00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're ranking every one of Heidi Klum's spooky season transformations,
00:07from the wonderfully weird to the downright spectacular.
00:11Uh, Halloween. It's a big deal. You love Halloween.
00:14For me, the biggest deal.
00:15Why, though?
00:16I don't know, because I'm obsessed with Halloween.
00:19Number 28. Hindu Goddess Kali
00:22At her 2008 New York Halloween party, Heidi appeared in blue makeup,
00:27an elaborate headpiece, and a costume featuring six additional arms.
00:32Her assistant reportedly suggested the idea, and preparing the look took around four hours.
00:38Heidi later recalled the challenge of matching her facial makeup to the bodysuit,
00:42and how the extra arms made the outfit heavy to wear.
00:46Although many attendees were impressed with her costume,
00:49the portrayal drew public criticism from Hindu leaders,
00:52who considered it disrespectful to a sacred deity.
00:55The controversy remains an important part of this costume's history.
01:00Number 27. Human Fireworks
01:02Heidi started her 2019 Halloween celebrations with a little sparkle,
01:07and she brought her husband along for the fun.
01:10Attending Paris Hilton's Beverly Hills party,
01:12she and Tom Cowlitz sported green hair and shimmering silver makeup.
01:17Heidi paired her glittery appearance with a sparkling dress,
01:20while Tom opted for a more casual outfit.
01:23The couple shared affectionate photos on Instagram,
01:26where Heidi captioned one post simply,
01:29fireworks.
01:30This was actually just a warm-up for her annual Halloween bash,
01:33where she unveiled an elaborate alien-inspired creation.
01:37Clearly, one transformation wasn't enough that year.
01:40Heidi Klum might be a master of disguise, but we're not hiding anything.
01:44Scan the QR code on screen and join Ms. Mojo's 24-7 live stream for non-stop pop culture fun.
01:51People go home at 10, 11 o'clock.
01:53I'm like, are you kidding me?
01:54I've just spent, I don't know, 12 hours in hair and makeup,
01:58and you just leave at 11?
02:00No, can't do that.
02:01Number 26. Camouflage
02:03With her bash cancelled in 2020 due to COVID,
02:07Heidi Klum turned Halloween into a family film project instead.
02:10In Heidi Does Halloween, her children, Lenny, Henry, Johan, and Lou,
02:16become toilet-paper-wrapped zombie mummies,
02:19sending their mother scrambling for cover.
02:22Her solution? Disappear into the scenery,
02:25first as a wood-paneled wall and then as a patterned bedspread.
02:29Artist David Gilmore and his team spent about seven hours on each body-painted disguise,
02:35deliberately avoiding the prosthetics of previous years.
02:38The result turned an unusual holiday at home
02:41into a clever showcase for her inventive Halloween costuming.
02:45Number 25. Zombie Mommy
02:47Even without her famous party,
02:50Heidi found a way to make 2021 deliciously unsettling.
02:54In the eight-minute sequel, Heidi Does Halloween 2, Klum's Day,
02:58she returned from the grave as a zombie mother,
03:01complete with decaying skin and detachable body parts.
03:04Her four children joined the production, filmed over two days in a rented Hollywood Hills house.
03:10Makeup artists and practical effects specialists helped stage a particularly messy gag using pea soup and a concealed tube.
03:19With references to horror classics like The Shining, Psycho, and The Exorcist,
03:24this was full-on family filmmaking, Heidi style.
03:27Number 24. Gold Alien
03:29Long before her prosthetics became a Halloween tradition,
03:33Heidi was already thinking in terms of transformation.
03:36For her 2003 party at New York City's LQ,
03:40she coated herself in shimmering body paint and added metallic teeth.
03:44Braids threaded with ribbons, dramatic headgear,
03:47and towering space-age boots completed her alien ensemble.
03:51Her arrival was theatrical.
03:53She emerged from a golden spaceship on stage.
03:56While later costumes would transform her into familiar characters,
04:01this golden extraterrestrial had a personality all its own.
04:04Apparently, a simple entrance was never going to be quite enough for Heidi.
04:09Number 23. Red Witch
04:11Black hats were too predictable for Heidi's fifth annual Halloween party.
