00:00What the?
00:01I'm coming to the cottage.
00:02Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:03And today, we're counting down our picks for the most heartwarming moments featuring LGBTQIA plus TV characters.
00:09For this list, we're excluding animated shows.
00:12There are some major spoilers here, so a spoiler alert is in effect.
00:16So, who's the girl?
00:19The girl you're singing about?
00:24There is no girl.
00:27Number 20. Lafayette Reynolds and Jesus Velasquez's nine-hour date.
00:31True blood.
00:32We've never seen the wisecrack-slinging fry cook at Merlot's at a loss for words.
00:36Lafayette Reynolds has no idea what to say when his mother's handsome nurse decides to wait until the end of
00:40his shift just to talk to him.
00:42It's only nine hours.
00:44Nothing else to do.
00:49After you.
00:53Oh, lordy.
00:54A notorious and shameless flirt, it's clear Lafayette may have met his match in Jesus Velasquez.
00:59After his nine-hour shift ends, the two shoot pool and talk.
01:02In a world populated by fairies, shapeshifters, and bloodthirsty vampires and werewolves,
01:07these two are one of True Blood's loveliest and easiest-to-root-for couples.
01:11That is not my thing.
01:13No.
01:14I've still got to look at you.
01:20Did you look at me?
01:21No.
01:23I can't be looking at folk with all that grease flying around in the kitchen.
01:27Right.
01:29But I saw you.
01:31Number 19.
01:32Clark Griffin and Lexa's first kiss.
01:34The Hundred.
01:34Post-apocalyptic clan warfare is already complicated.
01:38Clark Griffin leads the Sky People, while Lexa leads the Earth-dwelling Grounders.
01:42The dead are gone, Clark.
01:47The living are hungry.
01:49At first, their relationship is unnecessary evil.
01:52Keeping peace is essential in a constantly evolving world where resources and territory
01:56are paramount.
01:57In season two, a tense meeting between Clark and Lexa becomes a moment of passion.
02:01Maybe life should be about more than just surviving.
02:07Don't we deserve better than that?
02:12Maybe we do.
02:17These are two women who cannot afford to let their guard down.
02:20For a brief moment, they're able to forget the weight of the world is on their shoulders.
02:25Their first kiss sets the stage for one of the show's most popular couples.
02:30I'm sorry.
02:31I'm not ready to be with anyone.
02:39Not yet.
02:40Number 18.
02:41Elena Alvarez and Sid's first kiss.
02:44One day at a time.
02:45Norman Lear's Netflix reboot of the 70s classic modernizes the story in more ways than one.
02:50The sexuality of the eldest Alvarez sister, Elena, is a major part of her storyline.
02:54So I guess you're stuck with me.
03:00In the second season, she meets and falls for Sid, her non-binary classmate.
03:05Forced to stay together during a neighborhood lockdown, a misunderstanding leads Sid to think
03:09Elena's just not that into them.
03:11Elena doesn't know how else to convince Sid except to kiss them, only to be interrupted
03:15by a passing police helicopter.
03:17Please go back inside.
03:20Kissing teenagers.
03:22Please go back inside.
03:24In a minute!
03:26It's a perfect mixture of that coming-of-age awkwardness, quirky humor, and heartstring
03:31pulling that one day at a time does so well.
03:33How about we protect each other?
03:37Deal.
03:41Number 17.
03:43Angel Evangelista and Lil Poppy Evangelista propose to each other.
03:46Pose.
03:47Angel has been let down by love before.
03:49As a housing-unstable trans woman and sex worker on the mean streets of New York City,
03:53she finds her family in the ballroom.
03:55That's also where she finds the love of her life, Poppy.
03:58Poppy, your heart is so pure.
04:01Your belief in me never shakes.
04:04You taught me how to feel safe.
04:07You know, in a world where tomorrow's not guaranteed for us girls, safety is everything.
04:15You've shown me how to feel loved.
04:17The scene where they propose to each other feels like one of Pose's most enduring moments
04:21of happiness.
04:22It's especially poignant considering what Angel had gone through in the show's first season.
04:26Poppy loves her unconditionally.
04:28On three.
04:31One.
04:32Two.
04:33Three.
04:34Will you marry me?
04:36Duh.
04:36Yeah.
04:39In a series that's often about finding fleeting comfort in a world that's afraid of what
04:43makes its characters different, watching their enthusiastic commitment to each other,
04:46feel so hopeful.
04:48Number 16.
04:49Casey Gardner kisses Izzy Taylor.
04:51Atypical.
04:52It takes two seasons of Atypical for besties and fellow track runners Casey and Izzy to
04:56figure out what their confused feelings were all about.
04:58Izzy makes it clear that she is crushing on Casey, but it isn't until a late night run
05:02on the school track that the two finally connect.
