00:00It doesn't matter where you are, we're Nickelodeon, there you are, better off by far, Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon.
00:26On your mark, get set, stop!
00:31Hi, I'm Mark Summers, and what you saw is the way every episode of Double Dare begins.
00:36And as you know, this is how most of them end.
00:38They have 32 seconds, let's see how they do, pull yourself up, lead for that, pull yourself up, let's see
00:43how strong it is today, you've got 27 seconds.
00:46Oh boy, we're making the best today here on Double Dare, all the way down this line, into the upstream,
00:50don't forget to make that exchange.
00:51Over here to Diamond Hatch, you'll see how you're ready to do.
00:53Hurry up, you've got 60 seconds, stand up, pick up that flag, you've got the 50 seconds.
00:58Okay, get in here, get set, get in here, watch, keep going, you're down to 9 seconds, keep going, keep
01:03going, keep going, keep going, keep going, don't stop, don't stop, don't stop.
01:06Do you have the lead to get in here?
01:09Oh, what a job, come on over here, let it go, let it go, let it go, look at it,
01:14nice job.
01:16But what you don't know is that there's lots of stuff that goes on in the middle, some you see
01:20on the show and some you don't.
01:21And as host of the program, I'm here to show you the inside sloth.
01:25And you know what that means? Our usual craziness that you've probably seen, but there's some things I know you've
01:31never seen, because it's never been seen before anywhere.
01:33Trust me, this is embarrassing stuff.
01:36For example, I'm going to show you part of the audition tape that landed me this job.
01:40I started off as a page and worked my way up, actually starting off as a game show writer.
01:45I go back to Truth or Consequences days.
01:48I wrote the last year Bob Barker was the host of that show.
01:51Talk about embarrassing.
01:53And you'll also get to see the very first version of Double Dare before it hit the airwaves.
01:57Thanks, Bob. Thanks, everybody. Welcome to Double Dare.
02:00It's the game that doubles the challenge from your brains right down to your feet.
02:03And it's the game where you get to set your own odds.
02:06And there's one question I get asked more than any other.
02:09Have you ever run the obstacle course?
02:11Well, not only did I run the course, but I did it with Harvey.
02:14And you'll get to see what that looks like.
02:15Yeah, let's get this thing moving. You're dragging the show.
02:18I'm dragging.
02:20Uh, yeah, um, uh, no.
02:22No?
02:24Okay, okay. We're ready. We're getting ready.
02:27Besides the behind-the-scenes action, I'm also going to let you in on a few secrets
02:31that can help you beat our physical challenges and help you come out a winner on the obstacle course.
02:35So let's quit talking about it. Let's get to it.
02:37Here's the first bit of Inside Slop.
02:40Before a show gets on television, it gets tested over and over again.
02:43And long before I was hired as the host,
02:45the producers wanted to know how kids across America would react to a show that looked like this.
02:52Thank you, Bob. Welcome, Mrs. Mister, and welcome, Powers.
02:55We're going to start this game with a trivia round of Double Dare.
02:59You know that in the trivia round, if you don't know the answer, it looks like a smart move.
03:03You can dare your opponents to answer for twice the money.
03:06Because if they get it wrong, you get the bucks.
03:08Okay, we start this with a toss-up round.
03:10So hands on the buzzer.
03:11Here's the question. For $10 and control the game, 70% of the Earth's surface is covered by water.
03:16But what is the name of the largest ocean in the Earth?
03:20And Mrs. Mister?
03:22Atlantic.
03:23Atlantic.
03:23Wrong! I'm so sorry.
03:26Here we go again.
03:28Once more.
03:29In Alice in Wonderland, what kind of cat does Alice meet?
03:32And I think the Powers got it that time.
03:35Cheshire.
03:35The Cheshire cat for $10 and control the game.
03:39Okay. Plus or minus $10,000.
03:42How many TV commercials does the average American kid watch every year?
03:46Plus or minus $10,000.
03:48What's the comment?
03:49$30,000.
03:49$30,000 is right.
03:51$25,000 commercials.
03:52You just snuck in that one for $10.
03:55Are you ready, Phoebe?
03:56Phoebe, are you ready?
03:57Yes.
03:58Phoebe's ready.
03:59Gabe, are you ready?
04:00Yes.
04:00Gabe's ready.
04:01Okay, go.
04:03That guy needs a little work.
04:04Now, that's not me.
04:05That's Jeffrey Darby, our executive producer, hosting the first version of Double Dare.
04:09And take a look at that obstacle course.
04:11Stalkers over.
04:12Swag two.
04:13And back to corn.
04:14Now it's for the cow syrup underneath the corn syrup.
04:18She's on the island.
04:19She's smart underneath.
04:20There's our first slime canal.
04:22Looks a little different.
04:23But how about that tank?
04:24That was a lot smaller then than it is now.
04:26Through the snow.
04:29I know it looks a little different, but kids were smart enough to know a good thing when they saw
04:33it.
04:33And that funny-looking show became this.
04:36Okay, jump in there.
04:37Okay, you've got to go under the bed.
04:38Under the bed.
04:39Over here, under the bed.
04:40Under the bed.
04:41Lock on.
04:42You come over here.
04:43Come on the other side.
04:44Go through there.
04:45Get it, get it, get it.
04:46Get the bean bag.
04:47Get the bean bag.
04:48All right, you come over here.
04:49Here's the flag.
04:50Get the flag.
04:51Get it in there.
04:52Get it.
04:52Okay, get over here.
04:53The tires win.
04:54You go over here and catch this.
04:55You've got 14 seconds.
04:56Get across.
04:57Grab it, grab it.
04:58Get it.
04:58All right, get in the hands of the wheel.
05:00Get it going.
05:01Get it going.
05:01Get over here, get over here.
05:03Keep going, keep going.
05:04Keep going.
05:06Keep going.
05:07Keep going.
05:08Take it.
05:10Way to go.
05:12Way to go.
05:13Nice job.
05:14Nice job.
05:15Come here.
05:15So Double Dare was on its way.
05:17They had physical challenges.
05:18They had an obstacle course.
05:20But they didn't have a host.
05:21How did I get the job?
05:23Well, I could do this.
05:26Well, not very well.
05:28I had to audition, actually, to get to this point.
05:30And here's the tape that, until now, has never been seen on TV.
05:33Take a look.
05:34You're going to double dare them back.
05:35All right.
05:3540 points or the physical challenge.
05:37The question is, how many pennies are in $10?
05:42You're going to take the physical challenge?
05:43All right, Amy, why don't you come up here?
05:44This is the physical challenge coming up for you.
05:47And do this correctly.
05:48Mike, we're going to ask you to come up as well.
05:51Now, this physical challenge is going to be very easy.
05:53Amy, why don't you come up over here?
05:54And Mike, right over there.
05:55Have you ever been to Hawaii?
05:58Never been there.
05:58It's a great place.