04:15In 2004, she arrived at New York's marquee as a scarlet-clad witch,
04:21complete with a towering pointed hat, a fiery wig, and lace-up boots.
04:25She even carried a skeleton on her back,
04:27attached to a backpack that reportedly weighed nearly 50 pounds.
04:31The grand entrance didn't quite go to plan.
04:34Heidi reportedly hoped to fly into the party, but got stuck in her harness.
04:38At least she had company,
04:40with then-boyfriend Seal dressed as the Phantom of the Opera.
04:44Number 22. Forbidden Fruit
04:47For the seventh annual Heidi Klum Halloween party,
04:50the German supermodel took inspiration from the Book of Genesis,
04:53specifically the story of Adam, Eve, and the Forbidden Fruit.
04:58Klum arrived dressed as a snake slithering through the infamous apple,
05:02a costume that her frequent Halloween design collaborator,
05:05Martin Izquierdo, stated was extremely difficult to pull off,
05:09as Klum was pregnant at the time.
05:11Talk about an ingenious way to hide a baby bump.
05:14While she's not afraid to show up to a Halloween party solo,
05:17Klum brought her ex-hubby Seal along for this one,
05:20with the Grammy winner dressed up as the scantily clad Eve.
05:24Uh, hashtag couple goals?
05:26Number 21. The Return to Seal Kitty
05:29Heidi proved that a familiar Halloween staple could still come with a very personal twist.
05:34For her eighth annual bash, held at Hollywood's Green Door in 2007,
05:39she wore a hand-painted gray velvet bodysuit with ears,
05:42a tail, whiskers, colored contacts, and little fangs.
05:46The sweetest little detail hung around her neck,
05:49a heart-shaped tag requesting that anyone finding her return her to her then-husband's seal.
05:55Heidi later shared that personal touch as a costume tip,
05:59suggesting people customize ordinary pet collars.
06:02Even her simpler ideas came with plenty of character.
06:05Number 20. Leather Dirndl
06:08Heidi's first Halloween bash called for something a little unconventional,
06:12and she found inspiration in a familiar piece of German fashion.
06:16At the 2000 gathering in New York City,
06:18she wore shiny black patent leather, studded accessories,
06:22a dark wig with braided pigtails, and bright red lipstick.
06:25Although often labeled a dominatrix costume,
06:29Heidi explained that she was reimagining a Dirndl,
06:32a traditional alpine dress with a fitted bodice and full skirt.
06:35She handled her own hair and makeup back then, too.
06:38The outfit was comparatively simple,
06:40but the annual costume spectacular had officially begun.
06:44Number 19. The Beating Heart Vampire
06:47In 2005, Heidi wore her heart on her sleeve, or rather over her corset.
06:53The elaborate vampire outfit featured a beating, bloodied heart,
06:57oversized fangs, a mass of black curls, and dramatic eye makeup.
07:01A sweeping black cape and thigh-high patent leather boots gave the look gothic glamour.
07:07She unveiled it at her sixth annual Halloween celebration,
07:10held at New York City's Happy Valley.
07:13Seal joined her dressed as a police officer,
07:16making for an amusingly mismatched couple.
07:18Between the theatrical hair and the gruesome accessory,
07:21this vampire knew how to make head's turn.
07:24Number 18. Birds of a Feather
07:26Matching outfits sound romantic until neither person can see properly.
07:31For Heidi's 10th annual Halloween party in 2009,
07:35she and then-husband Seal became black crows at West Hollywood's Voyeur Nightclub.
07:40Their feathery get-ups featured oversized beaks, wings, and dark makeup,
07:45with Heidi adding long lashes.
07:47She reportedly drew inspiration from Howl's Moving Castle,
07:51a favorite film of one of her daughters.
07:53The results were impressive, but hardly convenient.
07:56Heidi later recalled Seal struggling to see while driving,
07:59and admitted that the beaks made talking and drinking difficult.
08:03At least nobody could accuse them of winging it.
08:06Number 17. Heidi and Seal Go Ape
08:09Heidi Klum's second Halloween costume of 2011 came with an unexpected perk,
08:14comfortable shoes.
