Sir David Beckham, the first English player to win league titles in four countries, was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 12.

Rather than a traditional Hollywood red carpet, the ceremony featured a green soccer-themed pitch carpet to commemorate the occasion.

00:03For the Hollywood Walk of Bane, Mr. David Beckham!
00:13How about a kiss? Give her a kiss, David!
00:23I must admit that this is all rather surreal.
00:27I've experienced some amazing moments in my career,
00:30but to be here in Los Angeles receiving a star
00:33on the world-famous Walk of Fame is truly incredible.
00:37I've always been a dreamer, but I could never have imagined
00:40that an honour like this would come to a working-class English soccer player like me.
00:46Kids, I'm going to get emotional now.
00:49Kids, I hope you bring my grandchildren here one day
00:53and tell them about a boy who dreamed big.
00:57To make you all proud is my greatest achievement.
01:01I'm so grateful for you all.
01:03I love you and thank you so much for this honour, LA.
01:07It means the world to me.
01:08Thank you very much.
01:10Long before the trophies, the sold-out stadiums, the global fame, the recognition,
01:16there was a young boy with a dream and the determination and discipline
01:21to earn everything that followed.
01:25That's why this feels like such a fitting place for us to celebrate him.
01:31His is a Hollywood story.
01:34A boy who believed in something bigger than himself had to work for every opportunity he received
01:40and went on to influence his sport, shape culture around the world
01:45and create opportunities for generations who followed.
01:49And for all the records, achievements and recognition, the thing that has impressed me most
01:56is that success has never changed who he is.
02:00The same core values that got him there are the ones he lives by today.
02:05And through much of that extraordinary journey, Victoria has been by his side.
02:11I love you, Victoria!
02:16So naturally, I assumed I was coming here today to receive my star for my part in that iconic cult
02:24classic,
02:25Spice World the movie.
02:30But as it turns out, earning a star takes a little more than surviving the late 90s box office.
02:41It takes vision, determination and an extraordinary amount of hard work.
02:48So to see David's name become part of that story today is incredibly special.
02:55Like so many before him, David came to America with a dream.
03:01A dream to share his passion for the beautiful game with as many people as he could
03:07and help make football, sorry, soccer, one of this country's great sports.
03:14He believed that if he worked hard and dreamed big enough, anything was possible.
03:24Thank you, Victoria!
03:26Thanks, Victoria!
03:26Thank you!
