00:00Ukrainian forces say they have recaptured more than 600 square kilometers of territory so far
00:06this year, in what appears to be a shift in momentum after years of Russian advances.
00:11Ukraine's top military commander said around 100 square kilometers were regained in May alone.
00:20He added that Ukrainian forces are still carrying out offensives in some areas along the front line,
00:25which stretches more than 1,000 kilometers.
00:28Russian forces, however, are still trying to push forward in the east and south.
00:32Independent monitors said it is hard to verify claims on territorial changes,
00:37but note that Russian advances have slowed in recent months amid intense drone warfare.
00:43Separately, the European Union has released nearly 2.8 billion euros in financial support for Ukraine,
00:49linked to progress on reforms and its broader push towards EU membership.