08:15She and her then-husband Seal turned up at her New York bash in matching ape outfits,
08:20covered in dark fur and detailed facial prosthetics.
08:23Heidi's disguise also featured false teeth and prosthetic breasts,
08:27with makeup taking almost six hours to apply.
08:30She revealed that her inspiration began with a fabric she loved,
08:34and she had been planning the look since that July.
08:37After all that preparation,
08:38she was especially pleased she could skip wearing high heels for once.
08:42Number 16. Robo Klum
08:45Just when you were starting to think Heidi Klum had reached the summit of Halloween costume mountain,
08:50she trots out in this not-so-little number.
08:53In 2010, Klum decided to go futuristic,
08:57donning a red and purple robot costume that appears to be a cross between characters
09:00from the Transformers and Power Ranger franchises, respectively.
09:04The costume, which featured a whole lot of latex and some seriously lifelike makeup,
09:09required Klum to use stilts, pushing her height to an eye-popping 8 feet.
09:14We honestly feel sorry for anyone who attended this party,
09:17thinking they would one-up the master.
09:19Bow down, people.
09:21Number 15. A Human Cadaver
09:23Okay, seriously, stop.
09:26For her 12th annual Halloween party,
09:28Heidi Klum once again blew minds with an out-of-this-world costume.
09:32The gut-up required Klum to don an anatomically correct,
09:36hand-painted bodysuit, designed by Martin Izquierdo.
09:39In a sit-down with People magazine, Klum said,
09:42quote,
09:42It's kind of like a dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off.
09:46It's basically like me naked.
09:48And with every vein and muscle on display for the world to see,
09:52she's definitely not wrong.
09:53The outfit also required Klum to wear specially designed prosthetic teeth,
09:58and she arrived on a gurney towed by a couple of blood-soaked surgeons.
10:01Is it just us, or do you get the feeling that Klum's Halloween budget
10:04is more than most people's mortgages?
10:07Number 14. Cleopatra
10:09In the wake of Hurricane Sandy,
10:12which wreaked havoc on the United States' East Coast in 2012,
10:15Heidi Klum was forced to postpone her annual Halloween party.
10:18While she initially released a few photos of her planned Cleopatra costume,
10:23which were unsurprisingly gorgeous,
10:25Klum decided that that wasn't enough
10:27and rescheduled her party for December 1st.
10:30There she unveiled an even better Cleopatra costume.
10:33Klum collaborated with makeup artist Bill Corso
10:36to add hundreds of crystals to her face,
10:39creating a truly dazzling effect that,
10:41when combined with the rest of her costume,
10:43had all the heads on the red carpet spinning.
10:47Number 13. Butterfly
10:48In 2014, Heidi Klum achieved something we could have never predicted,
10:53metamorphosis.
10:54The former Victoria's Secret angel transformed into a butterfly
10:58for her 15th annual Halloween party,
11:00which was held at Tau downtown,
11:02a trendy Manhattan club just minutes from Times Square.
11:06Klum took advantage of the proximity
11:08to the quote-on-quote center of the universe,
11:10stopping to snap a few pics in her costume
11:13before heading to the party.
11:14Between the bulging eyes and colorful bodysuit,
11:17we feel confident claiming Klum's costume
11:19was the talk of the party.
11:20We just have one question.
11:21How did she fit through the front door with those wings?
11:25Number 12. Heidi's Clone Army
11:27By 2016, Klum had found a way to multiply her Halloween magic,
11:32bring five more Heidi's.
11:34At her 17th annual party in New York,
11:37she arrived with five lookalikes,
11:39all sporting matching bodysuits,
11:41thigh-high boots,
11:42and bleach blonde waves.
11:43Special effects artists Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine
11:47helped give the women convincing facial prosthetics,
11:50while Heidi herself needed comparatively little preparation.
11:54The six women emerged from a giant crate
11:56stamped Made in Germany.
11:57Heidi explained that the idea came from
11:59wishing she could clone herself
12:01to manage her packed schedule.
12:03Talk about delegating in style.