05:04Even if you don't feel the same, you can at least be there for me as a friend.
05:09You're making me feel crazy.
05:11The moment of catharsis turns out to be just what they needed to take their budding feelings
05:16to the next level, with Casey impulsively kissing Izzy.
05:19While it only opens them up to even more what-are-we questions, it's still a touching
05:23start to the inevitable romance we've been waiting for.
05:25It's good to have friends.
05:27We're friends.
05:28Friends.
05:28Friends.
05:29Friends.
05:30What was I supposed to say?
05:32I don't know the truth.
05:33When I told you the truth, you ran away.
05:36True?
05:38I'm sorry.
05:40You came around.
05:41Number 15.
05:42Tony Topaz rescues Cheryl Blossom.
05:44Riverdale.
05:45If revenge is a dish best served cold, my mother and Uncle Claudius better brace themselves
05:50for a polar vortex.
05:51If you know anything about Riverdale, you might remember Cheryl Blossom being sent to
05:56a convent for gay conversion therapy as one of its most infamous storylines.
05:59Cheryl's friends track her down to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and search every inch of the
06:04forbidden dungeon of the place.
06:06When we get to the main building, what happens then?
06:08We search each and every damn room until we find her.
06:11It's Tony who finds her in a screening room, forced to watch homophobic propaganda.
06:16The daring rescue and kiss in front of a room full of the facility's other captive teens
06:20is a fist-pumping climax worthy of an 80s teen movie.
06:32Number 14.
06:33Every Curve, Every Sigh, Every Taste.
06:36Wynonna Earp.
06:37Lovingly dubbed Way Hot by the show's fans, Waverly and Nicole have a four-season arc in
06:42Wynonna Earp that's steamy and passionate in all the ways a great romance can be.
06:52In the episode Look at Them Beans, the two are cuddling in bed when Waverly tells her
06:56about the time a demon tried to fool her with a fake version of Nicole.
06:59She wasn't fooled.
07:00The reason being, she knows Nicole too well.
07:03You know every curve, every sigh, every taste.
07:10Not even the craftiest demon could replicate that.
07:12This is so intimate that it makes us wonder if we should see ourselves out.
07:16Can I come with you?
07:18Always.
07:19Number 13.
07:20Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett Get Married.
07:23Modern Family.
07:24Relax, enjoy.
07:26The car will pick you up at four to whisk you away to your beautiful hilltop wedding.
07:31Though Cam and Mitch were together for years before the start of Modern Family,
07:34it still took another five seasons before we finally saw them tie the knot.
07:39By the time they actually walked down the aisle,
07:41the grooms-to-be had to contend with multiple obstacles.
07:44This included their daughter Lily triggering a closed dry cleaner security alarm
07:48and a wildfire threatening to derail the entire affair.
07:52Attention!
07:53Attention, please!
07:55The fire has jumped the freeway.
07:56I'm really sorry, folks.
07:57I'm gonna have to evacuate everyone immediately.
07:59Following Sal's water breaking,
08:01several venue changes and Mitch almost canceling the wedding entirely,
08:06Jay ultimately saves the day thanks to the country club.
08:09Mitch and Cam are subsequently married in a touching ceremony
08:11that sees Phil taking over as celebrant,
08:14Claire giving a speech in voiceover,
08:15and the two men taking each other as husbands and becoming spouses for life.
08:19You may now kiss your husband.
08:23Number 12.
08:25Zoe Rivas Asks Rasha Zuwabi To Prom
08:27Degrassi Next Class
08:29What are these?
08:31The night we shared ice cream?
08:33They eat a lot of food.
08:35The fifth installment of the Degrassi franchise introduced a storyline that mirrored real-world events
08:39involving Syrian refugees being accepted into various countries.
08:43Rasha Zuwabi enters the school after it opens its doors to refugees
08:46and quickly develops feelings for Zoe.
08:49The two eventually start dating and end up going to prom together.
08:52Zoe Rivas and Rasha Zuwabi!
08:56It's always heartwarming to see two LGBTQ plus characters attending something as normal as prom,
09:02and this scene did not disappoint.
09:04But it was the way that Zoe asked Rasha to the event two episodes earlier that makes our list,
09:09creatively and originally sticking up multiple post-it notes featuring relationship memories
09:13and the future memory of their dancing at prom together.
09:17Rasha, you make every day one to remember.
09:21Will you help make prom day just as special?
09:24Number 11.
09:24Danny Clayton and Jamie Taylor's love story, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
09:28The final episode of this supernatural Netflix drama gives us a chance to see the story of Danny
09:33and Jamie outside the confines of the oppressive Bly Manor.
09:36The nanny and the gardener take to each other while living in the weird and wicked atmosphere of the estate.
