00:05:40So I think they're very open-minded with this event, and they're going to be very prepared to fight when

00:05:48little bit of heat, a little bit of wind.
00:05:50The bugs aren't going to bother them because they're going to be feeling the punches, the kicks in the knees
00:05:54much more than that.
00:05:55I think they're going to be just fine, and the environment is even for both of them.
00:05:58The main thing is we're going to get some fights.
00:06:02A lot of people have been wondering, you know, about the lightning and the thunder.

00:06:07The fights are going to be sensational, and look at where we are.
00:06:10This is insane.
00:06:12They let us in the White House.

00:06:17It really all week has been difficult to put into words what we've been able to experience and feel, and
00:06:23that, you know, chapter was moved forward again.
00:06:26Last night, we were at the Ellipse Across during an incredible fan fest and a picture-perfect evening, Michael, and
00:06:32it really hit us all when we got up and we experienced what it felt like and the setting because
00:06:38it's been real.
00:06:39This is being built for the last few weeks.
00:06:41We've been planning it for over a year.
00:06:42But to be on the ground and to have the competition upcoming and to see where we are and the
00:06:47American spirit that was on display with Lincoln the Bald Eagle and the Army Golden Knights and Zach Brown Band's
00:06:57capping it off.
00:06:58And, of course, our great athletes that are competing tonight at the ceremonial weigh-ins.
00:07:02How would you describe what you felt last night?
00:07:04Every night just gets better and better.
00:07:06The press conference gave me chills to be a part of the weigh-ins yesterday, to witness it firsthand, to
00:07:12feel the energy and the spirit and the patriotism and the whole show that was put on.
00:07:17It gave me goosebumps.
00:07:18It really did.
00:07:19And now to be sitting here in the White House with the fights starting very, very soon.
00:07:24What an incredible week.
00:07:26The atmosphere was unbelievable.
00:07:29As an American, I haven't felt that type of patriotism in my life.
00:07:34Everyone, everywhere you went, it was USA, USA.
00:07:37People just chanting America nonstop.
00:07:40It just felt really good.
00:07:42It made me super proud to be American.
00:07:43When that eagle flew over the top of us, man, you could shed a tear.
00:07:46This is the culminary of any athlete's life, to show up at the White House, much less to get to
00:07:51fight at the White House.
00:07:52So how special is it to be here?
00:07:55Unbelievable.
00:07:56And after such success at the Olympics earlier this year, the Winter Olympics, and the Kachuk brothers from the U
00:08:01.S. gold medal-winning hockey team in attendance,
00:08:04tonight as well, to celebrate the patriotic spirit that this event does bring.
00:08:08There are seven bouts.
00:08:09There's an American involved in all but one of them.
00:08:13There are eight total Americans on the card, beginning with Steve Garcia fighting out of New Mexico as he takes
00:08:18on Diego Lopez.
00:08:19Americans on both sides of the fight in two different bouts, Bo Nickel and Kyle Dacus, both out of Pennsylvania.
00:08:26Bo Nickel, a collegiate wrestler and a decorated one at Penn State.
00:08:29Kyle Dacus out of Philadelphia.
00:08:31Michael Chandler proudly brings old glory to the octagon every time he fights.
00:08:36He will do so again against Mauricio Hufi, Derek Lewis, and Josh Okut, the other all-American matchup.
00:08:41Sean O'Malley, the former champ, takes on Eamon Zahabi out of Montreal, Canada.
00:08:45And then we get to our title fights.
00:08:46We will dive deep on all of that as we continue our coverage.
00:08:50Let's start with this main event.
00:08:52And Justin Gaethje, the interim lightweight champion, taking on Ilya Toporia.
00:08:57Michael, Ilya Toporia is getting close to greatest of all-time status.
00:09:02He's undefeated at 17-0, and he's delivered legendary moments already.
00:09:05Well, if you ask him, he is the greatest fighter on planet Earth.
00:09:09And I'll be honest, when you watch him compete, it's easy to believe that.
00:09:12The man has knockout power.
00:09:14Incredible grappling.
00:09:15He's finished just a who's who of mixed martial arts.
00:09:19And, of course, tonight, looking to take out another heart-rising prospect.
00:09:22A guy that's actually the interim champion in Justin Gaethje, doing it at the White House.
