00:01Wow look at this. It is so pretty. Aaron and I met in the fourth grade. We went to college
00:08together and then we got married three or four months after we graduated. We currently have
00:13four kiddos so we just go all in on everything. Yep there's your boat to Spanish Wells. All right.
00:20Best place to be. Thank you. Yes we're excited. Every time we travel we would talk about buying
00:26a house there. It was kind of our pipe dream and then we came to Spanish Wells and immediately
00:32fell in love. Yeah it's very private, very secluded, very romantic. Makes me feel like when we were
00:38first dating but buying a house in the Bahamas is a giant financial risk. But we both are big
00:44thrill seekers. We don't really hold each other back. If one of us has a crazy idea the other
00:50normally encourages it and then we end up doing crazy things like buying a house in the Bahamas.
01:16Welcome to Spanish Wells guys. Some islands like this you can't just fly to, you have to ferry in.
01:22Yeah I got the whip ready for you guys. All right. Even though the Bahamas is made up over 700
01:27islands
01:27in Keys, 20 of them are inhabited and at each island it has its own vibe and own flavor. And
01:34even
01:34Spanish Wells is tiny, two miles long and a half mile wide. This island has so much to offer.
01:41Yeah these houses are really really cool. This is what you would consider like a bohemian cottage,
01:46very historic. Yeah I feel like we're in like Cape Cod or somewhere like that. It's so funny that you
01:52said that I actually called Spanish Wells the Nantucket of the island. Yeah that makes sense.
01:58Spanish Wells is so magical. It's one of those islands you have to chase to get there. That's
02:02why the beaches are so quiet and so secluded. The water is so clear. It just goes from light blue
02:08to dark
02:08blue. You haven't even seen it yet. I'm gonna show you something so amazing it's gonna blow your socks off.
02:14Did you wear socks by the way? No socks. No socks. All right. You already did your job.
02:19We've invested in real estate for the last 15 years and so now we're leveraging some of the real
02:24estate we already own so that we can have the cash to buy the house here. It's a giant financial
02:29risk.
02:29But when Heather and I first got married it was just us. We got to spend all of our time
02:33together
02:33and now the busyness of owning our own businesses has kind of separated us. So I'm just excited to come
02:39to a place like Spanish Wells where I get to just spend more time with Heather and remember how
02:44amazing and incredible that she is. We're on the sandbar of Spanish Wells. What do you think?
02:50This is stunning. There's no one out here. You can just see forever. Yeah, you could maybe even skinny
02:58dip if you want to. It's up to you, right? This is the north part of Bilutra and then behind
03:04it would
03:04be the Devil's Backbone. During the 1600s a lot of boats crashed off of the Devil's Backbone. That's
03:10actually how this place got settled. This is so cool. I have to be on the beach, please.
03:17You can't put a price on this. Yeah, Aaron, you can't put a price on this. You could put a
03:21price on it.
03:23So what's your ideal property looking like for you guys? Three bedrooms, two bathrooms,
03:29something that's pretty open inside so that we have a lot of space to spread out and unwind. Yeah.
03:36I really want a big yard if possible. And are you guys okay with a fixer-upper maybe? If it's
03:42on the
03:42beach as well? I am. Yeah, I'm not afraid of a little hard work. No fixer-upper. No, it's got
03:50to be
03:50moving already. I don't want to tackle a project in the Bahamas. That seems difficult and expensive.
03:56I have faith in your abilities. Is the budget still the same? Yeah, we cannot go above 900. All right.

04:02so even if I came out on the beach, there's a lot of sand dollars out here. Maybe I pick
04:06up a few.
04:07Could that go towards the transaction? We wiggle up a little bit? I mean, come on. So we could do
04:11900,000 in one sand dollar. Okay, but I want to manage those expectations as well for both of you
04:17because not a lot of inventory is here on Spanish Wells. Inventory is very low. It's a lot of
04:23generational properties passed down from family to family. So I may have to go off market on hunting for
04:30properties for them.
04:42So I can't wait to show you this place. This delivers the full package. It's a three-bedroom,
04:48two-bath, and you got the beach right at your back door. Wow. What are we talking about price-wise?
04:55$950,000. Yeah, I don't know about that. Heather and I both own our own businesses. I own a travel
05:01agency,
05:02so travel is my life. You can already see the water. Exactly. And I own an insurance agency,
05:08and so risk is my life. And so I'm constantly thinking about the risks of everything. So this
05:15is in here on your left. This is what I was talking about.
05:26I mean, this is a paradise. Yeah. With the palm trees and the ocean and the sand right there,
05:32check out the inside and I'll be out here waiting for you. All right. Oh, look at this deck. I

