00:08Fable is a beautiful open-world action RPG, packed with drama, jeopardy and high-stakes
00:14choices that change the world.
00:17But at the heart of Fable is a game within a game.
00:21An endless interconnected life sim where you'll be remembered for changing people's lives,
00:25building property empires, manipulating the economic fate of entire settlements, and more.
00:33And as you do all this, you'll build different identities and experience a complex, nuanced
00:38morality that is so much more than good versus evil.
00:43It's what you'll do in Fable when you aren't saving the world, and we call it Building
00:48an Extraordinary Life.
00:51Let's dive in.
00:56Here I am in the middle of Oakshire, one of the six regions in our visually diverse
01:01open world.
01:02It's characterised by beautiful rolling hills and lush colourful foliage, inspired by the
01:08British countryside.
01:10There are settlements of different sizes throughout the world, each with their own population,
01:15traits and landmarks.
01:17Albion is full of variety.
01:20We can see one of those settlements up ahead.
01:24Silverbrook, a peaceful farming town, and the largest settlement in Oakshire.
01:40Silverbrook is all about farming, so it has an almost unhealthy obsession with vegetables,
01:44which can be seen in every detail of the environment.
01:50It's in how the villagers have decorated their houses, their shops and their streets.
01:57It's even in how they dress their scarecrows.
02:01When I enter a settlement, I quickly run into the beating heart of Albion.
02:06It's people.
02:08There are over 1,000 handcrafted, fully voiced NPCs, each one with their own job, home, routine,
02:16relationships and memory.
02:19None of these villagers are scripted dressing.
02:21They have emergent behaviour powered by real-time systems.
02:25They go to work.
02:27They go to bed.
02:28They have hobbies and families.
02:30Sometimes, they just want to spend time in the pub.
02:33Albion feels alive because its people have lives.
02:38I've never been to Silverbrook, and because I've done nothing of note yet, Max the stable
02:44hand here is completely indifferent to me.
02:47Got a minute.
02:48What do you want then?
02:50So, if I ask him to follow me…
02:53Follow me.
02:54I don't deal with randos.
02:55He won't.
02:56And he thought I was weird.
02:59That's fair.
03:00Right then.
03:02Bye.
03:02There you go.
03:03I guess.
03:10In the story, I'm here investigating if there's a connection between Isabel, the powerful
03:16red-cloaked hero I'm pursuing, and the strange magical incidents being reported in Silverbrook.
03:21Is that a hero?
03:23Oi.
03:24Is that a hero?
03:25I've heard something about giant vegetables and a hero, called Arden, who lives nearby.
03:29Maybe they could help me find Isabel.
03:32And it seems there's a bit of a commotion in the town square.
03:35Let's see what's going on.
03:36Someone needs to tell this little brat what's what.
03:42Now, Hero, can you do me a favour and get this bloody kid away from me?
03:46No!
03:47I won't let you kill Colin.
03:49Hero!
03:51You have to stop him.
03:53Look, kid, I'm a butcher, and Colin's just a pig.
03:58Do I need to spell it out?
03:59But I'm not like all the other pigs, am I, John?
04:04Oh, look, I am not having this conversation with you again, Colin.
04:08Did I just understand that pig?
04:12Oh, the novelty wears off after a bit, trust me.
04:15Colin's special.
04:17Please.
04:19We can eat something else at this little travel feast.
04:22Well done, you.
04:23People are expecting a hog rose kid, and I've been preparing Colin...
04:27This pig for ages.
04:30But I've only just learned to communicate.
04:33Who knows what else I could achieve?
04:35I've got potential, Hero.
04:38Don't let me end up on a spit.
04:40Please.
04:43Well, this certainly qualifies as a magical incident.
04:47What you're seeing here is not a cinematic.
04:50It's just one of the hundreds of story conversations in our game.
04:55We have over two hours of high-quality, performance-captured cinematics,
04:59just like the ones you've seen in our trailers.
05:01But in these conversations, you'll make hundreds of branching dialogue choices
05:06that change what happens and how people feel about you.
05:10It's important to note that every choice has a consequence.
05:14It's up to me if Colin lives or dies.
05:17And I think he should live.
05:19I mean, come on.
05:20He's a talking pig.
05:22Let the pig live.
05:23Yes!
05:24Thanks, Hero.
05:25I knew you'd understand.
05:27No hard feelings, John.
05:29You don't make the decisions here.
05:31This is my pig bought and paid for.