05:59You've never learned a hula, though, huh?
06:01Well, a little bit.
06:02All right.
06:02You know what this is.
06:03This is a hula hoop.
06:04Okay.
06:04I hope one of you knows how to use the hula hoop.
06:06And obviously, it's Amy, because your partner, Mike, has 15 seconds to throw three nerf balls
06:13through the hoop while you hula.
06:14Why don't you give us a little demonstration there on how you hula there, Amy?
06:17Let me see what it looks like.
06:19This is easy stuff here.
06:21All right.
06:21Very good.
06:21All right.
06:22Stop.
06:22And I've got to keep it going for 15 seconds.
06:24Mike, we have three nerf balls.
06:25If you get them through the hoop, within 15 seconds, 40 points is yours.
06:28Ready?
06:29Here we go.
06:29The clock is going to start.
06:31Why don't you start hulaing here, if there is such a word, Amy?
06:33Okay.
06:34Ready?
06:34Go.
06:35Okay.
06:35Go.
06:36Okay.
06:37Quickly now.
06:37Time is running out.
06:38Hurry up, Amy.
06:38I'm going to quickly.
06:39Okay.
06:40We'll get the two on that.
06:41All right.
06:42We've got about five seconds left.
06:43No.
06:43I'm kidding.
06:43Keep going.
06:44Keep hulaing, Amy.
06:46Almost.
06:47Five seconds left.
06:48Keep it going.
06:49Keep it going.
06:49Go.
06:50Time is up.
06:51Time is up.
06:52That's okay, Amy.
06:5340 points doesn't go to you, but how about a round of applause for Amy and Mike for doing
06:56such a darn good job there for us.
06:57All right.
06:58Very nice.
06:59The job of hosting Double Dare was mine.
07:01So now that I had the job, I'm a new host.
07:04It's a brand new game.
07:05You've got to tell people how to play it, right?
07:06So each day I tell you the rules, and here's how they sounded when I auditioned.
07:11Now, you know the rules.
07:12If you don't know the answer or you think the other team is stumped, you can double them
07:16to answer it for double the points, but be careful.
07:19They can always double dare you back to triple the points.
07:22All right.
07:23Here's how they sounded on the first show.
07:25Now, on Double Dare, you know you get to win a lot of dollars, but a dare can get you
07:29double the money.
07:30Now, here's how it works.
07:31I'm going to ask you a question.
07:33And if you don't know the answer or you think the other team is stumped, doesn't have any
07:37idea, well, you can dare them.
07:39You can do that, and that doubles the dollars.
07:41Now, you can also double dare them back for four times the dollars.
07:45All right.
07:45When we do that, however, you either have to answer the question or take the physical
07:50challenge.
07:50And here's how they sound today.
07:52Let's talk about Double Dare.
07:53It's one where daring for dollars will double your bucks, and here's how that works.
07:56I'm going to ask you a question.
07:57And if you don't know the answer or think the other team hasn't got a clue, you can dare
08:01them to answer it for double the dollars.
08:03But be careful, because they can always double dare you back for four times the amount, and
08:08then you either have to answer that question or take the physical challenge.
08:11Good luck.
08:11Some days I said the rules, and they sounded okay.
08:14Some days I said them, and, well, in fact, some days I didn't say the rules at all.
08:19Dave, Robin, are you back there?
08:21Could you come out here just for a second?
08:22I'd like to see Dave and Robin.
08:23Are they out here?
08:24I always do the rules all the time, and I think Dave and Robin need to do them over here.
08:27Robin, where are you?
08:27You're backstage there.
08:28Let's see if we can find Robin.
08:29I know she's back over here.
08:31Come on, Robin.
08:32Where's Robin?
08:32Come on.
08:33She's hiding from me.
08:34Now, you folks have heard me do the rules numerous times, so it is up to Dave and Robin
08:38to give us the rules here on Double Dare.
08:40On your mark, get set, go.
08:42You'll ask the team a question.
08:44If they don't know the answer, they can double dare you back.
08:46No, you missed one, Robin.
08:47They first dare, and then if they don't know the answer, they double dare back, and then...
08:51And you can take the physical challenge.
08:53Where it's worth four times the bucks.
08:54Sounds good.
08:55Don't give up the day job.
08:56A round of applause for Dave and Robin.
08:57Thank you, Dave and Robin.
08:59Let me explain the rules.
09:01You know, here on the show, the crew constantly is driving me crazy.
09:04They say that I don't know the rules.
09:06They say I just, you know, don't understand them, or I don't...
09:09You know, Mark, they tell me the same doggone thing.
09:11They're forever, like, kidding me about not knowing the rules.
09:13I know.
09:14I've asked you a couple of times, and you know what we should do?
09:16Harvey, I want to bring up the Double Dare Rules Choir.
09:20Ladies and gentlemen, a round of applause for the Double Dare Rules Choir.
09:23Just right over here.
09:24Hi, guys.
09:25How are you?
09:29All right.
09:30I'll get you started.
09:31On your mark.
09:32Get set.
09:33Go.
09:34As you know, Double Dare is the only game where you can double your bucks.
09:40Here's how it works.
09:41I'll ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, or think the other team hasn't
09:47got a clue, you can dare them to answer it.
09:50But be careful.
09:52They can always double dare you back for four or nine dollars, and then you have to give
09:57an answer for one of the physical challenges.
10:00A round of applause, ladies and gentlemen, for the Double Dare Rules Choir.
10:04All right.
10:08And you parents at home, that's our crew, and how many of you want your children to
10:11come here now, huh?
10:12Okay.
10:14Okay.
10:15They're on Double Dare.
10:16A right answer gets you dollars, but a dare gets you double.
10:18Here's how that works.
10:19I'm going to ask a question, and if you don't know the answer, or think the other team hasn't
10:23got a clue, you can dare them to answer it for double the dollars.
10:26But be careful, because they can always double dare you back for four times the bucks, and
10:30then you either have to give the answer or take the physical challenge.
10:34Yes, it's coming out of my ears, folks.
10:35I've said it so many times.
10:36I can just keep saying it, and I still use cue cards, which is the most amazing thing
10:39to our producers here.
10:40Okay.
10:41Let me tell you about this game.
10:43Michael Klinghofer's standing there, and it's scaring the heck out of me.
10:45This is a game where daring for dollars will double your bucks, and here's how that works.
10:48I'm going to ask a question, and if you don't know the answer, or think the other team
10:51hasn't got a clue, you can dare them to answer it for double the dollars.
10:54But be careful, because they can always double dare you back for four times the amount, and
10:59then you either have to answer the question or take the physical challenge.
11:02Follow me, folks, if you would, please.
11:03Just right over here.
11:04This is what we are going to call the burning of the cards.
11:07All right, here they are, right over here.
11:09We don't need these anymore.
11:10I finally learned how to do this.
11:11Let's tear them up.
11:12We don't need these cards anymore, ladies and gentlemen.