05:37even need to see inside. I'm just being out here all the time. This is amazing. That is awesome. Oh,

05:46If I could pick the perfect backyard, this is 100%. The water looks like cotton candy. Yeah. I think we
05:54could spend a lot of time right here. Yeah. This is unbelievable. Yeah. You want to buy this,
06:00don't you? 100%. I don't even need to see inside. This is what I wanted this whole time. Yeah. If
06:07we're
06:07coming all the way here, we might as well get what we really want. Let's go see the inside and

06:12it is like what we want before we make our decision. All right. Heather had a crush on me for
06:17a long time.
06:18And when I finally did become interested, uh, she kind of changed her mind. He'd had his chance.
06:25First time I tried to kiss her, she rejected me and then tried to text her best friend, except
06:29she accidentally texted me and said, Erin tried to kiss me. And I said, yeah, I know. I was there.
06:38Sorry. Oh, wow. Wow.
06:41This is big. It's really big. It is dark. Like, depressingly dark. Look out there. You can have
06:50the perfect view of the beach from inside. And the ceilings are so high. It makes the space feel
06:54so big because the ceilings are high. For sure. You can maybe put like skylights in. That's gonna be
07:00expensive. I don't plan on spending much time in here. So let's go look around. Okay.
07:07This is nice. Oh, nice. There's definitely plenty of space. And this bed is nice. Yeah, for sure.
07:12And this has more windows, so it's a lot brighter in here. I actually like this bedroom. I really do.
07:17I do think probably we'd want to replace these shades here. You're gonna have to like this furniture
07:22or we're not gonna be able to make it work. I love this furniture. Okay. Good. Oh, wow. It's a
07:28huge
07:28bathroom. Yeah. The double vanity. I love that. Yeah. I don't want to share a sink with you. We
07:33need two sinks. Fair. And this is a jacuzzi tub. Yeah. This bedroom is a lot brighter than this living
07:40room. But then again, we walk in here and it's like night. It's just a little romance lighting. I mean,
07:46it can be romantic. If you're good with it. This is a great sized room. Yeah. I probably would have
07:54to change the wall color in here. But that is cheap. No, we're not changing. Nothing is cheap. You
07:59don't know how much anything is here. Oh, no, I do like this. I wouldn't change anything in here.

08:10Amazing property, huh? Yeah. Yeah. Good work. I loved it. Um, I mean,
08:15this view just does it for me, but I don't want to stress him out. The price. I think it's
08:21just too
08:21much. But I mean, real estate sometimes isn't all about the money, right? It's about that emotional
08:26connection. Heather. I love it. Aaron, sell a few stocks. I know you got that. I'm worried that Kyle
08:34is just going to show his houses outside of our price point. And that's going to be a waste of
08:37time
08:37for him and for us.
08:48Do you remember on our honeymoon taking the kayaks through the mangroves?
08:52I didn't think we were going to make it. When we come here and we can just disconnect and reconnect,
08:57um, I feel like it just reminds me of why I fell in love. Uncle Rob, you're going to show