12:06Number 11. The Cyborg Alien
12:08Heidi turned her elaborate Halloween preparation
12:11into a public spectacle in 2019.
12:14She reportedly spent over 12 hours
12:16transforming inside the window
12:17of a Manhattan Amazon bookstore,
12:20giving passersby a front row seat.
12:22The final costume was an unsettling
12:24science fiction creation featuring exposed organs,
12:28a visible brain, and a bionic spine,
12:30courtesy of Mike Marino's special effects team.
12:33Her husband, Tom Cowlitz,
12:35appeared as an injured astronaut,
12:37who, according to their invented backstory,
12:40had discovered the creature in space
12:41and brought her to Earth.
12:43Their commitment even extended to arriving
12:45in a biohazard-marked vehicle.
12:47Number 10. Betty Boop
12:49In an example of one sex symbol informing another,
12:52Heidi Klum decided to dress up as Betty Boop
12:55for this early 2000s Halloween costume.
12:58For those who may not be aware,
12:59Betty Boop is an animated character from the 1930s,
13:02typically appearing as a jazz-age flapper girl
13:05who took on sex symbol status
13:07thanks to her buxom figure and sultry personality.
13:10Klum added an extra layer of sexiness
13:12to her portrayal of Betty Boop
13:14when she donned the costume
13:15at the Dolce & Gabbana's Halloween party back in 2002.
13:19From the dress to the curls
13:20and everything in between,
13:22Klum knocked this one out of the park.
13:24Number 9. Lady Godiva
13:26Forget arriving in a limousine,
13:28Heidi showed up on horseback
13:30for her second Halloween party in 2001.
13:32At New York's Lot 61,
13:34she recreated Lady Godiva
13:36with an extraordinarily long blonde wig
13:38and a white bodysuit
13:40sparkling with silver embellishments.
13:42Designer Mike Bauer created the outfit,
13:45while fake blood at her mouth
13:46supplied a suitably spooky twist.
13:48The horse was actually loaned
13:50by the New York City Police Department,
13:52and Heidi later admitted she felt scared riding it.
13:55Her then-husband, Rick Pepino,
13:57joined the fun as a knight in shining armor.
14:00Quite the entrance.
14:02Number 8. Old Lady Klum
14:04We cannot begin to express
14:06how much we love this costume.
14:07In 2013, Heidi Klum gave us a glimpse
14:10into the future, sort of.
14:12The former Sports Illustrated cover girl
14:14showed up to her annual Halloween bash,
14:16dressed like a senior citizen,
14:19complete with gray hair, wrinkles,
14:20varicose veins, and a cane.
14:23Of course, in true Heidi Klum fashion,
14:25the costume was insanely lifelike,
14:27and would have no doubt fooled anyone
14:29who didn't already know it was her
14:31underneath all that makeup.
14:33Is it just us,
14:33or does Klum still look incredible?
14:35Some people have all the luck.
14:38Number 7. The Werewolf
14:39from Michael Jackson's Thriller
14:41Now this is how you make an entrance.
14:43For her 18th annual Halloween party,
14:46Heidi Klum enlisted the help
14:48of a group of friends
14:49to pull off one of the craziest
14:50red carpet appearances in recent memory.
14:53The group recreated the music video
14:54from Michael Jackson's iconic 1982 song Thriller,
14:58with Klum donning a werewolf costume
15:00similar to the one the King of Pop wore
15:02in the original video.
15:03Surrounded by a horde of the undead
15:05and dancing their way through the streets of NYC,
15:08Klum once again managed to take the art
15:10of dressing up for Halloween
15:11to a whole nother level.
15:13Number 6. Jessica Rabbit
15:15You know your costume game is on point
15:18when you're literally unrecognizable.
15:20In 2015, Klum decided to tackle
15:22yet another animated sex symbol,
15:24the incomparable Jessica Rabbit
15:26from the classic 1988 flick
15:28Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
15:30Thanks to a series of prosthetic enhancements,
15:32Klum was able to replicate
15:33the character's wildly unrealistic figure.
15:36From the voluptuous bosom
15:38to the puffy red lips,
15:39Klum completed the look
15:40with a pair of purple opera gloves
15:42and matching eyeshadow,
15:44a brilliant red wig,
15:45and Jessica Rabbit's trademark red dress,
15:47with a slit that just keeps on going.
