00:00I've actually apologized for the issue with Danny and what happened.
00:05That was between a rock and a hard place for me.
00:07I could have just been quiet and let them handle it, but hindsight is 20-20 for all
00:12of us.
00:13It just so happens that a lot of the things that are 20-20 for me happened in front of
00:18the world.
00:19Tyra Banks is done apologizing.
00:21Now she's suing.
00:23The supermodel is taking Netflix to court for defamation, according to new documents
00:28obtained by People magazine.
00:29Banks is accusing the streaming giant of manipulating her into joining Reality Check, inside America's
00:35Next Top Model.
00:36Banks filed the lawsuit and called the entire series defamatory.
00:40She claims her interview was edited in a way to support a false narrative.
00:44The suit says Banks only participated because she wanted to have a candid conversation about
00:49the show's legacy.
00:50But her lawyers say Netflix fell short of making the documentary they promised.
00:54Banks says she took accountability for several moments from the show's checkered
00:58past, but it was left on the cutting room floor.
01:00She says she participated so fans could hear from her directly.
01:04The docu-series brought to light some disturbing moments from the reality show franchise.
01:08It includes an interview with Cycle 2 contestant Shandy Sullivan, whose sexual assault was featured
01:13on the show.
01:14Sullivan accuses production of allowing the assault to happen and filming it for the show, while
01:19she was visibly intoxicated.
01:21To make matters worse, the show decided to frame her assault as a cheating scandal.
01:25Producers even named the episode, The Girl Who Cheated, and made her call her boyfriend
01:30on camera.
01:32Banks is fighting claims that she was complicit in the airing of Sullivan's assault.
01:36She says she had no involvement in production or storylines, and was unaware Shandy classified
01:41what happened as sexual assault.
01:43Her lawyers are accusing editors of cutting down her three-and-a-half-hour interview and using
01:48a total of 16 minutes.
01:50The series interviewed Banks, along with other former America's Next Top Model producers and
01:54judges.
01:55Banks is also hitting back at claims that she didn't visit longtime friend and fellow top
01:59model judge, Miss J, after a stroke.
02:02Banks' suit says producers deprive viewers of the truth by withholding what others said
02:07in their Netflix confessionals.
02:09She said she was not given the chance to respond.
02:11Former contestants are reacting to the lawsuit filing, including Cycle 1 winner Adrienne Curry.
02:16Curry laughed at the fact that Banks, the creator of the heavily edited and manipulated
02:21reality show, is suing over her edit.