11:15I have them down to memory.
11:17Yay!
11:17All right, well, all right.
11:21And the second most asked question I get is, you know, youngster, where do these physical
11:26challenges come from?
11:27Well, let's take a look, right here.
11:29And now, right here, take a look.
11:31We get lots of letters here on Double Dare asking, where do you come up with these physical
11:35challenges?
11:35Well, follow me.
11:36I'm going to take you right back here, show you the Double Dare physical challenge school
11:39where we come up with these things.
11:41Oh, here's Mr. Silverberg.
11:42Excuse me, Mr. Silverberg.
11:43Could you explain how we come up with these physical challenges?
11:45Dr. Calderwood, could you show the new egg break?
11:47We're working on this.
11:47It's really going to be terrific.
11:49Put your hands out here.
11:50Okay.
11:51All right, ready?
11:51Try that.
11:52Go ahead.
11:53Once again.
11:54That's it.
11:55Wait a minute.
11:56Try this one.
11:56Hold on.
11:57Go ahead.
11:58Oh, yeah.
11:59That's good.
11:59Very good.
12:00Thank you, Rob.
12:01That's terrific.
12:01We have this very new technique also.
12:03Dr. Ledeau, could you demonstrate the toothbrush toothpick?
12:05We're going to get at the gums.
12:06It's going to be really super.
12:08No.
12:09Keep working on it.
12:10Now, open wide.
12:11Open wide.
12:12No.
12:12Okay, hold on.
12:14Now, this is my favorite.
12:16This is called the teething balloon break.
12:18Kids, you write in about this one.
12:20We've got Chris here.
12:21Okay, ready?
12:21Ready?
12:22No, pull up your head.
12:23Pull up your head.
12:24Mmm, so they don't always work.
12:25Thank you very much, Chris.
12:27We'll just get you two.
12:28So, Mark, it's a very accurate science where we say less isn't more, but mess is more.
12:33Thank you so much.
12:34Let's go back over here to the Dumbledore obstacle course where, boy, careful, kids.
12:41Stay in school or you can grow up like that as well.
12:44You know, we really do test the physical challenges, but not quite that way.
12:47And here's some more inside slop.
12:49Every challenge you see on the show gets tested by kids.
12:58And if the challenge can't be done on the test, we don't use it.
13:01But sometimes, even when a physical challenge works in testing, this is what happens on the show.
13:05I'm getting out of here.
13:06What you have to do, you have three and you have three.
13:07We have two different locks.
13:08Now, I don't know if that goes on the bottom or the top or whatever, but you've got 30 seconds
13:12to open up both locks.
13:14Do that.
13:14You're $40 richer.
13:15Have $160, as a matter of fact.
13:18All right?
13:18You know what you have to do.
13:19Decide if you want to take the top or the bottom.
13:21If it doesn't work, then that means you've got to switch keys.
13:23All right?
13:24On your mark.
13:2630 seconds.
13:27On your mark.
13:28Get set.
13:29Go.
13:29All right.
13:30Attack those locks now.
13:31Somebody get on the top.
13:32Somebody get on the bottom.
13:32Use every key that you can.
13:33You may want to turn them.
13:34All right.
13:35Try a different key, then.
13:36If you get one, you know that you're closed, and the other one has it in the right place.
13:39All right.
13:40Keep turning them.
13:40Keep turning them.
13:41If it doesn't work, you may want to try the other one.
13:43All right.
13:43We've got 16 seconds.
13:4516 seconds.
13:46Hurry up.
13:47Quickly.
13:47Okay.
13:48You may want to change them, then.
13:49Okay.
13:49Go to the top.
13:50Go to the bottom.
13:51Quickly.
13:545, 4, 3, 2, 1.
13:58We didn't open any of them.
14:00We didn't open any of them.
14:03Get it in there.
14:05Hurry up.
14:10Time is up.
14:11Did you get any of them open?
14:12Didn't get any of them open.
14:14We got nine seconds.
14:17We got one.
14:19We got one.
14:19We got one.
14:22Oh, time ran out.
14:25We've got six seconds.
14:30Oh!
14:32I got one.
14:34Your hands were shaking there.
14:35You're having a tough time.
14:36That was one that didn't work, but should have.
14:38And here's one I thought wouldn't work, but did.
14:4120 seconds to get one plane in the mailbox.
14:43$40 at stake.
14:43Good luck to both of you.
14:44On your mark.
14:45Get set.
14:46Go.
14:46Get the plane over there and send it over in the right direction.
14:49Okay.
14:50Keep going.
14:50I know Dave is really rooting you on.
14:52He needs this one.
14:53Okay.
14:53Oh, my goodness.
14:54Not quite safe.
14:55Oh!
14:56Are we giving it then?
14:58We're giving him that.
15:01We're giving him that, huh?
15:04We're going to give him that.
15:05Okay.
15:06$40 over there.
15:07See, we have a bet here.
15:08I said there is no way this thing can be done.
15:10All right?
15:10And they proved me wrong over there.
15:12All right?
15:13Good for you.
15:13That's a nice job.
15:14On your mark, get set, go.
15:17Okay.
15:18Get him in there.
15:18Keep going.
15:19Don't stop.
15:20Don't stop.
15:21Oh, that one was very close.
15:23Oh, we will accept it.
15:25Absolutely.
15:26Nice job.
15:27All right.
15:27All you have to do is get one in there.
15:29And.
15:35Proving once again, ladies and gentlemen, that one cannot be done.
15:38It's impossible.
15:38It cannot get done.
15:40Hey, Mark.
15:40Mark.
15:41Oh, yeah.
15:41Hi, Harvey.
15:41Hi, I thought it was time we show everybody some of the secrets of how we do our physical
15:45challenges.
15:45Oh, yeah.
15:46Secrets.
15:46Insights.
15:47Could I do any particular one you might have had in mind, Harvey?
15:51Well.
15:52Harvey's wild oats, huh?
15:54We'll get to that just a little later, but let's take a look at this one.
15:56Okay.
15:57This one is called In Your Egg Hat.
15:59And we have some eggs over there.
16:01Why don't you demonstrate how we do that?
16:02All right?
16:02Why don't you just go ahead?
16:03No, I like it better over here, Robin.
16:04Why don't we just try it over here?
16:05Just toss some eggs over there and see if they go, how they go in the hat.
16:08Okay?
16:08This is...
16:09Go ahead and just get it in there.
16:10Okay.
16:10That's exactly how it works.
16:12Just like that.
16:13Thank you, Robin.
16:14Dave, come here and show them exactly what they have to do.
16:16Just kind of demonstrate how they have to keep those ducks down.
16:18Now, Mark.
16:18Mark.
16:18Yeah?
16:19I just spoke with the producer.
16:21Yeah?
16:21And he didn't think that that explanation was quite clear enough.
16:24Yeah?
16:24And you know what he wanted us to do, Mark?
