00:48call with Lauren Michaels led to the unusual exit. Bowen originally decided not to come back at all
00:53this season, but then Lauren personally called. He says Lauren basically said he needed him
00:58and wanted Bowen to set an example for the new cast. He told him it was very important that he

01:03for the first half of the season. Yang agreed, staying on for the first half, but made his departure
01:09official in December, 2025. He originally joined the cast of SNL in 2019 and was promoted to main cast
01:16cast member in 2021. But being on the show interfered with his rising star status. When he was cast in
01:22both Wicked movies, his schedule with Saturday Night Live almost jeopardized the role. Ariana Grande
01:27herself says she had to personally call Lauren to get permission for Bowen to join the Wicked films.
01:32Even with that, Bowen had to fly back and forth from New York City to London every week to do

01:38He said it took a major toll on his mental and physical health. Adding to his busy schedule,
01:43Bowen's podcast, Los Culturistas, co-hosted by his comedy bestie Matt Rogers, has taken off.
