00:00It's a very good sandwich.
00:01Not kidding, that's what the recipe's called.
00:03I saw a video where this girl got this recipe
00:04from her grandmother's 1920s cookbook.
00:07That's a real thing.
00:08Starting with drained pimentos and black olives
00:10were right around $3.
00:11And this mixture will make at least eight sandwiches.
00:14Then in goes a block of cheddar cheese,
00:16which back then was a protein budget replacement for meat,
00:18along with a couple hard-boiled eggs,
00:20which actually back then were more expensive
00:21than they were a couple years ago.
00:23To tie it all together, a cheap can of tomato sauce.
00:25Scoop this mixture into hot dog buns or wiener rolls,
00:28as the creator calls them.
00:29Wrap them up and bake them at 275
00:31for one to one and a half hours.
00:33That sounds like a long time, but I'm trusting the process.
00:35The good news is, the wax paper is not melted.
00:38I'm both intrigued and petrified at the same time.
00:42That's really good.
00:43Sort of like you took your grilled cheese
00:45and dipped it in tomato soup.
00:47And then the olives are just a nice little surprise
00:49to add a little substance to it.
00:51Maybe a little of a heartier bread
00:53will get this a little less soggy.
00:55The egg kind of gets lost,
00:56so I do think you could double the egg.
00:57It is indeed a very good sandwich.