16:26What's he wanted us to do?
16:26He wanted me and you to demonstrate how to do this.
16:28Well, since I have this microphone, I don't think I'll be able to do it.
16:30Oh, no, no, no.
16:31It's no problem.
16:32No problem at all.
16:33I spoke to him and he said it's no problem.
16:35All right.
16:35We can give our microphone.
16:37We're going to drown these ducks.
16:38So on your mark, get set, go.
16:39Ready, Harvey?
16:39Let's go.
16:40You're going to drown these ducks.
16:41This is the most disgusting thing.
16:43See, that's easy.
16:44See?
16:45Just like that.
16:45That's how you do it.
16:46All right?
16:46Good.
16:46We got it, Harvey?
16:47One, two, three.
16:48All right.
16:48Good.
16:49Yeah.
16:50Well, thank you, Harvey.
16:51So if you could...
16:54What we're going to do is a physical challenge.
16:56Let me explain it.
16:57We have a bucket, okay, and then over here I've got some eggs.
17:04I kind of forget.
17:05Harvey, could you help me out?
17:06I'm having trouble remembering what this thing is.
17:08What do we do?
17:09Well, now, you see, Mark, it's very careful.
17:12You have to be very careful with the egg.
17:13You have to find just the right kind of egg.
17:16You have to get to know the egg personally.
17:18Uh-huh.
17:19Hello, egg.
17:20You have to find just the right spots, and then you have to...
17:26Oh.
17:28How'd that feel, Harvey?
17:29Was that nice?
17:30Thank you so much for demonstrating that for me.
17:32Really disgusting.
17:33That's basically what you have to do.
17:34We're going to take a nice job.
17:36You look real good there, Harvey.
17:37There's where the term egg on your face actually got started.
17:39You have to catch two eggs inside the hat in 20 seconds.
17:43Two eggs in 20 seconds.
17:44Now, you know, hey, Mark.
17:45Yeah?
17:46I know we've explained this a lot of times,
17:48but I don't know that everybody out there understood what that stunt was all about.
17:51Do you think, guys?
17:52So I think...
17:54Since I'm over here buying the eggs,
17:56Mark, why don't you go put the hat on?
18:00We'll show them what it's all about.
18:02Yeah.
18:04I like it better if you would put the hat on, Harvey.
18:07Oh, no, no.
18:08We want Mark to put the hat on.
18:12Mark, here's how it's supposed to go.
18:13Oh, all right.
18:15No, not quite there.
18:19There we go.
18:20I like to double there.
18:23Yeah, that's how it's supposed to go, Harvey.
18:24You're absolutely right.
18:26Yeah, thank you so much for doing it.
18:28Yes, yes.
18:28A round of applause for our former announcer, Harvey, over there.
18:31Ladies and gentlemen.
18:33Okay.
18:34Clown shoe golf.
18:35Harder than it looks.
18:36Off just by a fraction there.
18:38Trying to get...
18:39Here's the real inside slop on how to do clown shoe golf.
18:42Harvey?
18:43Well, first, get a clown shoe.
18:44Now, make sure there's a hole in the end of the clown shoe,
18:46because you'll be here all day otherwise.
18:48Now, here's the real secret.
18:49This is so simple.
18:50You take your shoe, you lift up the back heel,
18:53and it makes it level in the front.
18:55The ball will go right in.
18:56Mark, show them how it's done.
18:57Oh, this is going to be great, Harvey.
18:58First time, every time, just like that.
19:01And it's wild out here, isn't it?
19:03Now, Mark, don't you think it's time
19:04that we showed them the secret of Harvey's Wild Oats?
19:06Actually, we didn't even know the secret.
19:08These two girls from Austin showed it to us.
19:09Watch.
19:10On your mark, get set, go.
19:12All right, get over there the quickest way you know how.
19:14Okay, that's a good idea.
19:15Okay, now stack them all in one hand.
19:17Okay, good idea.
19:18Now, over to your partner.
19:19Now, one hand and one hand only.
19:21Now, you must walk back the other direction.
19:23Okay, that's the hard way to do it.
19:25Okay, all the way over.
19:26You're down for six seconds.
19:28Four, three.
19:29Nice job.
19:30There we go.
19:30$880 for your corner.
19:32Look at over there.
19:34Pretty amazing contestants, don't you agree?
19:36Not bad, not bad.
19:37But I would have been able to come up with that all by myself
19:39if you hadn't spent all that time
19:40making me dress up in those silly outfits.
19:42Me?
19:43What outfits are you talking about?
19:44You don't remember?
19:45No.
19:45Oh, well, I remember it like it was yesterday.
19:49What was that?
19:51Flashback music.
19:53This is my flashback.
19:56Remember?
19:57No.
19:59Well?
20:00Hey!
20:03I'm impersonating an Elvis impersonator.
20:05Oh-huh.
20:06Oh-huh.
20:07Okay.
20:08Thank you, Harvey.
20:09Harvey, when is Santa coming to town?
20:12Well, I have a little shopping to do, but I'll be around soon.
20:16Well, we look forward to seeing you.
20:18I don't want to hear anything out of you, Mark.
20:19Okay, I want to do it.
20:20You look pretty stupid in that hat, too, you know?
20:22Well, I'm going to be your grandfather, because nobody looks like this anymore.
20:26Nobody I know, Mark, no.
20:28No, I don't know either.
20:29Okay, well, this is called Harvey's Wild Oats,
20:31and we're going to put the three containers...
20:32Harvey, how do we come up with these ideas?
20:33Oh, I don't know.
20:37Well, if we find out, we'll let you know.
20:39Today, it's Tarzan's Vine, and you know, on a special night,
20:42if you're real lucky, Tarzan may swing by.
20:45I don't know, it doesn't have that...
20:51In fact, he can swing by twice in one time.
20:53It's hard to believe, but he actually can do that.
20:55And, gee, I can't believe Tarzan is actually here.
20:57Let's go talk to him.
20:59Tarzan.
21:00Tarzan.
21:01Yes?
21:03That's not Tarzan, that's Harvey, Harvey.
21:05Hey, Harv, what were you doing as Tarzan,
21:07trying to warm up for our obstacle course run?
21:09What are you doing looking at my flashback?
21:10No, you're not going to show that thing, are you?
21:12Of course, that was great.
21:13Oh, man.
21:15But before we get to that great run,
21:16let's meet a couple of other people who are on the show every day.
21:20Dave and Robin have come a long way.
21:22At first, they seemed a little shy, but Dave loosened up.
21:25Go through the sewer chute, if you would, please,
21:27and don't pull on the rope.
21:28This is what you have to do.
21:29And if you could climb up that into this tube and go down the tube.
21:33Show them exactly how you go down the tube.
21:35Dave will come down here.
21:36This is where it says.
21:37It says, to Dave from the guys.
21:38Eat your right down.
21:40Dave is going to do a swan dive into the marina just like this.
