00:00And some more breaking news coming in.
00:02This is regarding the 370 biryani controversy.
00:05Now what we're learning is that comedian Pranit Murray has issued an apology.
00:10He has posted a video on social media, on his social media, and he has apologized.
00:15And he has said that he got carried away and he has sought apology on the viral 370 rupees biryani
00:23video.
00:23So there was a huge controversy that erupted because when a video from his stand-up show went viral,
00:31in which a man named Himanshu Jagada had made that remark of 370 rupees biryani.
00:39That was a sexual remark that was made by Himanshu Jagada,
00:42which led to a huge controversy and a lot of outrage on the social media as well.
00:47And Pranit Murray had earlier deactivated his social media account after criticism and outrage on social media against him as
00:55well
00:55because he did not object to those remarks during his stand-up show.
01:01And now he has activated his account and he has also posted this video apologizing.
01:08And he has said that he got carried away during that show.
01:12So he has sought apology.
01:13He has posted this video on social media and he has said that he got carried away.
01:20So this comes, this apology comes days after the controversy erupted.
01:24There was a lot of backlash, a lot of criticism, a lot of people questioning where does one draw the
01:30line
01:31between comedy and between offensive comments, misogynistic remarks.
01:36And now comedian Pranit Murray has now issued an apology.
01:41He has posted this video seeking apology.
01:43He has said in this video that he got carried away during that stand-up show.
01:50So the controversy surrounding comedian Pranit Murray's viral stand-up video escalated.
01:55And now he has posted this video, this apology video,
01:59in which he has said that he got carried away during that show
02:03when those remarks were being made by Himanshu Jagada.
02:10So remember, it was not just one remark that was made by Himanshu Jagada that was problematic,
02:14that led to the controversy, but there were several remarks.
02:18In fact, the entire conversation, the entire show was problematic.
02:22It was, of course, the biryani remark that first went viral,
02:26but then a lot of clips from that same show went viral,
02:30which were equally and even more problematic than that remark.
02:34And after which there was a lot of backlash.
02:36And what people were objecting to is how Pranit Murray himself was enjoying the conversation.
02:42He was also becoming a part of that conversation.
02:45He was also provoking Himanshu Jagada to make further such remarks.
02:50And now he has issued, he has posted this video seeking apology on social media.
02:59My colleague Vidya is now joining us with more details on this.
03:03Vidya, Pranit Murray now finally posting this video, this apology, video seeking apology,
03:10and now finally accepting that mistake was on his part also.
03:14And he has said that he got carried away.
03:17Yes, in fact, this time he said that this was his biggest mistake, as he says in that video.
03:22And while seeking forgiveness, he seeks for another chance to be given.
03:28And of course, he says that, you know, he'll try to make himself a better person.
03:33So this is all a part of the entire apology that he has put out,
03:37a video wherein he stated that as to how his account had been, you know, blocked.
03:43But then later on, it was reinstated.
03:46And that's why he is now putting out this apology in public.
03:49Of course, although there are, you know, as we all know that there's an FIR that is registered in Delhi,
03:56in Gurgaon, as well as here in Mumbai by the cyber cell.
04:01And apart from that, as you know, that one of the persons who was present in that comic show
04:07was a medical student, Sejal Pawar, against whom action is also being taken by the KEM,
04:14where an inquiry report is expected in some time from now.
04:18All right, Vidya, do stay with us.
04:20Let's also listen in to the video that has been posted by the comedian Praneet Maude.
04:48I've heard a lot of things that have been posted by the comedian Praneet Maude,
04:51and I've heard a lot of things that have been posted by the comedian Praneet Maude.
04:54So I've also been carried away, and I've had a lapse in judgment.
04:58And I think this was a big mistake.
05:01I thought that I could stop him there, or stand, but I couldn't do it.
05:06And I've given him a platform that has been escalated by the people who have been hurt.
05:12So those who have been hurt, I want to forgive them all.
05:18Those who are legal proceedings are against me, I'm also going to cooperate with the authorities.
05:46And my colleague Vidya continues to stay with us.
05:49Vidya, in this apology video, Praneet Maude can be clearly hurt.
05:52I've heard putting the blame on Himanshu Jangra only,
05:55and he is just apologizing for not objecting to Himanshu Jangra's remark.
06:00But if we hear those clips, the entire stand-up clip of Himanshu Jangra and Praneet Maude,
06:07Praneet Maude is not just not objecting to the remarks,
06:10he is equally participating in that conversation.
06:13And in fact, he was also encouraging Himanshu Jangra to make more such remarks in that show.
06:21If you look at the format of the show, it does talk about, you know,
06:25it's not the first time that we have seen where, you know,
06:29there is encouragement given to participants to speak there, speak further.
06:33So this is exactly what has happened.
06:35And that's one of the reasons why the FIR is being registered by the Cyber Police of Maharashtra Police.
06:42And very clearly in that they have mentioned the sections under which it is, you know, they have registered.
06:49And of course, summons have been sent to all these people, including the girl, the medical student,
06:57and the stand-up comedians like them.
07:00But of course, you know, the legal course will take its action because we know that there are multiple cases
07:05that are registered.
07:06So these people will really have to go ahead and probably seek clubbing of these FIRs
07:12and then probably take legal action against each of them.
07:16But then as of now, yes, because the summons have been issued by the police.
07:21So there is, you know, a kind of legal threat that these people can feel right now probably.
07:27And that's one of the reasons why these apologies are really coming forward.
07:31Right.
07:31Vidya, and also this is the second time that he's apologizing.
07:35The previous apology was an Instagram story which he had posted.
07:39But the difference between the two apologies is that in the first apology,
07:42there were a lot of ifs and buts that were mentioned by Praneet Morae,
07:46which came just days after this controversy erupted.
07:48And today he's completely accepting his mistake in this case.
07:54Well, in fact, you know, because there are multiple FIRs that are registered,
07:59it's not easy for someone, you know, to really go ahead and face all these legal hurdles.
08:04And of course, you know, the kind of backlash that one can see,
08:08there is an online vilification that is really going on of all the people involved,
08:13not just Praneet, but also of other people.
08:16And it can really be seen that it probably would be putting a lot of pressure
08:21on the minds of all these people to, you know,
08:25and really want to get over it probably at the earliest.
08:28And that's why these apologies,
08:30we are seeing yesterday that how Tejal Pawar yesterday apologized
08:33and now today Praneet has apologized.
08:36So certainly it does seem like, you know,
08:39and they're looking at as to how this entire legal battle they'll have to really go through.
08:44So it's certainly some, a lot of pressure that is probably on these people right now.
08:50Absolutely. Vidya, do stay with us.
08:51A lot of pressure on these people.
08:53And maybe that's why these apology videos now surfacing on social media.
08:57Let's once again listen in.
09:04I actually had to do a lot of time.
09:07But my Instagram was suspended.
09:10You all have seen my crowd of videos.
09:12You all have seen me, you all have to do a lot of hate.
09:16You all have to do a lot of hate.
09:17And I also feel like I deserve this hate.
09:20Because when I was in crowd work,
09:23I was talking a lot of derogatory things.
09:25But all of the people who were left behind him,
09:29I also carried away and had a lapse in judgment.
09:32And I feel like this was a big mistake.
09:35I was talking about the same thing.
09:38I was talking about the same thing.
09:38But I couldn't do it.
09:39But what I couldn't do it,
09:41I gave it a platform,
09:42which was so escalated.
09:45way.
