00:00And I get Acuna, question mark, WTH, WTF.
00:07I didn't know what you guys were talking about, right?
00:10So I'm trying to enjoy a moment, right?
00:13No, you're an emo cowgirl, and the rest of us are watching sports.
00:17So, you know, I get it. It's on brand. I totally get it.
00:19But also, you didn't specify what had happened.
00:24By the way, we didn't know because we were actually watching it in real time,
00:28and you were watching her. However, how it happened was he's a little bouncer to third.
00:35He's trying to run to first. He pulls up lane, grabs. He's kind of limping.
00:39He limps a long time, and on that one leg, so you didn't know what was going to happen.
00:43They come out to get him, and then he goes back.
00:45So we don't know until the bottom of the fourth. He doesn't come out.
00:50Eli White now is playing right field. So now that was like, oh, my God, what the heck?
00:54And that's all they said. C.J. Nikowski, and it was Tom Hart on the call,
00:58and they go, Ronald Acuna is, we'll have to find out what happened.
01:01And I was like, and Bo and I were right.
01:04Like, you didn't know whether, was it a knee? Was it a hammy?
01:07Was it even an ankle? Because he's kind of on the base.
01:10If you had to guess, both of you, how long he might be out,
01:14and if he's going on the aisle, what would your guess be?
01:17With a hammy, and it being, pardon me, with a hammy and it being Ronnie,
01:23I think it's an IL stint.
01:25Not only do I think it's an...
01:26He's ready by the time he gets done.
01:27He may not need, like, a rehab start or anything like that,
01:29but, you know, they're not going to take any chances with it.
01:31Right.
01:32I'm sorry you're getting emotional about it.
01:34Bo, are you okay?
01:35Your voice cracking.
01:36What's up, Peter Brady?
01:38I, not only do I think it's an IL,
01:40it's the same hamstring that he's already missed this year,
01:43so that's not good.
01:44I mean, those soft tissues, like, what is going on?
01:46Yeah, I mean, it's fascinating that a guy who's got a body
01:51that you would think is completely durable,
01:54but, again, you know, if you talk to coaches, athletes, and trainers,
01:57some guys are injury-prone and some aren't, right?
02:00You look at guys that never miss a game.
02:02Now, again, part of them are just insane.
02:04That's a guy like Brett Favre who played through everything
02:06and took every pill there was to stay on the field,
02:08but just, like, you could handle or your bones are just not as susceptible.
02:12He's had a left ACL.
02:16That was in 2018.
02:17He had a right ACL in 2021.
02:20He played in 49 games in 24, played in 95 games last year,
02:25played in 82 games in 2021.
02:29Obviously, 2020 only played in 46 games.
02:31We go win a World Series.
02:33I mean, this is the story of Ronald Acuna's career.
02:35It will be defined by a number of things.
02:38He's one of the great talents that's ever come through Atlanta,
02:41but, you know, is he Willie Mays?
02:44Well, of course he's not Willie Mays
02:45because he's not been on the field long enough
02:47to put up those kind of numbers.
02:48He's got plenty of career left,
02:50but at some point, injury-prone Ronald Acuna
02:53is a fair way to define him, is it not?
02:55Yeah, absolutely.
02:56It's not a gray area anymore.
02:57You can absolutely say that,
02:59and Ronald has to admit to himself to say that.
03:01And I don't know what the answer is.
03:02He's had the worst luck.
03:04You know, there's plays in the outfield,
03:06and he plays on the bases.
03:07It's like you have to play the game at a certain way.
03:09There's nothing yesterday, you know,
03:13that it's just he's – the dude's just running out of ball, right?
03:17So there's stress there.
03:20The other side of this is he's not having a great season.
03:24254, seven homers, 15 steals, down year for him.
03:27They need to win without him.
03:29They have won without him, most notably a World Series without him.
03:32But this is becoming a pattern, and next man up.
03:36Well, thank God for Mauricio Dubon,
03:39who again has the big hit in extra innings last night.
03:41He's just going to get more and more starts in the outfield as well.
03:44So it's Yaz and Eli White,
03:47and obviously, you know,
03:50the guys we're used to seeing out there every day.
03:55And Michael Harris is having –
03:57Matt Olsen homers twice, his first two at-bats,
03:59almost had a third one.
04:00And he's talking about the other opposite of injury-prone,
04:05never gets injured, never misses a game.
04:07It's like he's just a remarkable –
04:09Austin Riley, last night, gets picked.
04:12They had two guys get picked off at first trying to steal.
04:15At first, again.
04:17They lead the majors in this, y'all.
04:19It's just a sloppy –
04:20I don't know what is going on there,
04:21but it's so frustrating.
04:23One for 12 runners in scoring position.