21:44Ready?
21:45Oh!
21:46Way to go.
21:48And how do you feel?
21:50I got no Reeboks and no socks.
21:55But sometimes, Robin was at a loss for words.
21:58We all know the lovely Robin.
21:59She left the aquarium in the freezer.
22:02Why did you do this?
22:03Hey.
22:05This is why we pay her the big bucks, folks.
22:08Hey.
22:09All right.
22:09What a great ad lib.
22:10So one day, I surprised her with this.
22:14We have a new book coming out that she has written.
22:16It's called, Hey, Robin Speaks.
22:20And it's by Robin.
22:23It's by Robin as told to Dave.
22:26And it's called, Hey.
22:28And I don't know if you...
22:29It's an awful thin book there, Robin.
22:31Any particular reason for that?
22:32Hey.
22:33Hey.
22:33All right.
22:34Thank you so much.
22:35Round of applause for Robin.
22:35Look for that in stores everywhere.
22:37Hey.
22:38But the next time I tried to surprise her, she got even with me.
22:42Now, you have nothing in the hat.
22:43What else do you eat with hot dogs?
22:45Beans.
22:46Oh, perfect.
22:47And we have some baked beans.
22:49And what kind of baked beans are these, Robin?
22:51Well, Mark, I'm glad you asked.
22:52These are kidney beans from the Latin, Facilius vulgaris.
22:56High in protein.
22:57Cultivated worldwide.
22:59They're a very good, very good food group.
23:02And, hey, Mark.
23:04I've been set up on this thing.
23:06Okay.
23:06Put the beans in the hat.
23:08Will you, Robin, please?
23:09You know, Mark, I couldn't help but notice you looked a little surprised there.
23:12Yeah.
23:13This show is really full of surprises.
23:15But nothing surprised me more than the very first obstacle of our very first day.
23:19It was called Nightmare.
23:21And here's one of our before-seat footage that'll help you understand why it truly was a nightmare.
23:29All right.
23:29Who's going to start off?
23:30All right, Mary.
23:31Start over here.
23:32I'm going to count you down.
23:33I'll say, on your mark, get set, go.
23:35Find the flag and the pillows, and we're on our way.
23:37Good luck.
23:37Ready?
23:38On your mark.
23:39Get set.
23:39Let's go.
23:42All right.
23:43She's ripping those feathers out.
23:44Try and find that flag.
23:45Get it out of there.
23:46Come on.
23:46Find that flag.
23:47Come on.
23:48Get that flag.
23:49You can't.
23:50No, you can't help.
23:51Find the flag.
23:53Find the flag.
23:54It's in there somewhere.
23:56Take it out.
23:59Open it up.
24:01It's on the other side, I think.
24:03There you go.
24:04Find the flag in there.
24:05You've got 35 seconds.
24:0634 seconds.
24:07Find those flags.
24:09They're in the feather somewhere.
24:10In the feathers somewhere?
24:12I wouldn't count on it.
24:14What we didn't know is that this team could have looked for the flag all day.
24:19You see, because it was our very first obstacle course, we forgot to put a flag inside.
24:25Only 14 seconds left.
24:28There's a flag.
24:29Keep going.
24:30Keep going.
24:30Just nine seconds.
24:32Seven.
24:33Six.
24:34Keep pushing those feathers out.
24:36Three.
24:37Two.
24:38One.
24:40Sorry, your time is up.
24:42We never even got to our first flag.
24:43Gee, I feel bad about that.
24:45There is a flag in there somewhere, I promise.
24:46We just, unfortunately, don't have time to go in and find it.
24:49But there is a flag in there.
24:50And we're only to obstacle number one.
24:53We're cutting.
24:54Great.
24:54Thank goodness.
24:57So the only fair thing to do was try it again.
25:00This time with a flag.
25:02Pull it out.
25:03Pass it along.
25:04You're on your way.
25:04You got 60 seconds.
25:05We wish you a lot of luck.
25:06Right, gang?
25:07All righty.
25:08Here we go.
25:09On your mark.
25:10Get set.
25:11Go.
25:13All right.
25:14We're dumping the feathers out here.
25:17And trying to find that flag.
25:19Go ahead.
25:19Get in there.
25:20Dump those feathers out.
25:21Find that flag.
25:21Get in there.
25:22Find that flag.
25:23It's in there somewhere.
25:24Hurry up.
25:25Look over here.
25:26It's got to be in there somewhere.
25:27Dig in there hard.
25:28Now, I thought the producers had put the flag in.
25:31Look in there.
25:32Keep going.
25:33Keep pushing around in that feather bunch.
25:36And the producers thought I'd put it in.
25:38Maybe it's still in the bag.
25:40Maybe it's still in the bag.
25:41Check it out.
25:42Of course, the kids really didn't care who put the flag in.
25:45They just wanted to find it.
25:47But once again, they could have looked all day.
25:51And almost did.
25:52Maybe it's over there by the nightmare stand.
25:54We just have 17 seconds left.
25:59Keep looking.
26:00It's got to be in there somewhere.
26:01Look in the bag over there.
26:02Just nine seconds.
26:04Six, five, four, three, two, one.
26:10We're going to cut again.
26:14So it was only fair to let them try it one more time.
26:18All right.
26:19She's looking for those feathers.
26:20And she's trying to find it.
26:21There's a flag.
26:22There's a flag over there.
26:23But it wasn't just our first time doing the obstacle course.
26:26It was also our cameraman.
26:29And when he fell and blocked their path, it was time for nightmare.
26:32Take four.
26:36On your mark.
26:37Get set.
26:38Go.
26:39All right.
26:40Okay.
26:40Get that flag.
26:41Pass it on.
26:42We're going to jump over here to the monkey bars.
26:43Swing across as quickly as you can.
26:45You've got 53 seconds.
26:46Grab that flag.
26:47Pass it over here.
26:48Give her the flag.
26:49You've got to take the flag.
26:50All right.
26:51Go up the chocolate syrup.
26:52Got to go up the syrup.
26:54Go ahead.
26:54Keep pulling yourself up.
26:55Keep going.
26:57Keep going.
26:57Pull yourself up.
26:58Okay.
26:59Jump up on the platform and around the slide.
27:02There we go.
27:02Come down that slide.
27:04Grab the flag.
27:05Grab the flag.
27:06Grab the flag.
27:07All right.
27:08Go through the syrup.
27:09Go through the syrup.
27:09Just take one flag.
27:10Just take the flag.
27:11There you go.
27:13Get it.
27:14Get it.
27:15There we go.
27:16Pass it on.
27:17All righty.
27:18Over here.
27:18Over here.
27:19There we go.
27:20Jump up the...
27:21You've got 16 seconds.
27:22Pull yourself up.
27:24Pull yourself up.
27:26Keep going.
27:27Jump over.
27:28Nine seconds.
27:29Pass it on.
27:30Pass it on.
