00:00The past month has brought a steep growth curve for boxer Chantal Adams.
00:04From a corridor face-off to a first-round technical knockout in her second fight
00:09and a realization that there are a lot more people looking at her now
00:14in addition to that one opponent staring back at her in the ring.
00:19I'm just thankful for all the support from the country that I'm getting,
00:22all the love and just basically the support, I'm just thankful for it.
00:26And I hope to continue on being victorious or I will be victorious in the future.
00:33How do you feel about media attention?
00:35I mean, it's something that is new to me, so it's something that I have to get accustomed to,
00:40but I don't really feel it.
00:42I prefer to stay in the background, I'm more of an introverted person, you know.
00:46But, I mean, it comes with the support, so I'll have to be prepared for it, you know.
00:50Still, her disposition remains the same.
00:52But, it does not mean that she's closed off to try new things.
00:56In Venezuela, she tried their local delicacy.
01:00How's the best empanada you ever had?
01:02I mean, it's a new food to me, so I can't say if it's the best or the worst, you
01:06know.
01:07But, I know they do sell empanadas in Trinidad as well, as you know, quite a few of them across.
01:12You've never tried it in Trinidad?
01:13No, no. I've never had it in Trinidad.
01:16So, now that you've had one, you will have more again?
01:20Yeah, sure. Why not? It tastes good.
01:22She ate up her opponent just as fast as her first empanada.
01:26It's an achievement she's proud of.
01:28I felt thankful for the opportunity to fight in Venezuela.
01:33It was a quick fight, but I learned a lot.
01:37And, I felt proud of myself and my team as well, so yeah.
01:41What did you learn?
01:43I learned that once you see the opening, just take it and don't hesitate in a fight.
01:49Her coach, Bharat Ramuta, was pleased with her discipline.
01:52In particular, he was satisfied with how she performed at a lighter weight class.
01:57Well, remember, this fight was 135 before she was at 140, and she started off at 147.
02:04But, she kept her power because she's trained very hard.
02:07She's managed her diet and everything properly.
02:09She rests properly, you know.
02:12She's not the kind of person who will be running around and all that.
02:14But, she is a very, very disciplined person, and she maintains her discipline in and out the ring.
02:20And, that's what our dream fight is about, somebody who has the discipline.
02:23Adams will have a short rest period.
02:26Her promoter, Boxo Potts, is committed to ensuring that she gets the most out of her career.
02:31She will be back in the ring, injury-free, at least twice this month.
02:37We're looking at the 19th, and we're looking at Caracas on the 30th of this month.
02:41Twice.
02:42See a rolly eye.
02:44Sugary Robinson fought two world titles in a month.
02:49I think one was Turpin, and the other one was Pender.
02:52But, we could research that and see.
02:54Has happened before, and will happen again.
02:58Some fighters held three world titles at one time.
03:03That could happen also.
03:04Still evolving, Adams continues the journey of fighting many styles while mastering her own.
03:11Sergio Dufour, TV6 Sport.
