00:00Right next up for the back or banish treatment we're talking Cobra and with
00:03specifically rails on stairway woods. Now this started way back in 1975 with
00:10Cobra Baffler stairway wood and you can see that one back in the day
00:14had two brass rails on the sole which essentially helped the club glide
00:18through the turf, stop it from digging too much and almost acted like a rudder in
00:21terms of stabilising the face through the ground to keep it square, get better
00:25turf interaction, hopefully better distance and accuracy at the other end.
00:29And it was pretty widely adopted on tour at the time and Cobra stuck with it on
00:34and off from then all the way up to sort of 2011 and I remember using my Cobra
00:39Rad Speed forward in 2021 which had rails on the sole. I really liked it, I felt
00:44like it just gave me much cleaner interaction with the turf, just helped
00:47the ball pop out of those slightly cuppy lines where it's sitting down a little
00:51bit. So for me the rails worked, I'm not sure why it wasn't widely adopted with
00:56other brands, maybe Cobra had the pattern on it and they weren't able to,
00:59but obviously Cobra have sort of stopped using rails now on their Fairwoods at the
01:03moment with the Optim range for example. So clearly they're not perfect, they're not
01:07for everyone but for me I'd bring them back. I think they're very effective
01:10especially if your ball striking is a little bit iffy with Fairwoods off the deck,
01:14they really work for me and I'll definitely bring them back.