27:32Grab the flag.
27:33There you go.
27:33Grab it.
27:34Jump in here.
27:35All right.
27:36One.
27:38Oh, time's up.
27:39Time's up.
27:40Time's up.
27:40You did terrific.
27:41So finally, the first obstacle course on the first day was done.
27:45And that's the inside flop.
27:47Good job.
27:48Harvey's been nice enough to volunteer and help me illustrate some secrets that can help
27:52you conquer some of our most famous obstacles, like the Sunday slide.
27:55Most popular one, you think?
27:56Has to be the ones the kids talk about the most.
27:58Yep.
27:58The one that'll hurt you the most, though, is when you put your foot in the chocolate pudding.
28:03You're dead meat if you touch that.
28:04The real secret is to put your foot underneath the railings on either side.
28:07Show him, Harvey.
28:08Just like this.
28:09Look how quickly he gets up.
28:11Ta-da!
28:11And we've had a lot of contestants do it just that way.
28:14Watch.
28:15All right.
28:15You go up the slide.
28:16Emily's going to wait on the other side.
28:18Good job.
28:1936 seconds.
28:20Pull yourself up.
28:21Way to go.
28:22Come down that slide as quickly as you can.
28:25Hurry up.
28:25Come on down.
28:27Come on down quickly.
28:28Pick up the flag.
28:28Pick up the flag.
28:29Get the flag.
28:30Get the flag.
28:31Okay.
28:31You have to wait over there.
28:32Down to 44 seconds.
28:34He's doing a great job.
28:35They picked up time on that one.
28:37Sunday slide is really slippery today.
28:39Oh, that was a great exchange of 18 seconds.
28:42Let's see how good.
28:44So remember what we said.
28:45Once your feet get in the chocolate, you're dead meat.
28:49Still not realistic.
28:50If you can grab up there, you will do it.
28:52Spectacular.
28:53Look at that.
28:53Way to go.
28:54Nice job.
28:55Let's go, guys.
28:56To the victory.
28:59Oh, it didn't happen.
29:01And right into victory.
29:02On your mark.
29:03Get set.
29:04Go.
29:04Get up there as quickly as you can.
29:06You got 60 seconds to do the whole course.
29:08Grab it up there.
29:08Pull yourself up.
29:09You got 55 seconds.
29:10Hurry, hurry, hurry.
29:11You're not moving fast enough.
29:12You got to keep going here, gang.
29:14Fall into the whipped cream and grab it.
29:16Okay.
29:16Go, baby.
29:16Come on.
29:17Get up to Sunday slide.
29:18I hope he doesn't get his foot into that.
29:19Hurry, hurry, hurry.
29:20Get it up.
29:20Get it up quickly, quickly, quickly.
29:22Pull up.
29:22Pull up.
29:22You can do it.
29:23You got it.
29:2316 seconds.
29:24Come on.
29:25Oh, here I am.
29:25Way to go.
29:26Up to the platform and down on 50 slide.
29:28That's what he has to do with that Picasso painting.
29:30But it's not a Picasso.
29:31It's a positive.
29:32Well, the heck with that.
29:33Time to move on.
29:34Oh, what a great race.
29:48Here's the inside slop on the one-ton human hamster wheel.
29:52The biggest mistake people make is to run in place like this.
29:57That'll get you nowhere fast.
29:59The real secret is to walk up the wall as fast as you can.
30:02The faster you walk up, the faster the lights go on.
30:05But don't go too fast, because this will happen.
30:08Whoa.
30:09But for every klutz like that, we have more successful winners,
30:12and this could be your Wheel of Fortune.
30:15Go.
30:17All right.
30:18Walk around there.
30:18You're doing a great job.
30:19Okay.
30:19You can stop now, because it's coming down.
30:23Get set.
30:24Go.
30:25Keep going around there.
30:25Keep going.
30:26Keep going.
30:27Keep it going.
30:27You're already up to number three.
30:29Don't stop.
30:29No.
30:29Keep going.
30:30Keep going.
30:30Don't stop.
30:31Okay.
30:31Jump up there.
30:32Come on over to number two.
30:34Come on over to number two.
30:35Get set.
30:36Go.
30:36Walk up there.
30:37Keep walking.
30:38Keep walking.
30:38Don't stop.
30:39Keep walking.
30:39You're doing a great job.
30:40Keep going.
30:41Keep going.
30:41You can stop now.
30:42You can stop now.
30:43Your partner's getting it.
30:44Over here at obstacle number two.
30:45The tire ride.
30:46Walk around.
30:46Walk around.
30:47Keep going.
30:47Keep going.
30:48Keep going.
30:48Walk.
30:49Keep going.
30:50Keep going.
30:51Keep going.
30:51Don't stop.
30:52Stop.
30:52Keep going.
30:53Keep going.
30:53Keep going.
30:54Keep going.
30:55Stop it.
30:56Oh, my God.
30:57There you go.
30:59Congratulations.
31:04Here's the inside slop on the ringer.
31:06Actually, there are two hints.
31:08One of the most important is, on the way down,
31:10if you can grab the flag, you'll pick up precious seconds.
31:13You'll lose time if you have to go back.
31:15But you'll never get down this ramp
31:16unless you turn the crank in the right direction, just like this.
31:20I had no idea this was going to be so educational, Mark.
31:24Harvey, we're always doing educational segments on our program.
31:27You don't say.
31:27I remember the time when...
31:30Hey, where's my flashback music?
31:31Mark, we already did the flashback.
31:33Are you going to crank me through or what?
31:34Oh, yeah.
31:35You know, we always teach great things here on Double Dare.
31:37Watch.
31:38Now, we want this to be an educational show as well.
31:42Take the microphone, and you tell them how to brush their teeth,
31:44and I'll just follow the instructions here, all right?
31:46Now, what do we do?
31:48Let's put the...
31:49Okay, what do we do?
31:50All right, make sure you go from gum to gum.
31:52Gum to gum.
31:53Up and down.
31:53Up and down.
31:5450 times.
31:5550 times?
31:56Okay, we'll be back in just a little bit, folks,
31:58but just up and down.
31:59Am I doing it the right way there, huh?
32:00Okay, thanks very much.
32:01Nurse Joan, ladies and gentlemen, give her a round of applause.
32:03Just like that.
32:04Just brush off those 50 times up and down, gum to gum,
32:08and once this will be out of the way, you can lift this mouth up.
32:11And you know what, audience?
32:12I think Mark's hair looks just a tiny bit soiled.
32:15Don't you think he could use a shampoo today?
32:17Isn't it so?
32:17I think so.
32:19Maybe just a little shampoo.
32:20Oh, my.
32:22All right, just do him up real quick.
32:24Get to clean.
32:25Wall turn you green.
32:26Thank you so much, Harvey.
32:27I really appreciate that.
32:28That's...
32:29Okay.
32:30Now, this is one of the largest noses in North America,
32:33and we have a pimple.
