00:00and right now it's time for some baseball nuggets
00:08and let's start with bryce eldridge bryce eldridge at 21 years old is the youngest
00:16player in mlb history to hit a walk-off grand slam did it yesterday for the giants the previous
00:23youngest was roberto clemente who did it with a inside the park walk-off grand slam in 1956
00:32which sounds like the craziest play ever two things a turns out roberto clemente was pretty
00:39good at baseball um he was uh other thing kevin is years ago when we were on nights a tolo
00:45brought
00:46up actually it was right when we got on days a tolo brought up to me a roberto clemente stamp
00:52uh yeah and i still have that he was like it will be safer with you than me and i
00:58was like okay and
00:59i still have that thing to this day see if i were that guy i would worry that you would
01:03mail him a
01:03thank you note with that stamp on it so i'm glad that you did not okay i gotta can i
01:10ask you a
01:10couple questions about stamps real quick sure i don't know if i'm so my oldest is uh he just
01:17graduated and he is sending all the thank you letters out to everybody right and uh the other
01:22day he was like i was like did they not teach you how to how to do the envelope of
01:27a thank you letter
01:28and then he was like do the all the stamps have to go in the same spot and we were
01:32like yes upper
01:32right hand corner and he goes can they go upside down and i was like i don't know the answer
01:37to that
01:38question other than it doesn't look cool so if you're sending to clients maybe clients don't want
01:43them upside down if i think you're like an anarchist or something they're like i might not
01:47open yeah so what do you know about stamps uh i don't i actually don't know it feels like you
01:53should
01:54still be able to mail it even if it's upside down but one year i actually don't know the answer
01:58to
01:58that one year adrian uh did all of her dad's envelopes for all of his clients and she put all
02:04the stamps on upside down and he made her redo it all oh i thought you were okay man he
02:10was like
02:10well got to go buy more stamps well then i could see why she would be like no they need
02:14to be right
02:15side up because she's still uh she's still thinking about that so a couple of notes for
02:21the rangers why langford gets on base yet again i believe that is now 16 straight games in which
02:28he has been on base josh young has a hit in seven straight games hey uh by the way we're
02:34going to be
02:35out at the june 18th that's what we're doing our giveaway for too yeah we're we're going to be out
02:40there for that game and that is the uh sleeveless ian kinsler jersey day and i think i need to
02:47figure
02:47out how to get one of those suckers because tank top tuesday's been rocking i'm gonna have to ask
02:52somebody uh but tank top tuesday will be rocking for that and me and alec you know representing tank
02:56top tuesday i think sleeveless ian kinsler jersey is the way to go see and what better bit of corporate
03:02synergy than the fact that we are also giving away a four pack of tickets for that game you know
03:07what i mean today yeah you know we'll do it in the 11 o'clock hour sounds good to me
03:11about that i love
03:11it now let's talk about the texas rangers i want to make it clear i did not write this article
03:17but i
03:18want to get your thoughts on it mlb.com had an article up talking about the eight players who might
03:24need a
03:24change of scenery one of the people on that list jake berger now obviously jake berger yesterday we
03:30already played the highlight but if you look back at it but with the white socks and the marlins in
03:362023 and 2024 berger hit 63 home runs he also had 51 doubles and an ops of 793 since he
03:47got to the
03:47rangers that first season 16 home runs 15 doubles 687 ops so already a big drop before last night's
03:57game 10 home runs 63 games 705 ops and he doesn't walk we've talked about that i mean i know
04:03he's
04:03gotten one he's up there trying to hit the ball exactly hit it far he has a 290 on base
04:09percentage
04:10the second straight year he's been below 300 obviously the two seasons with the texas rangers
04:15he's not an expensive player makes 3.2 million dollars arbitration eligible the next two years
04:22do you wonder if this is a player whether it's because of the rangers general hitting philosophy
04:28his struggles or whatever that would be well suited by a change of team i so that sounds more like
04:37a
04:37it's better for the team than it is for the player uh sure because he's already had a change of
04:43scenery
04:43and leaving miami and coming here so that's already it's gone worse for him yeah so that so that's
04:48the change of scenery idea like sometimes they say that and it's the idea of look this will be good
04:54for both i don't know that it would be good for him i think he is he has found a
04:58community here