00:09:27And if you ask Ilya Toporia, this is a mere formality.
00:09:30He truly believes he's going to blow right through him and knock him out in the very first round,
00:09:35if not in 15 seconds.
00:09:37Boxing started the race for martial arts to an extent.
00:09:40And now, if you watch, this sport's been around for 33 years, barely.
00:09:43And we're at the top of the game.
00:09:44And Ilya Toporia's boxing is amongst the best in the UFC.
00:09:48Not to mention, he can stop the takedown.
00:09:50He can take you down.
00:09:51He's got judo.
00:09:51He's got jiu-jitsu.
00:09:52That's what makes mixed martial arts difference, is you can also grapple.
00:09:57You can also wrestle.
00:09:58You don't just have to worry about keeping it on the feet.
00:10:00You can do it all.
00:10:01And Ilya Toporia exemplifies that.
00:10:03Yeah, man, it's really amazing to watch him fight.
00:10:06He's so cool, calm, and collected as he slowly breaks guys down.
00:10:09He gets inside the pocket.
00:10:11And every one of his punches could put them out.
00:10:13And then if you look back at his career, his first seven fights as a professional fighter,
00:10:18he had seven submissions in a row.
00:10:20So when you're looking for chinks in the armor, he's one of these guys that you look at,
00:10:23and it's like, I don't know if there's anything there.
00:10:25Ilya Toporia, 17-0, as I mentioned before.
00:10:27And it's the way he's done it against Hall of Fame-worthy opponents.
00:10:31Nobody's ever knocked out Max Holloway the way he did.
00:10:33Nobody's ever looked as great as he did against Alexander Volkanovsky to get the belt.
00:10:37And, of course, he moved up to the lightweight division last summer
00:10:39and dismantled Charles Oliveira to win the title inside of one round.
00:10:43But he's got a fierce challenge on the other side.
00:10:46Justin Gaethje is a fan favorite for a reason.
00:10:48They call him the highlight for a reason.
00:10:50And since he burst into the UFC back in 2017 with an incredible knockout win
00:10:56and his trademark backflip off of the fence on the side of the octagon,
00:11:00he has continued to deliver time after time.
00:11:03That includes getting the interim heavyweight title earlier this year
00:11:07against Patty the Batty Pemblett.
00:11:09Dominic, he was a big underdog in that fight, and he proved all the doubters wrong.
00:11:13Can he do it again tonight?
00:11:14Well, he didn't kick a lot in that fight, but in this fight, I think it would be something
00:11:17that would work really well for him to chop the legs of Ilya Toporia.
00:11:20And he's got the weapons to do it with over 281 late kicks.
00:11:23That's the third highest in the lightweight division.
00:11:25And look at the way he punches.
00:11:27He is the highlight for a reason.
00:11:28He creates blood.
00:11:29He creates guts.
00:11:29He gives you what you want as an entertainer.
00:11:31And at the same time, look at that high kick on the former champion, Dustin Poirier.
00:11:35These are the weapons you're going to see him use against Ilya Toporia,
00:11:39and it's what makes him special is he's got the opposite weapons of Toporia,
00:11:43and he can use them.
00:11:44Listen, because Toporia is so good, people are forgetting how good Gaethje is.
00:11:48This guy, every time he lands a punch, it could be night over.
00:11:51He fights very dirty.
00:11:53He gets inside the pocket.
00:11:54He's going to pull the head and look to clip shots, and his leg kicks.
00:11:57Toporia is a type of guy who is very heavy on his front leg.
00:12:00He comes forward.
00:12:01He's got that boxing style.
00:12:02We haven't seen a guy like Justin Gaethje attack those legs,
00:12:06and I think that's going to be one of the big X factors in this fight.
00:12:09Everybody's writing off Justin Gaethje, and I get it.
00:12:12He's older.
00:12:13He's coming towards the end of his career.
00:12:14He's won some.
00:12:15He's lost some.
00:12:16He's had a long, hard, arduous career, and it takes a toll on your body.
00:12:19But this is mixed martial arts, and we're at the White House,
00:12:22and he's the American in the main event.
00:12:24Let's go.
