00:06Charles Leclerc is banking that his home race, Monaco, an outlier, can break his and Ferrari's winning drought that dates
00:13back to 2024, with his last coming at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
00:19It's been a long time between victories for the Rapid Monogasc, with the longest post-debut being between the 2019
00:27Italian Grand Prix at Monza and 2022 Bahrain, with another drought following his three that year until 2024, his redemption
00:36on home soil.
00:39That win, when Leclerc became the first Monogasc since Louis Chiron, 93 years prior, came after a series of botched
00:47attempts.
00:492021 saw Leclerc fail to start from pole position due to a driveshaft issue, but he came back in 2022
00:56ready to try again.
00:59It's the streets that I've been taking to go to school every morning by bus when I was a child,
01:03so yeah, it has a lot of history in general for Formula One, but also for me it's a very
01:08special track.
01:10And the Monogasc knew the intensity of the lap well.
01:15The challenge for a Formula One driver to drive around here with no room for mistake is something that we,
01:21I think, all appreciate as drivers.
01:23But Leclerc lost out on 2022's win despite another pole, after his Ferrari team waited two laps too long to
01:31switch him to Winters, handing the win to Sergio Perez, then with Red Bull.
01:36Red Bull and Max Verstappen proved unstoppable in 2023, with the Dutch heroes' win in Monaco his second of a
01:43record 10 race winning streak, going on to 19 overall that year and 21 of 22 for Red Bull.
01:50But Leclerc finally broke through on his sixth attempt in 2024.
01:55The Ferrari pilot had legs on McLaren's Oscar Piastri, with the 16 finishes all managing tyres across 78 laps.
02:03Leclerc's then-Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz completed the podium in third.
02:09Lando Norris won in 2025, but this year could again be Leclerc's, if he can get over Canada, his self
02:16-proclaimed worst ever weekend in F1.
