00:00Yeah, very proud. I think it's really important that we're showing compassion and support for
00:05all young people that come to Maristola Academy, regardless of their background,
00:09their sexuality, their culture, their race. I just think it's important to see the individual
00:13in a person. So I think it's about educating people to be accepting. And you know, one of
00:19our school values is compassion. I think it's really important that young people grow up,
00:23you know, understanding what compassion is.
00:25We've got Nairn, Cualdin and Alness. So just such different areas all coming into one place.
00:30It's so important. We don't have any LGBT club like in Inverness. So events like this are really
00:36important for youth to come together and meet each other. I just have a bit of fun, honestly,
00:41knowing how our school fought to have this club. I know that I get to be such a huge part
00:45of it and
00:46I get to have such an important role in it. It's so incredible to see.
00:49It's good. I like the celebration of the Pride Month. It's really done well and
00:55it's good that it's in the Inverness Royal Academy. Hoping that people can support the LGBTQ
01:01community. It's just like a good thing to do so people can like be with people like them.
01:08You can just see the smiles on their faces. I mean, they're all really happy. There's no one here
01:12that's sort of miserable sat in the corner. So we hope next year to invite more schools.
01:16This year we have a lot of people who couldn't go. So we're excited to invite hopefully more people.
01:20There's a couple of my students who've come up to me through the event to just tell me how much
01:24fun
01:24they're having and to thank me for putting on the event. And that's a rare thing to get a sincere
01:30thank you from several teenagers in a row. So that's no, it's been really good.
01:33One of the things that the students themselves were really keen to do this year was invite more
01:37schools. Because what we found out last year when we tried to invite a lot of schools was that
01:42there are most of the schools in the Highland don't have an LGBT club.
01:46The difference it makes is enormous and it makes these students more confident
01:51in feeling entitled to a safe space as well because they know there is one here for them.
01:56Show compassion towards others. Everybody's a human being. Everyone deserves to be respected.
