00:00Aaron, you know this because you answer questions all the time and you recognize the tenor and
00:04frequency of the questions that right now your polarizing player is Anthony Volpe.
00:08What is it that you see that your angry fans don't see about Anthony Volpe?
00:16Well, I see talent. I see a tough kid that works his butt off that's not afraid of that noise.
00:23He hasn't found his way to the level he expects yet that we expect him to get to.
00:30But he's also still a very young player that has had a lot of real success.
00:35People have wanted to go faster or quicker or him to be at a higher level.
00:40But baseball is it's not always like that.
00:43I think sometimes here we can run guys out kind of quick just because it's not as fast or as
00:51expected as people want it.
00:53I believe in the person, in his kind of his will and his ability.
00:58And look, I think this year so far, I think he's played really well at short for us.
01:03But I think generally speaking, his at-bats have been, for the most part, day in and day out pretty
01:08well.
01:08Like yesterday's a good example.
01:09Like he comes up with the bases loaded, gets in a 3-1 count, hits the ball to right center,
01:15you know, OK.
01:15Like, it's kind of a good at-bat.
01:18And it's just like, I hear the boo, like, it's like somebody else would have hit it in the gap.
01:26Like, you know, like, so it's like, be honest with what you're seeing.
01:30Like, is he having some good at-bats?
01:32Is he having some struggles too?
01:34Is he playing his butt off at shortstop?
01:37Kind of, yeah, yeah to a lot of that.
01:39We all want him to continue to get better and get to another level as a hitter and more consistent
01:45all around.
01:46But it's our job to help work with him to get to that point.