09:40An expanded montage shows us a highlight reel of their escape to America and the life they build together.
09:45I'm not sick of you.
09:48At all.
09:50I'm actually pretty in love with you, it turns out.
09:59Through these snapshots, we watch their love deepen without the use of long, drawn-out dialogue scenes.
10:04It gives us a sweet and ultimately bittersweet glimpse into what could have been if the story were kinder to
10:10them.
10:10At long last, deep within the au pair's heart, there was peace.
10:18And that peace held for years, which is more than some of us ever get.
10:24Number 10.
10:25Scott Hunter and Kip Grady's Kiss on the Ice.
10:27Heated Rivalry.
10:28Yeah, you.
10:30Come.
10:32Who?
10:33Rosanoff and Hollander might be the main event, but it's the public confirmation of star hockey player Scott Hunter
10:38that remains one of Heated Rivalry's most romantic scenes.
10:41The player, who had previously not been publicly open about his sexuality,
10:45pulls his secret boyfriend Kip onto the ice and kisses him in front of everyone.
10:49For all he knows, Scott may be risking his public image and his career.
10:53That's what makes it so powerful.
10:55The way it turns up the heat and indirectly moves Rosanoff and Hollander's story along at the same time
11:00makes it an iconic and deeply moving gesture.
11:03I love you so much.
11:04I love you so much.
11:09You don't see that every day.
11:11Number 9.
11:12Willow Rosenberg and Tara MacLeigh Kiss.
11:15Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
11:16You sure it's not in your room?
11:18I can look again.
11:20When Buffy premiered on the WB in 1997,
11:23it quickly became a hit.
11:24Fan-favorite Willow, who is a witch,
11:27served as a major milestone in representation when she came out as a lesbian in season 4.
11:32It's complicated.
11:35Because of Tara.
11:36In this scene with her girlfriend Tara,
11:38Willow is panicking over what to wear in order to support a grieving Buffy.
11:43Right as she's about to lose it,
11:45Tara comes over to her and holds her.
11:47I can't do this.
11:55In a time when most same-sex embraces were either quick pecs or hugs,
12:00their kiss was passionate and revealed how caring and supportive their relationship was.
12:05You can be strong.
12:07Strong like an Amazon.
12:09Strong like an Amazon, right?
12:10Number 8.
12:11Amanita Neitz Kaplan rescues Nomi Marks.
12:14Sense8.
12:17Nomi Marks is one of eight individuals called Sense8s
12:20who are connected via an emotional and mental tether.
12:23She's in a relationship with Amanita throughout this Netflix show's two-season stint.
12:27Nomi is one of the first hunted Sense8s,
12:30and she gets trapped in a hospital by her transphobic mother
12:33and a doctor who is determined to lobotomize her.
12:36You can't keep me here against my will.
12:39Oh, I'm sorry, but we can.
12:41In this scene, Amanita, who already proved her awesomeness as a partner
12:46when she sticks up for Nomi against transphobic women at Pride,
12:49comes to Nomi's rescue after tracking her down.
12:52Do you need help, miss?
12:53Excuse me.
12:55Officer!
12:55She's mine.
12:56Call her.
12:56There is so much loyalty present within this queer relationship,
13:00and this moment of rescue had us on the edge of our seats and swooning.
13:04I love you.
13:06Come on.
13:09I got you.
13:10I got you.
13:12Come on.
13:12You're safe.
13:13Number seven.
13:14Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring's first kiss, Heartstopper.
13:17It's kind of noisy in here, isn't it?
13:20Yeah.
13:22Should we go somewhere collider again?
13:26Okay.
13:26The British teen drama Heartstopper carried many of its source material's visual motifs into the series.
13:31Cartoon graphics of little hearts fluttering and zaps of electricity
13:34make the two young boys' feelings known without words.
13:37You kissed me.
13:55Yeah.
13:58Yeah.
14:00and Charlie go in for their first clandestine kiss at a party, the air between them is literally
14:05electric. Dancing around their feelings for each other and afraid to open up for very different
14:09reasons, they are both uncertain until the kiss. What makes it great is what makes the show great.
14:14It's a small moment made big by the emotions involved.
14:18Number 6. Ian Gallagher proposes to Mikhailo Mickey Alexander Milkovich. Shameless.
14:23Unfortunately for you, I'm not the kind of guy who lets people talk shit about the man he loves,
14:28so can you hold this for me? The Gallagher family and its various members are complex. Ian Gallagher
14:35is gay and bipolar, and his trajectory throughout the show is an emotional one. He develops a
14:40relationship with Mickey Milkovich in season 1, and the two separate and get back together multiple
14:45times throughout the series. In season 10, they eventually get married. In a uniquely Gallagher
14:50move, Ian proposes to Mickey in the midst of a bar brawl, while on crutches.
