00:00Can a team be truly explosive in the current NFL and not major in under center?
00:06Or is that something you have to have as a major part of your game?
00:09I think, you know, if you're going to be a gun team, you're going to get certain defenses.
00:16And teams inherently are going to be more worried about the pass against us
00:21and try to take that away because that's what we're great at.
00:25And teams know what we like to do and that we're really good at it.
00:30So, you know, trying to find ways to be explosive in the run game
00:35and then try to find some things off of that that can get us a couple easy explosives.
00:39And, you know, we're committed to that.
00:41Our coaching staff has done a great job this offseason of putting a plan together to try to execute that.
00:48So I'm excited to see how it works out.
00:50But I'm always ready to drop back 65 times and make it work, too.
00:56But, I mean, what is it about that?
00:59Obviously, it's your specialty and you guys have Jamar and T, like, obviously.
01:02But, like, what is it about that that why you guys feel like it's just always been where you guys
01:07have leaned
01:08to just doing that rather than sprinkling in more of the under centers?
01:12It's what's been effective.
01:14You know, we were heavy under center in 2020, 2021, and that worked out well for us.
01:22But then we were so explosive that we stopped getting the defenses that the under center runs
01:29and the under center play actions were built for.
01:33And then we weren't explosive in the run game when we faced those light box defenses.
01:39So, you know, then we transitioned to a gun team.
01:45And, you know, our run game became our RPOs and our quick game, basically.
01:49And the run game was kind of icing on the cake because of that.
01:54And that was effective for a couple years.
01:58And then around 2024, you know, we got so good at just picking people apart underneath
02:07and marching the ball down the field that we started getting some more of the 2021 defenses.
02:15And so now we have to get back to making people pay for playing that way against us.
02:22And that will, in turn, then create that cycle again where we're explosive
02:29and then teams play a certain kind of defense.
02:31And then we'll be better equipped this time to be explosive in the run game
02:37to try to take advantage of that.
02:38Is it hard to look at trends around the league because you guys are so different than almost all teams?
02:43Like, to say, yeah, well, teams are doing it this way, but, yeah, they don't have what we have.
02:46Does that make it hard to kind of pick from what other teams are having success with?
02:49Well, it's certainly, you know, when you watch tape throughout the season, it's, yeah, defense played this team this way.
02:56But, you know, typically there's a trend of how teams play us compared to other teams.
03:03And, you know, always go into a game take.
03:07I always take the film study that week with a grain of salt
03:11because we can get so many different things in so many different situations
03:16because of the guys that we have on the outside and how effective they are.
03:22You always have to be ready for certain things that teams have never shown before.