09:03secret places, right? Oh, yes. I got a lot of good spots to show you guys. Getting to see this
09:08side of him that's not stressed or working all the time is really nice. It's going to feel like we're
09:15on
09:15vacation all the time. I mean, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen. These are green turtles. They're all
09:21over the bombers. And they're just always here? Well, they live in the bay. So when they're the
09:25sound of the boat engines, they say, oh, it's dinner time. So have you always lived in Spanish
09:30Wells? Yep. I wouldn't like to live nowhere else. My family came from England and they got in a bad
09:34storm and shipwrecked out in the famous devil's backbone in 1648. That's incredible. I can see why
09:40you guys have stayed here for generations. Yeah. It is beautiful. I'm trying to deliver for Aaron
09:54and Heather, but they have to understand that the choices are slim and the demand is high. So this
10:01house is a two bedroom, two bath, and it's right on the beach. What about the yard? The yard is
10:07huge.
10:07It leads right onto the beach. I love that. Tell me the price again. $850,000. Okay. I'm impressed
10:14you found one in our price range. It's moving ready, but you could possibly do some upgrades.
10:20So here we are, guys. Not so sure about this right now. Yeah. Yeah. You can't see a house. Yeah.
10:25No front door because the action is at the back.
10:35I love this yard. This is exactly what I was looking for. Wow. Yeah. You can see the water
10:40right here. Yeah. It's amazing. So is this a public beach? So the beach actually is public,
10:48but there's never anybody on it. Yeah. Legend has it. It's called lover's key. I think it's perfect.
10:56Good work, Kyle. I think you're pleasing Heather. This is unbelievable. It is so rare to find a
11:02basically private beach these days and to know that we could have a piece of that is mind-blowing.

11:15Wow. This is tiny. It's cute. This is really, really small. I mean like the kitchen in the living
11:24room in the dining room are all one. We can change it though. This kitchen probably needs a little bit
11:32of updating, probably replace the countertops. I don't even know how you do that in the Bahamas.
11:39We can both be stubborn. Neither one of us likes to admit if we're wrong. I'm rarely if ever wrong.
11:46But if I am, I don't really like to admit that I am. Yeah, I would say for sure that's
11:51probably our
11:52biggest, our biggest struggle. This reminds me of our first house and you redid that one. But we're
11:58also 21 years old and had a lot more time and we knew the area. We don't know like people
12:04to work
12:04here or I don't know. I think you could do it. It definitely has potential. What's in here?
12:11This is a nice bathroom. I would want to change some of these colors though. I don't know how I
12:16feel about the brown. This is definitely 50 shades of brown. Brown toilet, brown bathtub. That's
12:21interesting. Let's see what the rest of the house is like. Okay. Oh wow, so big. Yeah, this is great.
12:29The furniture is nice too. Yeah, test it out. Scoot over, make room for me. Yeah, this is nice. I

12:38this would work for us. Now this is a nice bathroom. This one has been updated. I like that. And
12:45then this
12:45bedroom is big too. Yeah, this is great. Plenty of space. Yeah, full beds, green beds. Four kiddos. So
12:51plenty of room. Kyle, great job. Cute house, right? I really like it. You can't beat this view. Yeah,
13:00for sure. Bedrooms were big. This outdoor space is unbelievable. I could put a grill there. I think
13:06I'd spend all my time out here. Yeah, this is going to be my future office. I mean, that's a
13:10good place to
13:10work. Yeah, I don't blame you. I am concerned a little bit about like some of the updates. Small
13:17changes turn into big changes, which turns into big money. You don't have to rush the process of
13:22doing any upgrades or any renovations right away. Take your time. I think I could be happy with a brown
13:27toilet if I had this view. I don't know. I don't know about that. So I am really torn on
13:34this house
13:34because I do love the yard. I love the view, but with the updates, I just don't know if we're
13:38going to
13:38be able to make it work. Could we maybe see something a little bit more move-in ready?
13:42This property is under the budget, right onto the beach. I don't know how we're going to deliver on
13:47these properties, but I have to manage expectations. The choices are slim and the demand is high.
14:02I'm starting to get my bearings on this place. Yeah, you're a pro. I think I could live here full
14:08time. This is like a postcard. Let's go make our own postcard. We've been all over the world,
14:18and the atmosphere here is so different than any place that we've ever been. I love you.
14:23I love you too. To be able to find a place like this that is not commercialized, to not have
14:30hotels
14:31right on the beach or lots of people, we just fell in love. You don't even need a car here.
14:38Everybody
14:38just drives golf carts around. The charm of the island really is incredible.
14:43Would you all guys like to try a conch salad? Absolutely. We have tomatoes, onions, orange,
14:49lime, and the conch is very healthy. You're all familiar with the conch pistol?
14:54Uh, no. They say it makes you better under the sheet. Sign me up.
14:59So I guess time will tell. We'll see.
15:10I truly want to give Heather and Aaron everything they're asking for, but I really don't think that
15:15exists. Keep telling them it's not a lot of options they could find. They have to compromise with each
15:20other. They may find themselves not even purchasing anything in Spanish Wells. So this property is a bit
15:25more practical. I think Aaron may fall in love with this one for sure.
15:29Yeah. What's the price? $750,000. I'm in love. So for $750,000, what are we not getting?
15:35The yard isn't as big as the other properties and you're not getting toes in the sand for sure.
15:41Does it have a view? No view. That's what you sacrifice at this price point, but it's a three
15:48bedroom, two bath, beautiful pastel colors. Yeah, this is definitely what I think about when I think of
15:53Bahamas. It's really cute. And then the property, manageable, pretty practical. I can't hear or see
16:01the ocean. With the money we're saving, we can just hang a nice picture of the beach inside the house.
16:05That's a terrible comeback. Listen, we are just a short walk from the beach. Less than a minute here.
16:13Take a look inside. I'll wait out here for you guys. Oh wow. Oh wow. This is really updating. This
16:20is really nice. It's really big.
16:21I love these floors. These are great. Yeah. And the ceilings are really cute. Yeah. Great character. And this furniture