05:36I can see his point, so I'm going to pay the butcher.
05:40What's the pig worth to you?
05:42I'll cover it.
05:43It's not just a pig.
05:45It's provisions, labour, faff.
05:47We're talking thousands.
05:51Two thousand gold.
05:53That seems pretty steep.
05:56Alright, Colin's worth it.
05:58Here.
05:59This should cover your expenses.
06:01Fine.
06:02Those rumours about Dave's veg better be true.
06:05Feast going vegan this year.
06:08Hero!
06:09You saved Colin!
06:10Mum gave me these, but I think you deserve them more.
06:15Thanks.
06:15Maybe you could help me back.
06:17The Guild sent me.
06:18There's been reports of strange things happening around here.
06:22Like what?
06:24Erm...
06:25Who's in charge around here?
06:28And where's Arden, the hero?
06:30Arden doesn't really come around here anymore.
06:33You should try the Sheriff.
06:35His office is nearby.
06:37Come on, Colin.
06:38Let's go.
06:42I've spared Colin's life.
06:44I've also gained reputations as virtuous and shrewd.
06:48In Fable, every action generates local reputation.
06:52You'll eventually be known for the reputations you build.
06:56And everyone will judge you on their own moral terms.
06:59Often directly.
07:04And this is at the centre of our complex, nuanced take on morality.
07:09Evolving beyond just right and wrong.
07:12It reflects real life, where morality is multifaceted and subjective.
07:17One person's good is another person's evil.
07:22Even being merciful will divide opinion.
07:26Let's chat to some other folks and see what they think about me.
07:29Hello there.
07:30Hey, you're that hero.
07:33This is Jack the Beggar.
07:34He's a commoner who's unemployed right now.
07:37Which is a shame, given he's a hard-working sort of person.
07:41On the right is how he feels about me.
07:43Jack likes my virtuous reputation and thinks I'm principled.
07:47Other NPCs might feel differently about my choices,
07:50because each has their own moral view on the choices you make.
07:54There are lots of ways to interact with NPCs.
07:57I'm going to give some gold to Jack, because he seems nice.
08:00And he's a bit down on his luck.
08:02For you.
08:04I hope it helps.
08:05This is going straight in my pocket.
08:07Cheers.
08:09He was grateful for that.
08:10And he felt I was being kind.
08:13Let's give him a bit more.
08:16Here.
08:18Don't spend it all at once.
08:20This takes the edge off.
08:25That made an impact.
08:27I've gained a reputation for being kind,
08:29and I'm known for it across Silverbrook.
08:32Everything you do has a consequence.
08:35Let's leave Jack.
08:37So long.
08:37You're like a breath of fresh air, you know?
08:43I do like Jack, though.
08:46Maybe I should buy him a gift.
08:48There are lots of shops with different stock across Albion.
08:52Let's go to the general store across the street
08:54to see what they have.
08:58Every business has NPCs working in them
09:00as part of their daily life.
09:04Just like Megan here.
09:06This is some quality stuff.
09:08Welcome, Hero.
09:09What can I do for you?
09:14Doing my deal to save Colin gave me a shrewd reputation,
09:18and Megan here is a fan.
09:20She's an ambitious commoner,
09:22and she thinks I'm savvy because of my earlier deal-making.
09:27Every NPC has unique characteristics driving who they are
09:31and what they think of you.
09:33You know what?
09:34Forget Jack.
09:35He's dead to me.
09:37I'm going to try flirting with Megan.
09:40Phew.
09:41Is it hot around here, or is it just you?
09:44Well, aren't you confident?
09:46Between you and me, I've always wanted to swoon.
09:52That went well.
09:54Megan thinks I'm charming and flirty,
09:56and have started to build a reputation for it in Silverbrook.
10:00Let's ask her out on a date.
10:02Do you want to grab a drink or something?
10:04Would you believe you're almost what I'm looking for?
10:08Clearly she's interested,
10:10but I'm not worthy of her time just yet.
10:14She wants to date an entrepreneur who owns their own home,
10:17and only wears fancy clothes.
10:19They're high standards.
10:21She is ambitious after all.
10:25All right, I'm invested in taking Megan on a date.
10:28Let's go.
10:30I'll be back, I'm sure.
10:32You have a smashing day.
10:36First, I'll need to buy a business
10:37to get a reputation as an entrepreneur.
10:41In Fable, I can literally buy any business.
10:44I could buy that bakery across the street,
10:47or around the corner, I could buy one of the stalls.
