00:00And in the theaters, I'm noticing I was singing the songs on the way home from the film in the
00:06car.
00:07But I was changing the lyrics and the melodies to be about my own life.
00:13As a little kid, I loved to sing. I loved to do children's theater performances.
00:16But everything came together when I went to play guitar at 12.
00:23I wrote my first song after learning my first three chords.
00:27It felt easy to work incredibly hard at this.
00:33It felt easy to nurture something I loved so much.
00:36To watch calluses form on the tips of my tiny fingers.
00:40And to become a constant observer of the human condition.
00:45Because people's feelings, passions, and motivations are always fascinating.
00:50And it was easy to choose songwriting over everything else in my life.
00:56But it couldn't have been easy for my parents and my brother, I'm good,
01:04to just pick up and move our entire family from Pennsylvania to relocate to Nashville
01:09so that I could hone my craft in the songwriting capital of the world.
01:14But after it became obvious that this was not even remotely a temporary phase their tween daughter was going through,
01:20they outfrooted their entire lives to move me to Music City.
01:24And even though words are supposed to kind of be my thing,
01:28I will never be able to express my gratitude.
