00:00Did you know that the Hulk series from the 1970s is the only adaptation in which two different
00:04actors portray the character, Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk?
00:08Without digital effects, everything was done practically, makeup, contact lenses,
00:12body paint, and lots of muscle. Like any production, it also had its mistakes,
00:15such as that scene where a green slipper appears. Ferrigno was actually a professional
00:19bodybuilder and even competed with none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Mr. Olympia.
00:23Another curious detail is that the character's name was changed from Bruce Banner to David
00:26Banner. The series was so successful that it became a benchmark for decades, even with the
00:30Hulk appearing for only about 15 minutes per episode. The series had five seasons and 82
00:34episodes, airing between 1978 and 1982. It all began with two pilot films in 1977.
00:40After the series ended, three more television films were released.