10:53But you know what?
10:54I think I like the pub, the silver trough.
10:59It's simple to buy a property.
11:02Interact with the deed outside the front door
11:04to see income, price, and the number of people employed there.
11:07To be honest, I've always wanted to own a pub.
11:10So let's buy it.
11:14Maybe this is the start of my business empire.
11:19I'm a proud new pub owner.
11:21Now I can set prices and wages,
11:23and I can manage the staff.
11:26Every villager performs differently.
11:29Here, Susan the bartender is great with customers
11:32because she's caring.
11:33And that's giving my pub an income boost of 10%.
11:36Thanks, Susan.
11:38The pub's understaffed, though.
11:40As the new owner, I should probably sort that out.
11:43And guess what?
11:44I know just the hardworking fellow.
11:50Let's go back to Jack the Beggar.
12:03I've also gained reputations as an entrepreneur and as rich
12:06because I bought the pub and it cost me a ton of gold.
12:18Jack, you're no longer dead to me.
12:21Hi there.
12:22Hi, you.
12:25Jack still likes me for my kindness earlier.
12:27But I like that Jack is hardworking.
12:29So I'm going to give him a job in my pub.
12:35Got a job, if you're interested.
12:37I can probably do that, yeah.
12:40I can hire anyone, providing they like me enough
12:44to accept my job offer.
12:49Great.
12:50Jack is thankful I've made a positive impact on his life.
12:53He's no longer a beggar and he's now a bartender.
12:57Cheers.
12:58Thanks, Hans.
12:59There are so many other people to talk to.
13:01Villagers react to the reputations you build.
13:05And they remember the things you do to them.
13:09Now the pub is fully staffed and Jack can head off to work.
13:15Take your time, Jack.
13:20Next I need some fancy clothes.
13:23Let's head to the tailor.
13:24What a cheeky chava.
13:26There are lots of places I can update my look.
13:29Tailors, hairdressers, tattooists.
13:31And every settlement has different options available.
13:35There are rare outfits to discover in the more dangerous parts of Albion too.
13:39There are tons of options to create a unique look for your hero.
13:50This place looks fancy.
13:51Let's head inside.
13:58This is the tailor, Rhiannon.
14:01So much choice on offer.
14:03We're closing soon.
14:06Just like real life, wealth is a divisive topic.
14:09And Rhiannon has her own views.
14:12In stark contrast to the ambitious Megan, she's very much not a fan of rich entrepreneurs.
14:17And she thinks I'm out of touch.
14:19Which makes sense, given she's humble.
14:23Let's have a look at what she's selling.
14:25Fancy clothes, hopefully.
14:27Can I see your stuff?
14:28Don't waste my time.
14:32Rhiannon's jacking up the prices by 80% just for me.
14:35Looking closer reveals why.
14:37That's just how much she hates me.
14:40This is just one example of where your choices ripple through all the interconnected systems.
14:46And here I've got her character customiser.
14:49I'm free at any time to find a wardrobe and change a bunch of different things about myself.
14:54I can change my skin tone, body, head, hair and lots more.
15:00In the tailor, I can only buy clothes.
15:02But there's over 120 different shops in Albion.
15:05Each with their own stock and items to buy.
15:11Let's finish my outfit with some fancy shoes.
15:24See you Rhiannon.
15:25Take care.
15:26Yeah, alright.
15:28We don't get on, but it's been a pleasure.
15:31Now I'm really looking the part.
15:33Let's check on my relationship with Megan.
15:37At any time, I can dip into property and people screens to track my loved ones.
15:42Of which there could be many.
15:43Because I can have relationships with everyone in Albion if I like.
15:47It would just take a while.
15:49While I'm here, I can see the reputation cloud on the right.
15:53It shows me what I'm known for in Silverbrook.
15:55As an entrepreneur, rich, kind, shrewd and virtuous.
16:00On a single moral scale, these reputations would be seen the same way.
16:05As absolutely good or evil.
16:07However, as we've seen with Megan and Rhiannon,
16:10Fable's morality reflects the complexity of judgement we see in the world today.
16:14Where everyone has their own moral view.
16:19The last thing left for Megan is to own a home.
16:23I'm a bit short on cash though, seeing as I paid a fortune to save Colin and bought a pub.
16:29But since I've bought it, I've been earning passive income.
16:32So let's swing by to collect it.
16:36The people of Silverbrook all have their own nuanced subjective view of who I am and what they think of
16:42me.
