, they had been fighting back. Copper had been tasked with guarding Clark, so as the pressure
00:39mounted and the Fever continued breaking through, it was only natural that things got a little tense.
00:44Thankfully, Copper's teammates cleared up the confusion before she could say anything she'd
00:48regret. The Fever ended up winning the game in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and Kalia
00:53Copper eventually swallowed her pride and apologized to Caitlin Clark for the misunderstanding.