32:34Harvey, what are you doing?
32:36Oh, Mark, it's our national show here.
32:39We've got a little tiny zit here on the nose.
32:41I was just trying to lance it with this needle.
32:43No, no, never with anyone.
32:44Nurse Joan, we always have a nurse on staff here at all times on the show.
32:46So give a round of applause to Nurse Joan.
32:49And let me come around to Nurse Joan around this way.
32:52Now, Harvey shouldn't lance that thing with that, should he?
32:54Absolutely not.
32:54What is the proper thing to do if you have a zit like that?
32:57Just keep it clean.
32:58That's it?
32:59Just keep it clean and let it resolve itself.
33:01And you go to a doctor and spend $45, and we just keep it clean.
33:04Right.
33:04Thank you, Nurse Joan, for that free information.
33:06Round of applause for her.
33:07Thanks, Harvey.
33:08I was hoping we could hit the mirror up there, you know?
33:11No, you can't do that.
33:12But Double Dare is more than just educational information.
33:15It's energetic contestants, exciting obstacles, lots of slop, and, of course, raw talent.
33:21Roll it.
33:21This physical challenge is dedicated to the one and only king of rock and roll, Elvis.
33:30One of you gets the supply of ping pong balls, and your partner gets to be Elvis.
33:37The object is to bounce the balls and catch them inside the guitar of Elvis.
33:44One, two, three, four.
33:46Bum bum bum, bum bum bum bum bum!
34:09Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you!
34:12Where's the Colonel?
34:13Well alright, Defoe, I think it's hard to do it myself.
34:15So you stay right where you are.
34:17We'll be back with a lot more in Appletail after this.
34:20Good-bye. Good-bye.
34:22What was the name of the character who said,
34:25D-Plane! D-Plane!
34:28And Harvey, do you happen to know the announcer on that show?
34:31The announcer on Hollywood Squares?
34:33Yeah.
34:34G's not a clue, Mark. Maybe you could remind me.
34:37His name is Shadow Stevens. You ever heard him?
34:38No, I'm dying to hear him.
34:40John Davidson! That's what he does.
34:43Okay, thank you so much.
34:45You have to put on the hat here like this, all right?
34:48And, uh, Norman!
34:49Wanna go pick some strawberries, Norman?
34:52No! Just suck face! Remember that?
34:55Hold on to that.
34:56Quick impression, Mary from the old Dick Van Dyke Show.
35:00Oh, Rob!
35:02Thank you so much. Thank you.
35:04And we're gonna do a quick rendition of
35:06There's No Business Like Show Business. Ready?
35:07One, two, three.
35:09There's no business like show business
35:12like show business I know!
35:14Oh, very good!
35:16Oh, my God!
35:19Wild out there, boys!
35:20Wild out there!
35:23It's a little Bob Hope there.
35:24It's wild out there.
35:25$10 question over here for the Misfits, I had to tell you
35:27because otherwise you'd never know.
35:29You can blame me for bad impressions.
35:31Like, you take the chicken at 350 degrees!
35:34See, they're so bad sometimes I don't even know who I'm doing.
35:37But you can't blame me for some of the things I'm made to do.
35:41It should be rather interesting.
35:42Am I allowed to take this hat off now or should I do it?
35:44No, I gotta keep it on the whole show.
35:45It says that in my contract.
35:46You gotta read the fine print, folks.
35:47Oh, yeah.
35:47Now, wait a minute.
35:48Harvey, did you say if they win the course, they get to put a pie in my face?
35:51If they're grand prize winners, they get to put a pie in the face of Mark Summers.
35:54All right, I'll make a deal.
35:55Wait a minute.
35:56Hold on here.
35:57If they lose, they get to put a pie in your face, Harvey.
36:01All right?
36:01All right.
36:06Fair enough.
36:06All right.
36:07Can't lose either way.
36:08What'd you say?
36:09Let's go for Mark.
36:10Thank you so much.
36:10All right.
36:1160 seconds or less.
36:12I want to see you win this.
36:13On your mark.
36:14Get set.
36:14Go!
36:15Walk around there.
36:16Keep going.
36:16Don't stop.
36:17Keep going.
36:17Keep going.
36:18You can stop right there.
36:20Stop right there.
36:21Here it comes.
36:21And we are in over here at obstacle number two.
36:23And there is 52 seconds.
36:25Is it gonna be Harvey or is it gonna be me?
36:26Keep going.
36:27Don't stop.
36:27You're doing a great job.
36:28We are down to 47 seconds.
36:30Obstacle number three is the wall climb.
36:31And you go over here to the wall climb now.
36:32There it is.
36:33Okay, grab that flag.
36:34And we are down to 40 seconds.
36:36I think Harvey's in trouble.
36:37Grab that flag and pass it over to your partner.
36:38Pass it over.
36:39Okay, obstacle number four is over here.
36:41Over here in the granny's attic.
36:42Over four here.
36:43All right.
36:44Lift it up and find out what's inside there.
36:45See if you can find the flag.
36:47Throw it up.
36:47See if you can find it everywhere.
36:49See if there it is.
36:49Over here at obstacle number five is the tire swing.
36:51We have 25 seconds left.
36:52Grab on top and let's see if we can make it.
36:54All the way.
36:55Drop down.
36:55Drop down.
36:56Grab the flag.
36:57Grab the flag.
36:57Pass it over here.
36:58And it's time to go to desert flag obstacle number six.
37:00And it's down to 15 seconds.
37:01I think Harvey should be real worried.
37:03There it is.
37:03Grab it over there.
37:04All right.
37:04Down to 11 seconds.
37:05Are they going to do it?
37:06Grab inside here.
37:07All right.
37:07Nine, eight, seven.
37:09There it is.
37:11Pass it over here.
37:11Over here.
37:12In here.
37:13Go!
37:14Go!
37:15Go!
37:17Yes!
37:18Yes!
37:19Yes!
37:19Yes!
37:19Yes!
37:19Yes!
37:20Yes!
37:21Yes!
37:22Yes!
37:22We've got no time left.
37:23Listen closely.
37:24Harvey's going to tell you everything that you've won.
37:25Mark, they get the GE sidesteps.
37:27The video show tapes.
37:28The Nintendo games.
37:29The Bushnell products.
37:29The bike.
37:30The Toys R Us.
37:30The 19-inch TV.
37:32They're going to Space Jam.
37:33A prize package worth over $2,200 each.
37:36Okay.
37:37They did it with no time left.
37:38And we said they'd get to put a pie in my face.
37:40So here we go.
37:43Thanks for being with us here on Dumbledore.
37:45We'll see you again soon.
37:46Bye-bye!
37:47You messed everything else up.
37:48This is all that's left.
37:50I've got to wear that?
37:51Yeah.
37:53Okay.
37:55Thanks.
37:55I don't...
37:59Yeah, I've never tried this one.
