00:00The Xiaomi 17T Pro is here and it's being advertised as the telephoto master, so I took
00:04the new phone to Vienna to put that claim to the test. Both the 17T and 17T Pro come with
00:09a 50
00:09megapixel 5x zoom camera which is backed up by Leica's signature colour science and optical
00:13tuning. And as you can see from these pictures, the results you can achieve are as good as anything
00:16you'll get on the flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra. I use Leica's authentic style which is designed to
00:21deliver natural, true-to-life colours without veering into the artificial. And the 17T Pro
00:25does a great job of capturing realistic details at this 5x range. 5x is also further than the
00:29optical zoom range you'll get on flagships like the iPhone 17 Pro and OnePlus 15, so kudos to Xiaomi
00:34for sticking with that distance in this year's top-end T-series model. The 17T Pro also offers
00:38an optical quality 10x zoom, and while this centre crop won't get you the same level of detail as a
00:42true 5x zoom, the photos I captured at 10x were still very much usable. Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi's
00:48120x AI Ultra Zoom is basically unusable at that maximum distance, but it's nice to have the option
00:53of going well beyond 10x if you're particularly far away from your subject. All told then, the Xiaomi 17T
00:57Pro is a supremely capable zoom shooter and a great value rival to pricier camera phones that offer
01:02similar levels of performance. Have a question? Let us know in the comments below, or better yet,