16:42But if I don't like my reputations in Silverbrook, I can pay the town crier to change them.
16:49I give them gold, a lot of gold, and they spread a new reputation for me.
16:54If you're rich enough, you can change what people think of you.
17:00Here I am at the Silver Trough, now under new management.
17:04Let's head inside and check in on our employees.
17:09There's Susan, my star bartender from earlier.
17:13Well aren't you a do-gooder?
17:15Hey you, working hard?
17:17Just who I wanted to see. You.
17:21Oh, she fancies me because she thinks I'm compassionate.
17:24Sorry Susan, I only have eyes for Megan.
17:28Keep at it.
17:28You and me, boss. You and me.
17:32Hey.
17:34And there's Jack. Let's say hi.
17:38How's it going?
17:39Just working. You know me.
17:42I knew you'd work out Jack.
17:44He is a hard-working commoner after all.
17:47Keep up the good work.
17:49Farewell.
17:50Things seem to be ticking over in here.
17:53So I'll head downstairs to the income chest to collect my profits.
18:00There's an income chest in every business I own and every property I live in.
18:04It means I don't have to go to each individual place and I can collect all my income from any
18:09of them.
18:15I've got a decent amount of gold now.
18:17Time to pick off the last thing on Megan's list.
18:20Owning my own property in Silverbrook.
18:25Let's go house hunting.
18:29I can buy literally any house in Albion.
18:32It would just take a while.
18:34And quite a bit of gold.
18:38But I like the look of this one.
18:41Nice garden.
18:42Rural views.
18:43Weird hairy pig statues out front.
18:46Let's have a look.
18:49Looks like I don't quite have enough money.
18:52That's a shame.
18:53But one thing I can do is pick up a shift at a job.
18:56There's a blacksmith just down the road.
18:59Hopefully I can go earn enough gold there.
19:03Going on dates, buying properties and businesses and doing jobs are all part of the interconnected fable experience.
19:11It really adds to the sense of immersion when I can take a break from saving the world to change
19:16the lives of the people around me and discover how the simulation reacts.
19:22I could play this part of the game forever and I'd never run out of systemic toys to tinker with.
19:30There's a couple of jobs to take on across Albion, but today I fancy a try at blacksmithing.
19:34It's as simple as walking up to the anvil to start a shift.
19:38No prior experience required.
19:46In the interest of time, we've reduced the time limit here.
19:49But regardless, it's a classic case of risk versus reward.
19:58I'm constantly having to balance speed versus precision while trying to earn as much as I can.
20:10I need to hit all the hotspots to complete an item, but if I manage a perfect hit, just like
20:18that, I earn a multiplier on my gold.
20:28That's a successful shift completed.
20:32I can return to the blacksmith any time to earn more gold and gain blacksmithing experience while building my reputation.
20:43I've now got just about enough gold for the house.
20:46Let's head back down the street and buy it.
20:52There are guards stationed in every settlement.
20:55They're always there to keep a watchful eye on the villagers and probably two eyes on a hero.
20:59If I get caught committing crimes, I'll find myself in trouble with the law.
21:03And that will change what people think of me.
21:15We're back. Let's buy the house.
21:22Now I'm the owner, I can hike up the rent or even make it free if I'm feeling charitable.
21:28I can manage my tenants too.
21:30I can let them stay and keep collecting the rental income, but I want to move in myself.
21:35Which gives me the choice to just chuck them out on the street or be nice and give them a
21:39bit of gold to leave.
21:42And if I chuck them out, that would cause me to be known as heartless.
21:45And I'm trying to be nice right now in case I ruin things with Megan.
21:53And now I'm free to move in.
22:01Let's look around.
22:04Home sweet home.
22:06I can buy any house in Albion.
22:08And while this one lacks some square footage, there are huge houses, even mansions I can buy throughout the game.
22:17Looks like the tenants left some stuff behind.
22:20Awful fans, apparently.
22:23Wherever I live, I have access to my income chest and wardrobe.
22:27So I can collect all my gold and change my appearance whenever I like.
22:32That was the last thing on Megan's list.
22:34Let's head back to the general store.
22:37Fable has a dynamic time of day that changes what people are doing throughout their routine.
22:42It's still the afternoon, so hopefully Megan is still working.
22:46If I'm too late, she'll be back home in bed.
22:50And there's my new pub with some customers in the beer garden.
23:01Now we're back at the general store.
23:03Let's find Megan.
23:10Just the person I wanted to see.
