00:00When I hear the Ivory Coast International Rantel, I get goosebumps.
00:04For me, that's a no-brainer.
00:06I cannot think twice and say, okay, am I aware of which team I'll do?
00:09I go to Ivory Coast.
00:10We have a very special guest and a donor today.
00:15The legend himself.
00:1817 major trophies, including the Champions League with my favorite club, Chelsea FC.
00:25Four Premier League titles.
00:27A hero in his country, a Côte d'Ivoire.
00:30A man that a lot of people honestly look up to.
00:34A man that has committed a lot of time to humanitarian efforts as well.
00:38Right.
00:39Was it something very close to my heart?
00:41No.
00:41So, I appreciate you for being here.
00:44We appreciate you for being here.
00:46Welcome to Europe.
00:49Yeah.
00:50What do you remember about football in Abidjan and some of the early days?
00:54I'm Bonnie and Ivory Coast.
00:55I left the country when I was six years old to go to France and live with my uncle.
01:01And then I came back at age nine.
01:04And I think obviously I was more aware of everything.
01:07And that's when I started playing in the streets with my neighborhood, with my friends and barefoot and small goals,
01:20a bit like the Thoma tournament.
01:21And we would, I actually would use a bottle to organize tournaments.
01:28And we would use a bottle, a plastic bottle at the time as a trophy.
01:33I want to talk briefly as well about your international career, if we may.
01:38Obviously, you chose to play for Côte d'Ivoire.
01:40But you also had the opportunity to play for France.
01:44I'd love to hear a little bit about that decision making and why you ultimately chose Côte d'Ivoire instead
01:49of France.
01:50I left Ivory Coast when I was six, like I told you, and I'm always going to be grateful to
01:55France.
01:56And I'm French also, I have a double nationality.
02:00And when France plays, I should pause France, you know.
02:04But when I hear the Ivory Coast international anthem, I get goosebumps.
02:11And for me, that's a no-brainer.
02:14I cannot think twice and say, okay, I might wear a rouge team up.
02:17No, I go to Ivory Coast.
02:18This is where, in my country, they say this is where they bury my, you know, my, how do you
02:23say, how do you call it?
02:41I don't know about all that, but I understand, I understand.
02:59You're welcome.
