The recent rain brought the crowds in with a yard record at the Blackall saleyards.

00:00You've got a bit of mud on you today, Beau.
00:02Yeah, it's been a pretty wet day today.
00:04It started raining here about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon,
00:07and it rained all through the night.
00:09It's between sort of an inch and 40-odd mills around locally in Buckle.
00:14I suppose it made it hard, especially if you had a big yarding,
00:17but probably it was good for the result.
00:19Yeah, it definitely was.
00:21Everything here was definitely stronger today.
00:23Bull job was very, very firm,
00:25out to sort of 458 cents, I think, which is a record year.
00:30We had a bull here make over $5,000 a day,
00:32which is pretty incredible.
00:33What do you put that down to?
00:34Probably short supply through the feedlots at the moment,
00:37and blind demand.
00:37That's what it is, and the cattle are here in the north,
00:39and there's been such a big exercise in the south there over,
00:44really since January down in northern New South Wales
00:48and central New South Wales.
00:50They were selling huge numbers of cattle there
00:53right through to May,
00:55and then they've got this beautiful bit of rain down there now,
00:58and they're going strong,
00:59and they're wanting cattle,
00:59and the feedlotters are actually competing against the people
01:02putting them back in the paddock,
01:03so it's a great thing to happen.
01:05Yeah, I got asked to judge this morning.
01:07It was an absolute pleasure.
01:08It was genuinely very difficult.
01:10I had a mob of feeder steers in first place,
01:13and then I walked back and forth
01:15and actually had to change that around,
01:17and they were that tight and that close.
01:19And there's even people here today that'll miss out on a ribbon,
01:21and the cattle are just sensational,
01:23so it's a tricky job,
01:26especially when you do know some of the vendors.
01:28Excellent yarding of cattle, of course.
01:31The Blackwell area's always been renowned for the cherry red Santa cattle,
01:36and today justified that fact.
01:39We'll continue as well.
01:40Theores but not those on our improv,
01:41no Precisai ever had a ball each other,
01:41but that's not funny.
01:41You'll spend a second time with cattle my razor's hair.
01:41It's gonna bite you too.
01:42And this is new.
01:42It was the last time that the property may be planted.
01:42Everything comes from something like that,
01:42you will turn up corners and you'll see a dinner.
01:42you're going to give an ap goal unless you've got pictures.
01:42You
