00:00Here we go then, Monaco Grand Prix in 2026, ladies and gentlemen, 78 laps to come, who's going to lead
00:08the opening lap, who's going to win?
00:10It's lights out and away we go, Antonelli gets away, well, Leclerc gets away brilliantly, Max has stalled on the
00:17grid, it's Antonelli who leads from Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc and Isaac Hamter and George Russell,
00:21and Piastri and Norris going wheel to wheel, Piastri ahead of Norris who got compromised and Pierre Gasly is now
00:27trying to make the overtake going up through Beau Ravage and I think he manages to do it on Norris.
00:32Pierre Gasly managed to get that overtake done, making his way up the hill at Beau Ravage and he's now
00:38putting pressure on Gasly.
00:40Just bring it home please, Max.
00:43Max Verstappen we can see now, they are not ready to change the tyres, they are not looking to change
00:48the tyres and I think Max Verstappen is out of the Monaco Grand Prix.
00:54What that means then, you stretch the pack and you make, you open up gaps.
00:58George Russell did look like he was a little bit too far forward, forward on there.
01:04That's a problem.
01:04So into Sandovot we go and Max Verstappen is already out of the picture and Antonelli just streaking away there
01:12and there we can see the move Gasly on Norris.
01:15Yeah, Norris is around the outside of Piastri but had to get out of it because he was too close
01:18to the barrier.
01:19George was angling his car as well and Max just getting bogged, bogged down.
01:25I tell you what, they did incredibly well not to smash into the back of him.
01:29Oh, nice.
01:30Completely **** guys, what the **** man.
01:36Oh, that must be the worst, worst feeling.
01:39No further investigation, George Russell for a false start and being out of position.
01:44He did look a little bit far forward, he was certainly angled a bit but the stewards have said that's
01:48absolutely fine so no penalty coming his way.
01:51They've obviously seen there was some kind of contact patch of his front toe.
01:54This is going to be scary for Norris because he...
01:58Oh, and Lando certainly thought that it was a problem and then, oh, there's Max not going.
02:02So, Lando very good on the brakes around the outside but now he's going to get pinched up against the
02:08barrier by Oscar Piastri's teammate and this is where Gasly steams past on the right-hand side and that sort
02:14of, that few seconds can wreck your afternoon.
02:17It's Hadjar's pace, is it preventing him from opening a nice clear pit window?
02:22Ideally, he would like to come out ahead of the McLaren's.
02:25We've got our second retiree from this race, Valtteri Bottas into the pits after being told that they need to
02:30cool the car down and to box overheating issues maybe on the brakes for the camera.
02:35With Hadjar from the Red Bull pit wall to see if they can help him with his problems.
02:41Hadjar's gone straight over onto the runoff area.
02:44Now George Russell is going to close up.
02:46George Russell looking for a way through on the inside and what will follow, I'm sure, in a couple of
02:52moments is a radio message from George Russell saying he cut the chicane, he gained an advantage.
02:56That's a lasting advantage.
02:58He can't keep it on the trust, he needs to get the position up.
03:00Copy.
03:02If it's outbraking himself, we don't want no tyres.
03:06That takes even more pressure off Mercedes.
03:09It's got no power now, no power, no battery, got nothing.
03:14Do the default again please, white default 7-0 again.
03:18He's going to be presenting the trophies to potentially the young Prince of Monaco.
03:23Oh, has that been going to catch the chicane.
03:25We're going to box this lap and retire the car, we're going to box the lap and retire the car.
03:30Oh, and that power unit issue that Zac Brown was telling us about is going to cause Lando Norris, last
03:38year's winner, last year's world champion, to retire from the Monaco Grand Prix.
03:44George Russell, I think, had got past Lando Norris there.
03:47He was already slowing down.
03:48Something's wrong.
03:49Through the tunnel.
03:50I got nothing.
03:51My battery.
03:53That's why they retired the car when they did, because the battery, and it's the battery again for Lando Norris.
04:00And nothing going his way from FP1 onwards.
04:03And both Williams into the World Championship points at the moment as well.
04:07That would be very welcome for them, wouldn't it?
04:09Yeah, and now Carlos Sainz has been told to swap positions with Alex Albon.
04:14Queuing up, chomping at the bit to get past Alex Albon.
04:19Yeah, we'll be too f***ing smart with him, guys.
04:22Yeah, okay.
04:23I don't want to tell you, I'm kidding.
04:26What he's saying is you're...
04:28Alex Albon can probably hear the drivers behind him shouting whatever they're shouting.
