00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the characters we're hoping
00:12to see in James Gunn's new DC Universe.
00:14For this list, we'll only be including characters that have yet to be officially announced,
00:19so don't expect to see characters like Batman or Wonder Woman.
00:22Also, some spoilers for James Gunn's Superman, but if you're watching this video, you've
00:27probably seen it already.
00:3510 β Green Arrow
00:43After spending years as the flagship hero for DC's Arrowverse, it's time for this
00:48ball-wielding vigilante to join the big leagues.
00:51Oliver Queen was once an arrogant billionaire, but after being stranded on a deserted island,
00:55he became a master marksman and vowed to protect those in need.
00:59Every day I built up my strength, tested my limits, and kept on going.
01:06Green Arrow might not have the flashiest powers, but he does have an arsenal of extremely strange
01:12unique trick arrows for any situation which might arise.
01:21He also brings a unique perspective to the Justice League with a sarcastic sense of humor
01:25and strong world compass.
01:27While we'd love to see Green Arrow as part of a larger team, it would be especially great
01:31to see him working with one heroine in particular, but more on that in a bit.
01:35You will fight again.
01:38Of course he will, just not here.
01:419 β Bizarro
01:58After Ultraman was sucked into a black hole at the end of Superman, many fans have wondered
02:02if it might have been setting up another evil Superman clone down the line.
02:06Bizarro Superman is a twisted zombie-like doppelganger of Superman who speaks in opposites and has
02:11inverted versions of his powers.
02:13The character has been a straightforward villain at times, but he's also been portrayed as
02:17more of a misunderstood monster who tries to do good, but has backwards ideas of right
02:23and wrong.
02:23Me am hero, me show you.
02:43That's coming out of your pay.
02:45Bizarro would be a perfect foil for this universe's more upbeat and cheerful Superman, and it would
02:50be a blast to see David Cornsweat play the character's polar opposite.
02:55You will.
02:57Squad.
02:58I'm not going to let you kill anyone else.
03:06Number 8 β Black Canary
03:08You got room for one more?
03:15I don't need your help.
03:17I got this.
03:19You got this?
03:20You sure about that?
03:21Even though we've had a number of recent Black Canary adaptations in both the DCEU and the
03:26Arrowverse, it would still be great to see her pop up in the new DCU.
03:30Dinah-Laura Lance is a top-notch martial artist with a supersonic screen.
03:34She's also the daughter of the original Golden Age Black Canary, which could tie into this
03:38new universe's history of established heroes.
03:49Over the years, Black Canary has been a member of the Justice League and the Birds of Prey,
03:53but one of her most important bonds is her relationship with Green Arrow.
03:56The two have a long history as both a couple in a crime-fighting duel, and getting to see
04:01that dynamic brought to life would be a lot of fun.
04:04How about a wager?
04:05If I can get out of this hold, you help me.
04:10Deal.
04:17I'll drive.
04:18Number 7 β Deathstroke
04:32Ever since Deathstroke was set to appear as the villain in Ben Affleck's cancelled Batman
04:37film, fans have been eagerly awaiting a proper film adaptation of DC's Deadliest Assassin.
04:42Slade Wilson was a soldier who volunteered for an experimental procedure that enhanced
04:46his strength, cognition, and durability.
04:48He uses these abilities as a mercenary, which often pits himself against various heroes within
04:53the DC universe.
05:09Deathstroke has been a major antagonist for Batman and the Teen Titans, both of whom have DCU projects
05:15in the works already, so his chances of showing up seemed pretty high.
05:19Since he's one of the few characters in the DC universe with combat skills that rival Batman's
05:23own, a proper adaptation of this character would definitely give us some incredible action
05:32scenes.
05:33Number 6 β Zatanna
05:35And for my finale, I will make this terrible trio of terrifying Tanners vanish before your eyes.
05:56Number 6 β Zatanna
05:59After a handful of announced film projects that never materialize, it's time for DC's
06:04most iconic magician to get her time in the spotlight.
06:06Zatanna Zatara uses her persona as a famous stage magician to hide the fact that she's
06:12actually one of the most powerful magic users in the DC universe.
06:31Zatanna has a really fun set of powers that blend the aesthetic of stage magic with a unique
06:36style of spellcasting, where all of her incarnations are spoken in reverse.
06:40Adding Zatanna to the mix would be a great way to expand the magical side of the new DCU,
06:45and she's had a number of fantastic comic book runs over the years that would make for great
06:49adaptations.
07:00Zatanna
07:02Number 5 β Martian Manhunter
07:04In other newsβ¦
07:06Well, I don't know Groucho, that's not really what I meant.
07:09We keep our farm animals in the farm, not in the house, not in the bedroom certainly.
07:14John Jones is an extremely powerful alien shapeshifter who was accidentally stranded on Earth by a
07:20scientist attempting to contact Mars.
07:22Eventually, he created a secret identity as a police detective and used his powers to
07:26help solve crimes before joining the Justice League.
07:28Martian Manhunter has a wide range of abilities including shapeshifting, telepathy, and enhanced
07:33Martian vision.
07:45Even though the character is a staple of the Justice League and one of its founding members,
07:49he's still not as well known thanks to the lack of film representation.
