06:27The Texas Tech Star quarterback was granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA that
06:34could clear the way for him to be able to play for the Red Raiders in 2026, even after
06:39the transfer quarterback was declared ineligible for wagering on college sports.
06:45Judge Ken Curry ruled that Soresby, the attorney, demonstrated that he will suffer a probable, imminent,
06:53irreparable injury if he's unable to play for the Red Raiders in 2026.
06:58Soresby will miss Texas Tech's first two games, which was a penalty that has been proposed by
07:06his attorneys.
07:07He was ruled ineligible, Clint, for wagering approximately $90,000 on professional and
07:14college sports over four years, including 40 bets involving Indiana football when he
07:19was a freshman with the Hoosiers in 2022.
07:23The NCAA denies Texas Tech's appeal for reinstatement on Friday.
07:28But, Clint, it looks like he could have a chance to play.

08:08athletics, creating great concern amongst our membership.

08:18He's been consulting, the commissioner that he is, with key stakeholders and have scheduled
08:22meetings with the conference ADs and executive board this week.
08:25We're also in touch with Charlie Baker and anticipate the NCAA to appeal the order in the next 24
08:30to 48 hours.
08:31We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation.

09:16If you go on and you have a college football playoff year and you have a national championship
09:20year with him playing and then they come out and say he was ineligible, then you'd have
09:25to forfeit all of those games.
09:26So slippery, slippery slope right now.

09:37He was the number one quarterback this year in the transfer portal and came down between,
09:41I believe, LSU and Texas Tech, the two biggest players in the quarterback needy pool of teams
09:48that could potentially be national championship caliber teams.
09:51And yeah, so I mean, there's a lot of money on the line.
09:54I would imagine that that's probably as much as playing this season with $5 to $6 million
10:01on the line, that's probably just as much in play here.

10:07Or is this an attempt to salvage as much of that particular money as you can?

10:15It's a super slippery slope for the quarterback, the team, the Texas Tech, and the NCAA, and

10:22So we'll see how they handle it.
10:24But it's just another, this is the kind of stuff that is, you know, I was going back and
10:31forth on social media the last few days about this NIL stuff.

10:36And when Nick Saban's speaking about, like, it's pretty black and white, man.

10:46I mean, there's thousands and thousands and thousands of college athletes that in the past
10:52have gotten opportunities to play.

10:55It's an unsustainable, let's say it's a model, it's not a model.

11:03And people always come back and go, oh, well, coaches need to get paid less.

11:09You know, this is just another example of if you don't start putting guardrails in place,
11:15whether you're talking NIL, transfer, gambling, if somebody doesn't take control of college
11:20athletics better than the NCAA has and does currently, then it's just going to continue
11:26to snowball the wrong direction until it's too late.
