Part 3 of 4 of the children's TV series shown during Christmas 1986. Tolly finally gets to meet the children that have been haunting Green Knowe, and as well as finding out more about their past he is also warned by the children of a curse that shrouds the place - a 'demon tree' known as Green Noah...

Starring Alec Christie, Daphne Oxenford, Polly Maberly, James Trevelyan, Graham McGrath, Heather Ramsey, Gordon Kane, Ann Tirand and Ian Rattray. This has rarely been shown since it's broadcast in December 1986 and as such this recording from an old video tape may not be the best picture quality, so apologies for that. This is such an unusual children's drama, that takes it's time with it's subject and reflects the past and it's periods beautifully.

02:31Tolly? Tolly, what's wrong?
02:36Oh, what's the matter?
02:41They won't play with me. They just hide and tease me.
02:46Oh, has someone been teasing you?
02:50Those children, they're here. I saw them.
02:56Which children, Tolly?
02:58Those children, Alexandra and Lynette.
03:02You said they were dead, but they're not. They're here. I saw them.
03:26You don't hear them? Don't you hear them?
03:29Shall we let them in?
03:46After all, it sounds very sad to say they're dead, but it really doesn't make much difference.
03:53I expect the old grandmothers soon found they were still here.
03:59Why won't they play with me?
04:05They're like shy animals. They don't come just at first. Oh, they're sure.
04:11You mustn't be impatient.

04:45Not always.

04:52I do.

04:56Once.
04:57Toby's always the rarest.
04:58He's so often with Festy.
05:00Have you ever seen Festy?
05:02Never.
05:04But my grandfather knew someone who did.
05:11You see how much quicker the shadow horse goes than the rocking horse.
05:15I used to pretend that it had Festy's shadow instead of its own.
05:20Who saw him?
05:21Festy, I mean.
05:23Ah.
05:26My grandfather knew two people who certainly must have seen Festy one night.
05:33They were horse thieves.
05:36Gypsies.
05:37Black Ferdy and his old mother, Petronella.
05:43Mama.
06:00In those days, my grandfather kept many beautiful horses.
06:06Although he could have done with more stable room, one stall was always kept empty in case Festy decided to
06:13stay the night.
06:14Well, one dark night, when Black Ferdy and Petronella paid the stables a visit, Festy came too.
06:35Mama.
06:49Mama.
06:50Black Ferdy.
