08:13Front tire.
08:14Got it.
08:14That's another tire.
08:16Okay, just smoke coming from that passenger front tire.
08:19He just lost that on the freeway.
08:21That's off in the pyrite exit.
08:23Going towards the exit.
08:25So remember, this turns into a street.
08:27We're on the right-hand side.
08:28Watch your backdrop with the freeway on the left.
08:31We've got this concrete barrier, so it's a good backdrop, but keep your shots low if needed.
08:38Over the bridge at pyrite, number one lane, about 50 miles per hour, and light traffic.
08:46So he's got rear left, rear passenger tires good, and it looks like the front driver's
08:53tire is about to grow.
08:54About 50 miles per hour moving into the number three lane now.
08:59Light traffic.
09:01This dude is a danger to all these poor people up here ahead.
09:05He's armed.

09:28Dave, myself, and, uh, Segura will stay on the left side.
09:33About, uh, 60 miles per hour.
09:35And, uh, very light traffic.
09:38And they got, uh, on the other side of the freeway shut down traffic.
09:42Dude, how much longer can that truck go on?
09:45It's the tires.
09:46It's a little more tire.
09:48It's not good enough size to it.
09:49Our main pursuit effort consists of about seven units plus canines and Bearcat.
09:55Got a few cars that entered the freeway at this on-ramp, but, uh, isn't that good?
10:00No traffic.
10:0160 westbound.
10:02Number two lane.
10:03About, uh, 50 miles per hour.
10:06If he falls into pit speed, we can pit him on this off-ramp if it's possible.
10:11It's like entering the 15 off-ramp.
10:14Uh, I'll advise north or south here in a second.
10:18He's going 15 south.
10:19All right.
10:2115 south.
10:22He's going to take it south now.

10:32Brake lights are on.
10:33It's falling down.
10:37He's about 10 miles per hour right now.
10:43Hitting him successful?
10:45No.
10:45He's still going.
10:46He's going on to the I-15 south here.
10:49About 35 miles per hour.
10:53Got a pit.
10:54Uh, 10 pit.
10:56Looks like he's all the way down to the carpool lane now.

11:19They're going to be passing on your can to approach the lemonade.
11:21His rims are disintegrated.
11:22It should tell me you're pretty sure.
11:24Hey, patrol.
11:24Black and White's.
11:25I need you guys to fall out.
11:27And, uh, we can block those exits off of six.
11:30And I just get isolated that way if he's down to the rim.
11:33So, we can block all that traffic entering the freeway.
11:35Our pool lane about, uh, 50 miles, 40 miles per hour now.
11:39Watch me, Fred.
11:40We got about 70 Black and White's in this thing.
11:42I want two waves.
11:43I want a primary pursuit package backed up by the second wave of ES units.
11:47I've got about seven or eight with me, and that's plenty right now.
11:50And then you guys just support us by running interference behind us.
11:53Only ES units authorized in the pursuit.

12:32Get ready to bail over that wall if he runs.
12:38Can we get a C-HP stop?
12:40The, uh, northbound traffic.

12:47It's a lot of night.
12:49I'm just, uh, hittin' over.
12:50The truck is still going south down there.
12:52So, speed's through the center divider.
12:55Movin' all the way over to the right-hand side.
12:58About 15 miles per hour.
13:05Clear the air.

16:08William McKay was found deceased.
16:10According to the autopsy report, he had a total of 12 gunshot wounds, including six shots
16:15to his head, another which penetrated his lungs, and a fatal shot to the neck which severed his
16:19spinal cord. A total of 79 rounds and shells were fired by officers. A search of his vehicle yielded
16:24a plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance, the firearm he used to murder
16:28Deputy Cordero, numerous credit cards he fraudulently used at various locations,
16:32and his membership card to a violent, white supremacist, outlaw, biker gang.
16:37McKay's lengthy criminal record began in 1999 when he pleaded guilty to assault with a firearm
16:42and spent three years in prison. In 2005, he was an accomplice to a burglary where he choked a man
16:48and smothered a woman before stealing $3,700. He pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and two
16:54counts of assault and sentenced to 13 years in prison. In 2021, McKay and an accomplice held a
16:59woman who had been house-sitting for McKay against her will. McKay alleged that she took part in
17:02burglarizing his home, but rather than alert police, he assaulted her and bound her and her mother with
17:07duct tape and threatened to kill them. The victim managed to escape and alert San Bernardino's
17:12sheriff's deputies, who pulled him over two days later in a stolen truck. He and his accomplice
17:16fled into the desert where they were surrounded, and his accomplice stabbed a police canine.
17:20McKay represented himself in court after his arrest and requested a bench trial, where a trial judge
17:25heard evidence and found him guilty of false imprisonment, evading a peace officer, making
17:29criminal threats likely to produce death, and receiving stolen property. According to court transcripts,
17:35the judge found him not guilty of kidnapping because the victim was not forcibly moved from where she
17:39was held. McKay's bail was reduced from $950,000 to $500,000 to remain in compliance with San Bernardino's
17:47bail schedule for a three-strikes case. Needing to only pay 10% of the bail and allowed to use
17:52property
17:52like a house or pickup truck, McKay made bail by promising property valued at $50,000. He was arrested
17:58on a new drug charge prior to his sentencing, where he made bail again, this time for $50,000. When
18:04McKay
18:04failed to appear to his sentencing hearing, a warrant was issued and his bail was forfeited. His warrant
18:09was still active when Deputy Cordero pulled him over for not having a rear license plate.
18:14Investigators interviewed an associate of McKay who told them that he did not want to go back to
18:18prison. One week after his murder, Deputy Cordero was laid to rest and a memorial service was conducted
18:23in his honor. Our son is gone. We hurt so much. My dearest Isaiah, you were taken too soon and
18:37die.
18:38We do not know how we are supposed to carry on without you. Deputy Isaiah Cordero, ID number 5662,
18:46end of watch December 29, 2022. Motor 38, Deputy Isaiah Cordero, rest in peace. We have it from here.
