00:00I've been saying for a long time publicly now that under Modi's leadership, this has really been India's coming out
00:06party on the global stage.
00:09India now has a very strong strategic partnership with the United States, really in spite of Trump and what happened
00:16last summer with Trump trying to wreck the relationship.
00:19I mean, the relationship has demonstrated that it's quite resilient.
00:21A lot of it is premised on countering China, but a lot of it is also not premised on countering
00:27China and doing other things that mutually benefit both countries.
00:31And you also have to consider that India has been able to maintain a strong partnership with Russia as well.
00:38It has also reset relations with China after China encroached upon its border back in 2020.
00:44And the relationships that India has worldwide, especially throughout the global south, have been extremely productive and cordial.
00:56And also look at the EU.
00:58India and the EU recently signed the mother of all free trade agreements, as it was described, a free trade
01:06agreement with the entire EU and India, right?
01:08The largest free trade agreement that's ever been signed.
01:11And so I think that Modi's got to be given a lot of credit for everything we've seen.
01:16Now, that said, I have some serious concerns about democratic backsliding in India.
01:21And that, I think, is something that we're going to have to continue to be vigilant over in the coming
01:26months and years.
