00:01What would Socrates and Confucius have discussed if they'd had the opportunity?
00:06Such a dialogue belongs in the realm of the imagination,
00:09yet the approximately 200 academics and experts who met in Athens
00:13had the chance to focus on the wisdom that connects the classical lyra and Chinese philosophy.
00:21The Second World Conference of Classics took the theme
00:25dialogue between ancient and modern contemporary inspirations from classical wisdom.
00:30The ancients can provide us with questions and answers
00:34that aren't readily available in the modern world.
00:39Permanent questions, questions concerning what it means to be human,
00:43questions concerning human virtues and vices,
00:46questions that are not always addressed by us in the modern world,
00:51at least with the kind of penetration that we see in the ancients.
00:55The goal of the conference was not only to highlight the importance of ancient classical civilization,
01:01but to show how the past can act as a bridge to the present.
01:05Participants from 20 countries discussed how the study of the classical era
01:10can offer insights into contemporary issues such as justice and governance,
01:15technological transformation, conflict and peace.
01:18people will always forget the history of training.
01:22For example, the Bolognese War is a very terrible example.
01:26The Aden and Sibadda have fought for 25 years.
01:29The end of the last two wars were defeated.
01:31The entire Greek world has fallen from this time.
01:34We have seen many international protests.
01:36We can see a picture of the Bolognese War.
01:39We can see a picture of the Bolognese War.
01:40The global war, the global war, the global war, the global war,
01:42the global war, the global war.
01:42I think the history is always similar to each other.
01:44Because people are not changing.
01:46Alongside the conference, an exhibition titled
01:49Bringing Classics into the Modern World
01:51showcased classical texts, research publications,
01:55archaeological achievements, traditional Chinese art
01:58and interactive technology experiences.
02:01The Second World Conference of Classics also shed light
02:05on China's long-standing efforts to understand and reach out to Europe.
02:09About one or two centuries ago, when China first encountered
02:15the Western world, we only knew about its modern time.
02:21When we knew deeper about European wisdom,
02:25we found that classical Chinese and classical European ideas
02:30have quite something similar.
02:33And then we can communicate with each other on a new platform.
02:43The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,
02:48the Ministries of Education, Culture and Tourism,
02:51the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Academy of Athens.