14:54I love you, Mickey Milkovich. More than anything.
15:01Unlike other pretty stereotypical proposals, this one was simultaneously absurd and perfect.
15:08And if you'll let me, I'd like to spend the rest of my life...
15:12Jesus Christ, save the fucking speech.
15:37If you couldn't already tell, we are big fans of Schitt's Creek here at Ms. Mojo. Patrick and David
15:43started going out in season 3. In addition to being the grounded compliment to David's more
15:47ethereal energy, Patrick is also a wonderful singer.
15:51My boy right now is being serenaded by his butter-voiced gold.
15:55In the next season, he serenades David during an open mic at Rose Apothecary in front of what
16:01appears to be almost the whole town.
16:03You're simply the best.
16:06Better than all the rest.
16:08The boldness of Patrick's singing in front of so many people, the maintained eye contact
16:13between the two, and David's failed attempts at hiding his joy, make this moment full of
16:18charm and delight. We know we've said it before, but these two are simply the best.
16:23Oh, you're the best.
16:27Number 4. Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins say I love you.
16:30Grey's Anatomy.
16:31Callie Torres was introduced to the Grey's Anatomy cast in season 2.
16:35If you invest wisely, the payoff might just surprise you.
16:41After initially dating men, she discovered that she was also interested in women.
16:45She and Arizona started seeing one another, and their feelings developed quickly.
16:49They eventually get married, but before that, they had to say I love you for the first time.
16:53In this scene, Callie tries to stay up late for Arizona's birthday,
16:57but falls asleep on the couch before Arizona comes home.
17:00I'm awake. I'm, um, see? I'm, I'm totally awake.
17:04When she does, and sees how much care and effort Callie has put into the night,
17:08Arizona confesses that she loves Callie.
17:10I love you.
17:12Callie trying to stay up for Arizona is incredibly cute,
17:15and Arizona looking at Callie with such love and affection makes this scene irresistible.
17:21You do?
17:23I do.
17:25Number 3.
17:26Magnus Bain and Alec Lightwood's marriage, Shadowhunters.
17:30The love I have for you is a love that knows no bounds.
17:34A warlock and a shadowhunter in love.
17:37Magnus and Alec get married in the series finale of the sci-fi show
17:40after a passionate whirlwind romance.
17:43Like, remember their first kiss?
17:45Alec, what are you doing?
17:52Their wedding is beautiful, from the flower petals raining down and the sultry color-coordinated
17:58decorations, to the beaming smiles on the faces of the grooms.
18:01It's a perfect full circle from the stopped wedding between Alec and Lydia of season 1.
18:06With their friends and family watching, the two deliver their eternal vows and seal their
18:11marriage with a kiss.
18:12And it's perfect.
18:13Full of magic and Malick goodness.
18:16It is my honor to pronounce you one.
18:20I get to love you.
18:23Number 2.
18:23Bill and Frank at the Piano, The Last of Us.
18:35Several years into the apocalyptic events at the center of HBO's acclaimed video game
18:39adaptation, Bill has gotten used to being alone.
18:42The appearance of a stranger named Frank upends his entire life.
18:45When Frank sits down at the piano and warbles a Linda Ronstadt song, Bill steps in to perform
18:50it the way it's supposed to be sung.
19:10It's at this moment one of the show's major themes becomes clear.
19:13Surviving isn't worth it if there's no one to survive for.
19:17Long, long time became the show's most celebrated episode because of the deep and affecting connection
19:21between the two characters.
19:24If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game, Terrible Influence.
19:29Just launched for purchase at TerribleInfluence.com.
19:32Terrible Influence is a satirical board game about the dark side of fame from the writer
19:36of the most popular girls in school and us, WatchMojo.
19:39Boom.
19:40I can make an apology video.
19:42Oh, you so would.
19:43Click on the link in the description to check out the game and be the first to play Terrible
19:47Influence.
20:01It was a hard choice to pick between popular Glee couples Kurt and Blaine or Brittany and
20:07Santana, as well as whether to combine the two with their group wedding.
20:21But we ultimately went with solo Britannia.
20:24With a more-than-friends relationship first hinted at during season one, Brittany and Santana
20:29spent the rest of the series falling more and more in love with one another.
20:32Our pick for their most romantic moment is their first real kiss on Valentine's Day.
20:36Towards the end of a song sung by the God Squad that Santana dedicated to Brittany, the
20:41two start to slow dance together.
20:43Santana kisses Brittany, and after a moment, Brittany throws her arms around Santana, pulling
20:48her closer.
20:50Cherish the thought.
20:54Ooh.
21:01Their love was front and center, and finally given space to flourish.
21:05Did we miss your favorite couple?
21:07Tell us in the comments.