00:12:24I am telling you right now, if he pulls it off tonight,
00:12:27it will be one of the biggest upsets in all the mixed martial arts history,
00:12:30and to do it here in this location, it is something special.
00:12:34There's something in the air here tonight.
00:12:36I'm a Brit, and I can feel it.
00:12:38I'm telling you right now.
00:12:39I've got probably Ilya winning, but it wouldn't surprise me if Justin pulls it off.
00:12:43Well, the question has always been, will he ever use his collegiate wrestling skills?
00:12:47He was an All-American at Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado,
00:12:51but from the small town of Safford, Arizona,
00:12:53to the main event at the White House for Justin Gaethje as he challenges Ilya Topuria,
00:12:57we will unify the belts in the lightweight division tonight.
00:13:00It's one of two title fights.
00:13:02There's an interim heavyweight championship between one of the biggest superstars in the fight game.
00:13:06He is Alex Poetan Pereira.
00:13:08He's won a championship in two different divisions at middleweight and light heavyweight already in his career.
00:13:14He would be the first ever three-division champion in UFC history should he be able to turn back.
00:13:20Cyril Gaughn, oddsmakers have it as a true coin flip fight,
00:13:24and this fight intrigues many people more than any other we've seen maybe this year.
00:13:29Yeah, listen, he's done things that we haven't seen anybody else do.
00:13:32Going for three-division championships is unthinkable, and he has a real chance to do it.
00:13:37He took out the middleweight championship.
00:13:39He went to light heavyweight, took out the championship there, and now he's going to light heavyweight,
00:13:43and he has a real chance to knock out and finish Cyril Gaughn.
00:13:46He's only been in the UFC five years, and what he's been able to accomplish is crazy.
00:13:50Every single time you see that left hook come, it could be night over.
00:13:54Every single time you see him throw a leg kick, it could be game over.
00:13:58He just always comes forward, and he gets better and better as the fight goes on.
00:14:02And it's insane to think that he made his debut as a middleweight,
00:14:05and he weighed in yesterday at 251 pounds, heavier than Cyril Gaughn.
00:14:11If anyone can pull it off and do the unthinkable and become a three-weight division champion,
00:14:15it's Alex Pereira.
00:14:17It's kind of his destiny.
00:14:18If anyone's going to do it, it's him, but of course, Cyril Gaughn ain't going to be easy.
00:14:22He's better on the feet.
00:14:23He's quicker on the feet.
00:14:24He's used to taking these kind of shots.
00:14:26He's a natural heavyweight that's been a heavyweight his whole life.
00:14:29So I understand it being very easy even with the bookmakers.
00:14:33What makes this fight fun is on the analytics, the numbers are pretty close,
00:14:36except for the two extra finishes of Alex Pereira.
00:14:39At the same time, he really has the power to get this done,
00:14:42and if he can get three world titles in three different weight classes,
00:14:45to me, that makes him the obvious greatest of all time.
00:14:48Nobody's ever done that.
00:14:49And he's able to go up.
00:14:50Can he still create those finishes at this weight class moving up?
00:14:54Will he be more durable?
00:14:55Will he be less durable?
00:14:56There's a lot of questions when you move up this heavy that changes the fight.
00:15:00Will he be too slow?
00:15:01Will Cyril Gaughn be faster because he's more used to the weight class?
00:15:04There's so many intangibles.
00:15:05I can't wait to see it.

00:15:48He covers a lot of grounds, and he picks his shot.
00:15:51He's got a snappy jab, a good right hand.
00:15:53He can do it all.
00:15:54He really can.
00:15:55He's got a much bigger speed advantage against Alex Pereira.
00:15:59He's got more tools in the box.
00:16:00He's used to operating and moving at that speed as well at this weight.
00:16:05I think it's tough for Alex Pereira.
00:16:06I would also say there's no question that he's probably the most athletic heavyweight we've ever seen.
00:16:11The way he's able to move his feet, switch from orthodox to southpaw so fluidly,
00:16:15and be dangerous in both ways.
00:16:17The way he kicks out guys' knees, come to the body.
00:16:20You know, he's really diverse with his strikes, and he does get better as time goes on as well.
00:16:24Well, he's one of the most athletic big men we have ever seen inside the octagon,
00:16:28and Cyril Ghosn has a chance to get his hands on a one-of-a-kind belt.