15:49We'd say Klum nailed the character's
15:52curvaceous figure and larger-than-life persona.
15:54Number 5. The Peacock
15:57Heidi took the idea of a group costume
15:59to a new level in 2023.
16:02Working with Cirque du Soleil,
16:03she enlisted 10 acrobats
16:05to form her feathered display
16:06on the orange carpet.
16:08Heidi wore a blue velvet bodysuit
16:10and a prosthetic bird head
16:11by makeup artist Bill Corso,
16:13undergoing a six-hour transformation.
16:16Behind the scenes,
16:17the project required nearly
16:182,000 hours of costume work
16:21and more than 20 hours of rehearsals.
16:24Husband Tom Cowlitz
16:25joined the fun dressed as an egg.
16:27This wasn't dressing up.
16:29It was a full-blown production.
16:31Number 4.
16:32E.T. Double Trouble
16:34Heidi phoned home in spectacular fashion
16:36for her 2024 Halloween party.
16:39Inspired by a childhood favorite,
16:41she and husband Tom Cowlitz
16:43appeared as matching versions of E.T.
16:45from Steven Spielberg's 1982 film
16:47E.T. The Extraterrestrial.
16:50Tom played the familiar bare-headed alien
16:52while Heidi wore a long blonde wig,
16:54bowler hat, and scarf,
16:56recalling the movie's dress-up scene.
16:58Makeup artist Mike Marino
17:00led 30 specialists who spent a year
17:02perfecting their elaborate prosthetics
17:04and remote-controlled heads.
17:06The pair needed seven hours each
17:07just to get dressed.
17:09Apparently, bringing one extraterrestrial
17:11to life simply wasn't enough.
17:13Number 3.
17:14Medusa
17:15Greek mythology got the full Heidi Klum treatment
17:18at her 2025 Halloween party.
17:20At New York's Hard Rock Hotel,
17:22she appeared with green scales,
17:24a snake tail,
17:25and mechanical serpents
17:26that moved independently on her head.
17:28Special effects artist Mike Marino
17:31and more than 15 collaborators
17:33spent many months developing the costume.
17:35Getting into character took around 10 hours,
17:38right down to a custom split tongue.
17:40Husband Tom Cowlitz played a warrior
17:43turned to stone,
17:44complete with sword and shield.
17:46Heidi even made sure she could dance
17:48in the finished outfit.
17:49Number 2.
17:51Fiona from Shrek
17:52The thing that separates Heidi Klum
17:54from her peers when it comes to Halloween
17:56is simple.
17:56She commits.
17:57This was never more on display than in 2018
18:00when she and boyfriend Tom Cowlitz
18:03dressed up as everyone's favorite cinematic ogres,
18:06Fiona and Shrek.
18:07The duo arrived in an onion carriage
18:09and brought a trio of ogre babies along for the ride.
18:12Forget playing dress up.
18:14This costume appears to have been ripped
18:15right off the silver screen,
18:17with Klum's facial prosthetics
18:19appearing to be the result of hours
18:20in the makeup chair.
18:22We'd say good luck topping this one,
18:23but by now,
18:24we know better than to doubt Heidi Klum
18:26when it comes to her Halloween outfits.

18:55Number one, the giant earthworm.
18:57A red carpet is an unlikely place for bait,
19:00unless Heidi's involved.
19:02Returning to her party in 2022
19:04after a two-year break,
19:05she appeared as an enormous earthworm,
19:08courtesy of makeup artist Mike Marino
19:10and his team.
19:11The prosthetic suit pinned her arms against her body
19:14and made moving around a struggle.
19:16Husband Tom Cowlitz joined her as a fisherman,
19:19holding a fishing rod attached to his unusual catch.
19:22Roughly 12 hours of preparation went into the costume
19:25and Heidi admitted that it felt claustrophobic.
19:28She eventually wriggled free
19:29and switched to a sparkling bodysuit for dancing.
19:33If you could borrow Heidi Klum's glam team for one night,
19:36what would you transform into?
