00:00The Royal Family have paid a huge role in our family over the years and we know how
00:29important our Royal Family is and you know it's the most important institution in the
00:34world and the most respected institution in the world so to be stood here today
00:38being honored as an East End boy you know and to have done what I've done and
00:43be able to work you know with the the charities I've worked with and played
00:48with the teams I've played with and the players that I've played with and the
00:51managers that I've played under and I also want to I want to thank the British
00:55people as well because you know with their support over the years it's been
01:00it's one of the reasons why I'm here today it's a very special moment and
01:04obviously to have Victoria here and my mum and dad and you know it's a very proud
01:09day for them you know I think people have talked about it for a number of years and
01:14I was always I always felt so lucky to have you know the honor that I already
01:18had with the OBE and I do feel you know very lucky to have that but obviously to
01:22be recognized now as a sir you know it's it's very special but there's there's
01:29not really relief it's just I couldn't be prouder because I I think people know
01:34how patriotic I am I think people know how much we I love my country I've always
01:39made that point I think someone just asked me a question about is it time to
01:43slow down and is there any more to do and actually no it's time to you know put a
01:48bit more in and and do a lot more because you know my work with the
01:52charities I work with unfortunately will will never end because you know we're
01:57trying to you know secure children's futures and and their safety around the
02:01world and unfortunately there's always a crisis and there's always something
02:05that's happening so my work with charities will will never end and with
02:10everything else you know there's I think there's a there's a
02:13responsibility that comes with you know being honored and becoming a sir but I've
02:18already I've already known that responsibility for a long time for for a
02:23number of years I think that when I became a professional footballer when I
02:26became England captain you know when I became a father when I became a husband
02:30you know the responsibilities change and they get bigger and I understand those
02:35responsibilities but you know today's is a moment to to kind of reflect and I
02:40very rarely reflect on on my past career and the things I've done but I think I will
02:46take today and and save at this moment because it's a very special moment