07:52A version of the character in the new DCU could fix that and introduce this iconic alien hero to a
07:58whole new audience.
08:10Don't do this!
08:15Number 4 β Etrigan the Demon
08:18And you.
08:20You also.
08:22Etrigan is a powerful demon trapped in the body of Jason Blood, who transforms into his demonic
08:27counterpart by reciting a poem.
08:29The two are often at odds, but have learned to co-exist after centuries of immortality.
08:34While Etrigan is in control, he has super strength and durability, as well as a number of demonic
08:39spells and abilities.
08:40Also, Etrigan only speaks in rhymes, which isn't exactly a super power, but it is a very fun quirk.
08:57The character is a perfect mix of scary and silly, and can work as either a hero or an anti
09:03-hero.
09:03And since the first chapter of the DCU has been dubbed Gods and Monsters, it would be awesome for
09:08one of DC's most iconic monsters to make an appearance.
09:14Etrigan.
09:15You were told you know not what to face, yet only you can stop it, so leave this place.
09:25Number 3 β Constantine
09:27Looks like you can't call my bet, Constantine.
09:30By my rules, you lose.
09:33I raise.
09:49DC's sleazy chain-smoking occultist has long been a fan favorite thanks to his sardonic sense of humor
09:55and complete lack of morals. John Constantine is an occult detective with a seemingly endless network
10:00of magic and paranormal contacts, as well as a history of messy romantic entanglements. While
10:04Constantine has already had a number of adaptations across film, TV, and animation, it would be great
10:10to see him feature as part of the larger DC universe.
10:12But you have died before though, right?
10:16So what's about to happen should feel a little, uh, familiar.
10:32The character would work perfectly as an introduction to the mystical side of the DCU,
10:37and since there's already a Swamp Thing movie in the works, it would be a perfect place for
10:41Constantine to show up since the two have a long history together.
10:44Close your eyes, and whatever happens, don't look.
10:512. Wally West
10:53Go! Get out of here! I'll handle Vandal!
10:56You'll handle me!
10:57After the last Flash movie failed to save the old DCEU, it might be a good idea for this new
11:03universe
11:04to give another speedster the spotlight. Wally West started out as Kid Flash,
11:08Barry Allen's sidekick and a member of the Teen Titans.
11:10Well, you're truly running circles around me. How will I cope?
11:20Not coping so great now, is he?
11:22When Barry sacrificed himself in Crisis on Infinite Earths,
11:25Wally took up the mantle and was DC's main Flash for over two decades.
11:30This led to Wally being many fans' favorite version of the character,
11:33despite various retcons and resets over the years.
11:36The new DCU could feature Wally as either the main Flash or still in his Kid Flash days,
11:41and focusing on the relationship between different generations of speedsters
11:44could help set this version apart from previous Flash incarnations.
11:48No, I meant this is it. You know, the day of the greatest upsetting speech in history goes down.
11:53Wally, man, this isn't about winning or losing, okay? This is about training,
11:58so you can get faster and beat Savitar and save Iris.
12:01Yeah, which I'm going to do.
12:03Okay.
12:04But first, I'm going to make you eat my dust. I'm sorry.
12:06Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
12:10Plastic Man. This flexible fan favorite is a perfect fit for James Gunn's appreciation for the bazaar.
12:16I can't believe I'm doing this.
12:32Mr. Mixpiddleit, an immortal being with reality warping abilities, this imp may be right under our noses.
12:38I can't even say your name forward. How am I supposed to say it backward?
12:42No, don't. You don't have to say it backward. You have to get me to say it.
12:49Say what?
12:50Kill Tipsy Zim. Gosh, you're thick. Now, for the last time. Ah, nuts.
12:57The Question. A mental passed down to a variety of heroes who deal in gritty detective drama.
13:03And now I don't want to be alone no more.
13:08Oops, I've done it. Told you how I feel. Just hope this time that our love is real.
13:16Mongo! Rivaling Superman, this alien warlord can't get enough of gladiatorial combat.
13:28Happy birthday, Kryptonian. I give you oblivion.

13:49Number 1. Nightwing
14:00As one of DC's most beloved heroes, it's crazy that we haven't already gotten to see Nightwing on the big
14:07screen.
14:07After spending years as Batman's first Robin, Dick Grayson evolved his mentor's mission when he set out on his own
14:13and became Nightwing.
14:14The character combines the smarts and combat skills of Batman with the hopefulness and compassion of Superman as he protects
14:21the city of Bloodhaven.
14:22You're sloppy.
14:23No, I'm uninterested.
14:25Get interested.
14:29With the new DCU seemingly setting up a larger Bat family, now is the perfect time to bring Nightwing into
14:35the fold and give him the adaptation he deserves.
14:38Bonus points if they include his relationship with Batgirl since the two are one of DC's best power couples.
14:43Doesn't anybody believe in redemption anymore?
14:46Why come to me?
14:48Who else would give me the chance?
14:50Certainly not your boss.
14:52He's not my boss.
14:54Of course not.
14:55You're your own man now, aren't you?
14:58Did we miss anybody?
14:59The DC canon is jam-packed with iconic heroes and villains, so be sure to shout out your favorites in
