Most local trades businesses try to rank one page for every service they offer. Instead, your homepage should target your main service:

* Roofer in [Location]
* Plumber in [Location]
* Electrician in [Location]
* Builder in [Location]

Then create dedicated pages for the individual services you want to rank for. This gives Google a much clearer understanding of your website and improves your chances of ranking locally. Most trades websites are far too broad.

00:00Most local trades businesses have no idea that the homepage of their website is losing
00:04them customers simply due to the fact it's targeting the wrong keywords.
00:08Let me explain.
00:09Your homepage should target your main keyword.
00:12So if you're a roofer in London, your homepage should target Roofers London, Roofer London,
00:17Roofing Services London.
00:18That is your main service.
00:20Then your secondary pages target the specific services.
00:23So you'd have pages for flat roofing, roof repairs, roof terraces, emergency roofing,
00:29and so on.
00:29And this is the same for any trade business.
00:31So if you're a plumber, your homepage targets plumber London, and then your service pages
00:35target boiler repairs, boiler installations, 24 hour plumbers, and again, so on.
00:41So you target your main service on the homepage and use secondary pages for the rest.
00:44That's how you structure a local service website properly.
