A social media influencer pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court in Putrajaya on Friday (June 12) to a charge of cheating a 58-year-old retiree out of RM80,000.

Mikhail Isaaq Mohd Rozi, 31, faces a jail term of up to 10 years, caning, and a fine, if convicted.

00:1031-year-old Mikhail Isaac, Mohammed Rozi, pleaded not guilty at the magistrate's court in Putrajaya on Friday.
00:18The charge was read before Magistrate Ezrin Zakaria.
00:21He is accused of deceiving 58-year-old retiree Tan Mei Lan into handing over 80,000 ringgit in cash,
00:29supposedly as capital for a cosmetic sales business.
00:33The transaction allegedly took place at Bank Mwamalat in Precinct 15 at around 3.30pm on May 21 last year.
00:42The accused allegedly sweetened the deal with big promises,
00:46a partnership position in a company called 2M Legacy,
00:50a monthly salary of 10,000 ringgit and a 10% cut of monthly profits.
00:55The charge was filed under Section 420 of the Penal Code,
01:00which carries a minimum one-year jail term, up to a maximum of 10 years,
01:05along with caning and a fine if convicted.
01:08The court granted bail of 5,000 ringgit with one surety.
01:12The case was set for mention on July 9th.