38:05Thanks, Carla.
38:06Carla.
38:08Hold on.
38:09Hold on.
38:10Excuse me, but I didn't prompt this.
38:12What did you say?
38:13You look like Elvis.
38:14Thank you so much.
38:18Thank you very much.
38:19Okay.
38:19Hey.
38:20Oh, baby.
38:21Ooh, I like this.
38:22As you can see on Dumbledore, anything can happen.
38:25Those things were planned, but these were not.
38:30The tank is coming up, and that's obstacle number two.
38:32And once you pass that flag, we're going to come all the way over here.
38:35And it looks like...
38:36Oh, look at this.
38:36We have a little person here who's rowing, trying to get through these little monster islands
38:40there.
38:40Look at him.
38:41And look, if you turn around, he's got a little Dumbledore thing on there.
38:44And it is Dumbledore, so let's just put him right down there.
38:47Help me!
38:49There he goes, slowly but surely.
38:50And he doesn't want to sink.
38:51He's trying to get out.
38:53Well, there he goes.
38:53The heck with him.
38:54Anyways, dive in there.
38:58Help me!
39:02He's bobbing up and down.
39:04Grab the flag peasant and win this.
39:07This is Robin, and Robin is just such a good sport.
39:10We call her the Bean Sprout Kid.
39:11And this next one is called Kid Watch.
39:13Turn it on, folks.
39:14Oh, Mark.
39:15And Robin's going to demonstrate it for us.
39:17John, can you turn it on for us?
39:18Good.
39:18Just walk right on through there and explain to these nice kids here how to win this option.
39:22Turn it on, John.
39:23Come on.
39:23Can you get on?
39:24You can't get it on all the way?
39:25Oh, okay.
39:26We'll just kind of walk through it anyway and kind of...
39:27Oh, wait a minute.
39:28I see why.
39:28We need to connect it over there.
39:30Oh, what a great guy you are.
39:31Well, what you have to do, actually, is go through the water and then through the...
39:34Go ahead.
39:35You can do it.
39:35There you go.
39:36Perfect timing.
39:37Come on, Robin.
39:37You can get through there.
39:38Come on, audience.
39:39Let's cheer her on.
39:40Grab the flag.
39:40It's obstacle number four.
39:42Here he is again, folks.
39:45Trying to get up there.
39:50Dive through.
39:51Grab the flag.
39:52Get with it.
39:53We are constantly talking about the folks who work in the booth, our producer-director,
39:57Michael Klinghoffer.
39:57So let's take a quick little walk over there and see what it looks.
40:00We have a few seconds.
40:01Come right through the magical doors here of the station where we taped this program,
40:05and you will find in the booth, this is where all the guts of the station is.
40:10Over here.
40:10This is Steve.
40:10And over here, this is Dana.
40:12We have the famous Michael over here, the three men in charge, and all these nice folks.
40:15Give them a round of applause.
40:16Take two.
40:17Take one.
40:18Take three.
40:18Okay.
40:19Hey.
40:22Are you all right, Mark?
40:24Okay.
40:25We're on the...
40:30We're on the blue plate special.
40:32It's number six.
40:34You've got to find the flag somewhere underneath that sauce.
40:37Oh, this poor guy is slowing down.
40:39We will be back with lots more, Double Dare.
40:40Right after...
40:49Okay.
40:50Obstacle number eight.
40:51Let's come over here.
40:51We'll find behind curtain number one.
40:53We have Carol Merrill.
40:54All right.
40:54Right over there.
40:56That's Manny back there.
40:58Okay.
40:58Come up here on this particular...
41:02There's the guy with the boat.
41:03Get across.
41:04Grab the flag.
41:04Do it in 60 seconds.
41:07Well, that's about it.
41:08Thanks, Harv.
41:08Thanks for helping me out on this.
41:09Hey, a lot of fun, and I'm so glad we got some fun.
41:11I can't go through this tape without showing that silly obstacle course.
41:13Oh, thanks for reminding me.
41:15Well, you've got to see it.
41:16We've been talking about it this entire time.
41:18What happened?
41:18A bunch of us were just fooling around on the obstacle course one day.
41:21They were rolling tape, and, well, you be the judge.
41:24And we're looking right at the beginning there.
41:27Here goes the Sunday slot.
41:28Look how fast.
41:29Probably record time, don't you think, Harvey?
41:30That is amazing, Mark.
41:32Oh, look at this form.
41:33Woo-hoo!
41:33Right on his boombosity.
41:34Isn't that nice?
41:35No flags.
41:36We just have to tag you, and you're...
41:37Are we dancing or tagging?
41:38What is that?
41:38You're looking reluctant to go in there.
41:40All right.
41:41Is there any wonder?
41:41Look at that.
41:42Here I go over to the icy track.
41:43I'm really quick.
41:44Now, you have to go to the tank.
41:45There's an egg.
41:45Somebody's throwing eggs at you, Mark.
41:47All right.
41:48The tag's made, and now it's on into the tank.
41:50Ooh!
41:50Very nice.
41:51Now, I get to go to the slime canal, but I think we're going to miss it because...
41:53Look at the way I slide down those toad steels.
41:55Ooh, that's nice.
41:56And here is Granny's attic.
41:57This is for you and a surprise by Dave there.
41:59Aw, a close personal friend of mine, Dave.
42:01Yeah.
42:01Now, we're a little confused.
42:02What are we doing?
42:03It's me on the tire swing, and...
42:06Now, watch this cheat move.
42:07Right there, kids.
42:08Whoa!
42:09Well, all we have to do is tag the glove, and we already are down to just 52 seconds.
42:14Touch it!
42:15Look at that, Harvey.
42:16We did it in 10 seconds.
42:18Mark, I believe they set the clock at 99, if you'll remember.
42:20Oh, that's right.
42:21And here's one other tip.
42:22This is how you get clean after the obstacle course.
42:24Boom!
42:24Just like that.
42:29So, here's some final inside slop about hosting Double Dare.
42:33First, always know what show you're doing.
42:35It's tea time on our magazine.
42:37Well, it's a little bit past tea time, but that's okay.
42:40On our...
42:40Did I say our...
42:41I'm telling you, I'm gone.
42:42I am absolutely gone.
42:43I have to go back and do that again.
42:44I told you.
42:45My mind is not here.
42:46Always maintain your composure.
42:49All right.
42:50We are at obstacle number five.
42:52Earn the respect of those you work with.
42:55We're going to come back with a $40 toss.
43:05And remember, if you're ever looking for a way to end a show, always find something to jump into.
43:11Thank you for being with us on Double Dare.
43:13We'll see you again.
43:18Mark.
43:19Yeah?
43:19We need a big finish here.
43:23Yeah!
43:27Yeah!
43:32Yeah!
43:33Yeah!
43:37Yeah.
43:58It's a regular move.
43:59Oh yeah!
44:02You're beautiful.
44:03The