16:31Oh, this is a good size bedroom. Yeah, this really is. There's no door on the closet, which is a
16:37little strange. That's weird.
16:38There's a small closet as well. This could be your office. I could work here. Yeah. But that view. I
16:47would much rather look at a beach than a white wall. I mean, it's a beautiful white wall. There's nothing
16:50wrong with that.
16:52Yeah, right. I do agree. The view is very much lacking. I'm struggling with trying to make Heather happy and
16:59still be responsible for our family.
17:01That's a tough balancing act. There is a lot at stake making any purchase, but especially a purchase like this.

18:05I love that it's so open. Yeah. It opens up straight into the living room and the kitchen. I mean,
18:10we would not have to do a thing to this. That is true. It is move-in ready like you

18:15Wow. Oh, nice. This is a great patio. I'm not sure exactly how private it would be. It certainly
18:23doesn't have the beach view. But a fire pit. Look at this. Don't you think we'd spend time out here?

18:30you're just trying to distract me from the fact that there's no beach. Maybe a little bit. But you know,
18:35I love fire pits. Who needs a fire pit in the Bahamas? Do you think we can make this house

18:41I'm just really torn because I wanted to be on the beach. I know. But is this house close enough?

18:47we can literally walk there. It's really hard because I don't want to stress Erin out with the
18:53budget. But I do have my heart set on something. And so I'm torn.

19:19everyday life. Just hop outside, go feed the stingrays. Who needs a dog? Yeah, seriously. He's so cute.
19:31This is beautiful, isn't it? Yeah. It's amazing. I'm so excited to move here. Yeah. We just have to
19:36decide on which house. Yeah, we do. I think each three of those houses has something a little bit
19:42different. But it also, with every one of those houses, we sacrifice something a little bit
19:47different. I think we also have to go back and remember, like, the main reason why we're doing
19:52this. So, like, it's not the house specifically, right? It's that we want to be on this island,
19:59on Spanish Wells. And we want to experience this all the time. And also, like, we're getting back to
20:05where we spend a ton of time together. So, I don't think we can go wrong with whatever house we
20:12choose.
20:20Inventory is so limited on this island. It's a small island. There's not a lot of houses.
20:24A lot of the houses that we saw were out of our price range or needed a ton of work.
20:29And so,
20:29I feel very blessed and fortunate that we found this house and it ended up being perfect for us.
20:36I really wanted to be on the beach. But this island is so small,
20:40you're not far from a beach no matter where you are.
20:45So, buying a house in the Bahamas has brought our whole family closer together.
20:49Spending time outside at the beach. It's just been really great for our kids.

20:59Yeah, after you've been together for 20 years, this was just the thing that we needed
21:04to re-spark and recharge.
21:09That is good. It really has reconnected us, sparked our love life. Look at that.

21:19I told you. Life is just so much more fun and romantic.
