00:00So, obviously, these guilty convictions highlight the fact that we will pursue individuals that carry out attacks in the UK.
00:12We've seen these individuals that have taken online taskings to commit arson,
00:19and we will ensure that we will fully investigate that, identify those individuals and arrest them at the earliest opportunity.
00:26The Old Bailey heard how the attacks in the middle of the night posed a serious threat to life.
00:3322-year-old Ukrainian Roman Lavrinovich and 27-year-old Romanian Stanislav Karpuc were found guilty of plotting to damage
00:42property after a jury deliberated for seven and a half hours.
00:47An anonymous Russian speaker had offered Lavrinovich £3,000 in cryptocurrency if the blazes were filmed and got on the
00:55news.
00:56A Financial Times investigation has identified a Russian online sabotage network as allegedly being behind the attacks.
01:04But a counter-terrorism policing spokesperson said it had found no evidence leading to any specific person, group or organisation.
01:13So, as you say, these attacks were targeting the properties and vehicle that had been linked to the Prime Minister.
01:22Albeit, we don't know where these taskings came from, and we've got nothing to indicate that it came from a
01:30state threat.
01:30Obviously, it was intended to cause concern, disruption and impact on individuals and the community within the UK.
01:39I think the intention of the defendants was clearly to take payment and to carry out a crime for money.
01:49There was no ideological motivation around that, and there's no evidence to suggest that they knew who they were targeting
01:57and that that was the Prime Minister or properties linked to the Prime Minister.
02:00However, clearly, the intention from the online tasker was to create fear, both for the victim and the Prime Minister,
02:10and cause uncertainty and unrest for the UK.
02:15So, thankfully, although the individuals targeted addresses, as you say, with individuals within the addresses,
02:21they were completely reckless to the fact that they put individuals' peoples at life.
02:27Thankfully, no-one came to harm as a result of these arson attacks.
02:33It could have been significantly worse.
02:35And, as I say, those individuals that carried out these attacks were completely reckless as to what harm they could
02:41have caused.
02:42Absolutely, it was a significant risk, and as I say, those individuals that carried out those attacks were completely reckless,
02:47did not foresee those circumstances and the risk that they could put to individuals' lives within those properties.
02:53Thank goodness, due to the quick response of the LFB and working together with the police, that no-one did
02:59come to harm.
