00:49players Rene Baterbona and Divine Adili.
00:52But mostly, as a coach, I'm entrusted by you, the parents and the families, with first
01:04and foremost their well-being. And in this I feel I've failed.
01:25He calls the exercise a routine training in what they thought was shallow water. He also
01:30says the coaches and the players did everything they could to ensure that everybody arrived
01:34back on shore safely.
01:36And then we realized that we hadn't accomplished that.
01:45And in that moment, I experienced the descent into the darkest place imaginable. And yet I
01:59knew at the same time, that good people, people that had done an amazing job raising these two
02:08young men, were going to be in an even darker, more horrible place.
02:17At that moment, I felt, felt I had failed. I failed as a leader. I felt I had failed as
02:26a coach.
02:27I certainly felt like I had failed as a friend to Divine and Rene.
02:34The video message comes four days after the incident.
02:37It also comes after Ateneo educators urged school officials and the Blue Eagles coaching
02:42staff to address the deaths in person.
02:44The open letter to Ateneo President Father Roberto Yap, titled When Ateneo Failed Its Own,
02:49seeks greater clarity and transparency from the university.
02:53The letter has gained over 400 signatures.
02:55The letter reads,
02:57We appeal for the university administration and coaching staff to come forward in person
03:02with humility and acknowledgement of wrongdoing and lapses in judgment, risk mitigation,
03:06communication, and most especially, care for our students.
03:10The educators also raised questions, including whether the parents and guardians were informed
03:15of the nature of the team building, if there were safety measures put in place,
03:19and what concrete measures of accountability have been done.
03:24Philippine Defense Chief Gilberto Teodoro Jr. is banned from entering China and its territories.
03:30China's Foreign Affairs Ministry also bans Teodoro from engaging in any transaction,
03:34cooperation, or other activities with organizations or individuals in China.
03:38The sanction also applies to Teodoro's wife and Philippine Special Envoy to UNICEF,
03:43Monica Luis Prieto Teodoro, and their adult son.
03:46In a statement the ministry claims, Teodoro, quote,
03:49repeatedly made irresponsible remarks on China, which undermines China's legitimate interests
03:53and sabotages China-Philippines relations.
03:55The Philippine Foreign Affairs Department says, while it was China's prerogative to impose sanctions,
04:01the Philippines views it as an unfriendly act that further complicates the bilateral relations.
04:06Teodoro is President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s second cabinet official to be sanctioned by Beijing.
04:12His newly appointed labor chief, former Senator Francis Tolentino,
04:15is also barred from entering mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
04:19Teodoro says Friday, June 12, the sanctions were both China's right and, quote,
04:24truly what they do to those who speak the truth against their deception.
04:30Mindanao State University General Santos City Chancellor Shidik Zed Abantas says,
04:35they face campus infrastructure damage initially estimated at nearly 870 million pesos.
04:40The figure reflects the scale of rebuilding for damaged academic buildings,
04:44administrative offices, and student facilities across the campus.
04:48Abantas says, for the first time, our earthquake-tested buildings showed weakness
04:52when faced with a magnitude 7.8 earthquake.
04:55He says nearly 90% of the offices had already undergone repairs and renovations before the earthquake struck.
05:01Because of damage from the earthquake, Abantas says they are back to zero.
05:05He confirms academic activities will continue,
05:08but summer classes will shift online while repairs and safety assessments are ongoing.
05:12University records show, MSU Jensan serves about 9,500 students across nine colleges and one institute,

05:24A South Korean court sentences former President Yoon Suk-yeol to 30 years in prison
05:29over charges linked to military drones sent over Pyongyang, North Korea.
05:32The military drones allegedly helped Yoon create a pretext for his failed December 2024 martial law declaration.
05:39The Seoul Central District Court found Yoon guilty of abuse of power and aiding the enemy
05:44and for allegedly conspiring in the October 2024 drone incursion.
05:48Yoon denies wrongdoing and his lawyers say he neither ordered nor approved the operation.
05:53The ruling adds to a series of judgments against the ousted conservative leader.

06:02triggering a snap election that was won by Liberal President Lee Jae-myung.