23:12Still interested.
23:16I've ticked off all Megan's dating goals.
23:18So now my chances of romance are much improved.
23:22Let's ask her on a date again.
23:25How about a date?
23:27A date?
23:28Oh, I'm chuffed to bits.
23:31I can offer a gift to increase my chances of a date being a good one.
23:35As tempting as my new offal is, I'm going to give Megan flowers instead.
23:40I think she'll like them more.
23:47Here we are on a date at the Silver Troth.
23:50Hope I'm getting free drinks.
24:00Looks like it went well.
24:01That was quite the date, hero.
24:03Loved it.
24:08Hey, you.
24:09Oh, hero.
24:11That date was just...
24:13Brill.
24:16Megan found me quite charming.
24:19I'd like to make things official.
24:21So I'll ask her to be in a relationship with me.
24:24So what do you say?
24:26Ready for something more?
24:28And what a lovely couple we'll make.
24:30Whatever comes next, I'm with you.
24:35It's official.
24:37That's not the end though.
24:38I could build this relationship a lot more.
24:41We could get married, which comes with its own set of goals.
24:45We could move into my house and start a family.
24:47And I can even hire her for one of my businesses.
24:51Things could go the other way too.
24:53I could break up with Megan, or divorce her in future.
24:56Or I might make choices that make her divorce me.
24:58There's lots of ways I could change her life.
25:01And she'll remember.
25:03But we've seen enough romance for now.
25:05Bye, Megan.
25:06I have to go.
25:07But you're welcome to watch me leave.
25:09You have a lovely time, sweetheart.
25:13Before we go, I've only really demonstrated what it's like being an upstanding citizen in Silverbrook.
25:19Our game is one full of contrast though.
25:22Modest.
25:23Where I decide the kind of hero I want to be.
25:27So let's briefly explore what it's like if I'm not so nice.
25:31Hi, Susan.
25:32Nose to the grindstone.
25:34Love to see you.
25:35Lovely to see you, boss.
25:39Sorry, Susan.
25:41You're fired.
25:42Yeah.
25:44You're fired.
25:46Sorry.
25:47You're gonna regret that.
25:48Swine.
25:50She's not happy about that.
25:52And she thinks I'm being heartless.
25:54But because unfable morality is subjective, and varies from person to person, not everybody will have a problem with that.
26:03There might even be someone who fancies me, because I'm heartless.
26:10Villagers also react to my physical actions.
26:13If I start firing arrows around the place, they'll start to perceive me as reckless.
26:24I can even take potshots at the locals if I want.
26:32And now I've gone too far, but I'm in the mood for a fight.
26:37Keep on falling.
26:41Keep on falling.
26:41Keep on falling.
26:46In Fable, you can express yourself with your own combat style.
26:50Combining strength, skill, and will in style-weaving combat.
26:55You choose the weapons, skills, and abilities you want to use and blend them seamlessly together.
27:16Do you know why?
27:42I'm putting up a fight, but backup will keep on coming until I leave Silverbrook.
27:49Peacefully or not.
27:52I think a tactical retreat is probably for the best.
27:58Now I have a bounty on my head which will grow with more crime.
28:01I can immediately pay it, or pay a reduced fine, if I spend long enough out of town.
28:07My reputations don't disappear with my bounty though.
28:10Once I'm known as a killer and a criminal, it'll stick with me until I put in the work to
28:15change what people think.
28:16Or until I've made an expensive visit to the town crier.
28:19Because the people in Albion remember what you do.
28:31Over the past 25 minutes or so, I've bought a pub and a house, been a landlord, and changed a
28:37beggar's life.
28:39I've customised my look, saved a magic talking pig, fought the law, and I've built a relationship with just one
28:45of Albion's 1,000 handcrafted, fully voiced NPCs.
28:52And here's the reputation cloud again.
28:55I'm rich and charming because of my spending habits and my relationships.
28:58I'm also a criminal and a killer due to my reckless behaviour and fighting with the guards.
29:04Yet, I'm shrewd for saving Colin, and an entrepreneur because I bought the Silver Trough.
29:10I've built a complex, rich identity in Silverbrook, which the people there will react to through their own moral view.
29:18I'm not simply good or evil. I'm so much more than that.
29:24There are many more settlements across Albion to explore.
29:27My identity is mine to create in each one, and everyone will have their own perspective on what I do
29:33as I build an extraordinary life.
29:37Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more in-depth Fable information as we move closer to our launch.