04:59like personally this is a personal situation i think he's found a community here that really supports
05:04and loves him i think yeah i think there's i think he's a great teammate i think he's uh you
05:09know
05:09involved in in what this team is and kevin we always go back to the moment we saw all of
05:15his teammates
05:16signing and autographing making sure they autograph this correctly for the blanket for his daughter
05:21uh so i don't think it's a change of scenery benefiting him as much as it is it might be
05:27benefiting the team but i just like the return for that i don't know exactly what it is i i'm
05:32just
05:32hoping kevin i'm going to say i would rather see him stick around and figure it out here is it
05:39and it's unfortunate that it can be the cold hard business of sports or really anything i don't
05:47think it's left to just sports where you hate to say it but you're kind of like i mean that's
05:52unfortunate if it's not best for him but that's not really the primary concern right but again change
05:57scenery is for for this for me uh i'm i'm not willing to do that quite yet okay i want
06:05him to i want
06:05him to figure it out here okay all right and dude you know like you know that jock confidence that
06:10he
06:10has right now yeah that he's he's looked at there are certain hitters there it josh young looks like
06:15he has this confidence i think evan carter's looking like he's about to find it i'm hopeful that he does
06:20man i am too but like that that that confidence that i want to see from burger we saw it
06:26earlier in
06:26the season and then somewhere it left find it back dude now a couple of other notes for you
06:32terek scoobal will be back pitching for the big club for the tigers against the guardians on
06:38saturday great in other pitching great good thing for the league i guess yes the dodgers can scout
06:44so max scherzer surpassed 3500 career strikeouts he was at i believe 3499 going into the game last
06:55night he now has 3503 that puts him 11th all time he is 12 away from tying walter johnson to
07:04move into
07:05the top 10 that dude has pitched for 65 years right and he has not caught nolan yet i feel
07:12confident
07:12no one will ever catch no one why is that uh because of the more limited uh innings pitched and
07:19everything
07:19like no one's ever going to catch the complete game record or shutout record or wins or i think
07:25cy young has like 511 wins or something absurd and then nolan ryan look randy johnson was almost a
07:32thousand away from him he second yeah and randy johnson dropped a bird in a spring training game i bet
07:39nolan would be like i could drop a bird yeah yeah roger clemens used steroids and he's more than a
07:45thousand behind nolan ryan nolan ryan's like that's fine give me the ball i just got off my tractor i'm
07:50ready to throw 14 innings so you're never going to get anybody close to that number again yeah and you
07:57know what would happen too is if somebody did get close nolan would just step out there and strike
08:02somebody else out to be one strikeout ahead of you know what i want to say that's absurd i can't
08:08rule
08:09out that's how the legend will always live in my mind pop a couple of advil go out there and
08:14get the
08:15two more strikeouts he needed to reflip the lead i can't rule that out that's fair now let's talk
08:20about shohei otani shohei otani's era has skyrocketed all the way up to 1.06 gross it is finally above
08:29one
08:30now is it it was a tough night for shohei his pitching was birds of tough team i mean they're
08:37above 500 so it was a tough night for shohei in terms of he pitched fine but fine for him
08:43is like
08:43disappointing three and run six and two thirds his era is now 1.06 it went up to reach 1
08:49.06 but
08:50he also had a home run robbed from him at the wall and his team lost nine to eight so
08:55it's just the
08:56trifecta of crap things that happened for him last night but still he has an era of 1.06 and
09:03the
09:03dodgers are 18 games above 500 so and they're about to you know trade for tarik skuble so they'll
09:09probably be okay yeah good for him yeah good for all the dodgers especially that rotate that's
09:14death dude it's terrifying and uh and it's not fair but it's also it is fair because that's what the
09:19market allows they're gonna make tarik skuble their setup man yeah so basically all we're trying to
09:24figure out is who's playing the world series against the dodgers at this point the rangers
09:30i like it i mean not really but what do you mean we could get hot at any time dude
09:35all right well
09:35you don't get to 500 first look man this happened today that is uh that's listen are we still in
09:42the hunt are we still in the hunt for the playoffs we are still in what is the problem with
09:46500 all
09:47right um you don't have to be 500 to get in the playoffs i don't think that is no you
09:52don't that
09:53it's true especially not in this american league yeah