04:27It's inexcusable, those little numbers,
04:28and then you lose in extra innings.
04:30Those are the ones that kind of bite you.
04:32But don't get – come on, come on.
04:34I mean, look at what we –
04:35look at the record.
04:37No, no, I know, but if you want to knit to the pick,
04:40that's what it's about on a night like that.
04:42So, sorry.
04:42I know you were talking about Megan Moran.
04:45Again, you emo cowgirl.
04:46I understand.
04:47Well, no, I'm just saying, like, give context.
04:49If you know I'm at a concert,
04:50and I'm trying not to check my phone,
04:52but then all of a sudden it's like Acuna, WTF,
04:56I don't know what you're saying.
04:58I don't know if he's running to a wall.
05:00That's okay.
05:00I don't know if he's running to a wall.
05:02I don't know what happened.
05:03Me and Rusty and Drew are talking.
05:04It's fine.
05:05You just stay along.
05:05I'm on that thread.

05:25Sunday, Sports Radio 92.9 The Game.
05:27Yeah, the college sports world up in arms about Brendan Sorsby,
05:30the quarterback at Texas Tech.
05:32Yes, that one.
05:33Right?
05:34Yes.
05:36Granted an injunction that he, you know,
05:38the NCAA can't sit him for the year.
05:42I'll just say this,
05:43and we'll play Josh Brooks in a second on David Pollack's show.
05:46The Big 12 ADs were on a call yesterday.
05:51There's no love lost for Texas Tech whatsoever.
05:55They know it is, first of all, you know,
05:59it's a competitive nature.
06:00They've all turned on Texas Tech.
06:02They're embarrassed by the ruling.
06:04Like, if ever in the history of college sports,
06:07a guy should be out and career be over,
06:10he is the definition.
06:12You know, back in the day,
06:13the youngsters don't know.
06:14We used to have encyclopedias, dictionaries.
06:16You'd actually just go to it.
06:17And so, hey, if you went to suspended for the year in the,
06:19you know, in the encyclopedia,
06:21you should see his face.
06:23But that's literally what you should see.
06:24He should be the poster boy for what happens
06:27if you gamble on your team
06:28or you become a gambling addict.
06:30Doesn't mean you can't get help.
06:32Doesn't mean we don't support you.
06:33No different than an alcoholic or a drug addict
06:36or whatever it is.
06:36There's, you know,
06:37everybody listening has so many in their lives
06:39that struggled with some of that at some point, probably.
06:42But it doesn't mean you get to play college football
06:44when you admit all those things
06:46and you're betting under your own name on your own team.
06:48I mean, that's ridiculous.
06:50So there's an entire Big 12 presidents meeting
06:53happening of the universities.
06:56There's another AD meeting happening.
06:58They are going to see what their legal opportunities are
07:01to prevent this kid from playing in their conference.
07:04Right now, there doesn't seem to be any precedent
07:06that they have any wiggle room.
07:08But is there enough PR hit on Texas Tech?
07:11Is there enough vitriol directed
07:14by the fellow athletic directors,
07:16presidents of those universities,
07:17that Texas Tech changes their stance
07:20or decides the smoke is not worth it?
07:22Or do they put their, dig their heels in
07:25and say F you to everybody in the Big 12?
07:28Forget about, you know, Georgia taking shots.
07:31These are all the counterparts in the Big 12.
07:33Going after them, here's Josh Brooks.
07:34So yesterday on David Pollack's show,
07:38kind of dumbling down.
07:39Yeah, see ball, get ball and ask just about it.
07:42And he goes, this is just how it is.
07:44I've got nothing against the young man.
07:46I've got nothing against Texas Tech.
07:47But we've got to stand our ground
07:49for something in this game right now
07:51in terms of we have rules,
07:53we have eligibility guidelines.
07:54If we're going to let local courts
07:56and local states and local courts
07:59determine eligibility,
08:00then we've lost our way.
08:01We can't just have things going court to court,
08:03state to state, county to county
08:05and playing by different rules.
08:06We've got to agree to play
08:07under one uniform set of rules.
08:09So for me, it's an important time
08:10for us to take a stand for that
08:12and find a pathway to move forward
08:14because this isn't going to work.
08:16Yeah, it's never going to be worse
08:18than it's been in the last three to five years.
08:22Absolutely out of control spending
08:23with kids making stupid money.
08:27No restrictions on boosters,
08:28even though they said there's a $20 million cap.
08:30That doesn't exist.
08:31The notion that the NCAA can't win
08:33any court case at any time.
08:35There are no universal rules.
08:37Like, this is the worst it's ever going to be.
08:38And I don't know when it's going to get better,
08:40but it can't get worse.
08:42There are no rules.
08:43There are no rules.
08:43Hmm.