04:32As there goes for it, Arvid Lindblad.
04:34Brilliant from Arvid Lindblad.
04:36Opportunist move from him.
04:38Hülkenberg can't quite get past.
04:40But Alex Albon putting on the handbrake.
04:42And the anchor for his teammate has been passed.
04:45His position was at risk.
04:46And it's been replaced.
04:48That that they will be saying to Alex Albon to give him some sort of relief will be
04:51Arvid Lindblad has still got to pit.
04:55But the key now, Alex Albon actually went straight through the chicane there, didn't he?
04:59Now he's got to let him back through somehow.
05:00Now a stroll on the final corner has stopped.
05:03And Anthony knows he's gone into the barriers.
05:05That's why we've got a yellow flag.
05:07And Kimi Antonelli is just coming up to the swimming pool chicane.
05:12I wonder if we're going to need at least a safety car here.
05:16So, Lewis has now served.
05:19So he just locks his brakes, I think, goes in here.
05:22Let's have a look.
05:23Final corner, Anthony knows.
05:26Oh, got the marbles, didn't he?
05:28Yeah.
05:29Just off the racing line, got off the marbles, crashed at about 47 miles an hour.
05:34Charles Leclerc is out.
05:36Charles Leclerc has gone into the barriers.
05:38And that happened at the final corner.
05:40Said the tyres were cold.
05:41Did he get on the marbles?
05:43Did that cost Charles Leclerc there?
05:44But he's definitely out of his home race.
05:47We're going to get another safety car.
05:49And it's all gone wrong for Charles Leclerc on lap 66 of the Monaco.
05:55Charles Leclerc, let's have a little look at what happened here.
05:59Cold tyres, cold brakes.
06:00He was urging the safety car to go a bit faster.
06:02Lewis Hamilton locked up ahead of him.
06:05Where's that left front tyre?
06:06There's a bit of resurfaced tarmac on the left-hand side, Martin.
06:10I'd like to see that on board again.
06:12Honestly, I'm not going to take the blame.
06:17This brake.
06:20Look at the tarmac he gets on, which looks like it's breaking up a little bit, to be fair.
06:25There's adrenaline.
06:26Oh, we're going to red flag this race.
06:28They're going to red flag this race.
06:30And I wonder if this is to do with the final corner.
06:34Charles Leclerc's Ferrari has been cleared.
06:37So the marshals have done a great job to remove that car.
06:41And the race director has now decided we need to stop this race.
06:46Three-inch crucial on any given Sunday.
06:49Here we are once again in Monaco.
06:51Our second start of the afternoon.
06:54We're racing to lap 78.
06:57It's lights out and away we go.
06:59Hamilton reacts quicker.
07:00Antonelli is away well, though.
07:02And there goes Kimi Antonelli into the lead.
07:05Lewis Hamilton second.
07:06George Russell third.
07:07Pierre Gasly's ahead of Isaac Hadjar.
07:09Slow start from him.
07:10He's lost two places.
07:12He's now got Oscar Piastri swarming all over him.
07:14And towards Massonet we go.
07:16Brilliant move from Hulkenberg.
07:18But he tags Carlos Sainz.
07:20And the Williams is out.
07:21And his 100% point-scoring record here.
07:23Comes to an end at the restart.
07:25Hulkenberg.
07:26At what happened at the hairpin.
07:28And watch here.
07:29Down the inside.
07:30Hulkenberg spies a gap.
07:33Yeah.
07:33And then Sainz is then right in his way.
07:38Yeah.
07:38Sainz was going around the outside and sort of cut back in a little bit.
07:42A very unfortunate contact for the pair of them there.
07:44I think the Colopinto contact on Sainz happens later on down at Portier.
07:53Down the inside here.
07:56That's original contact for Carlos Sainz.
08:00Yeah.
08:00So Hulkenberg was avoiding an accident initially.
08:03Here we go again.
08:04Now watch Colopinto.
08:06And there's two taps.
08:07That's why Carlos Sainz was facing the other way.
08:10If Albon's front axle was ahead of Hulkenberg's front axle,
08:14then Hulkenberg will have to give him that place back.
08:18Will give him the place indeed.
08:20Fernando Alonso at the rear there in P13.
08:23As George Russell comes in to serve his penalty.
08:26Up into third place goes Gasly, Hadjar, Piastri, Lawson, Linblad, Hulkenberg, Albon, Ocon.
08:32All into the points.
08:34And George Russell is now out of the points.
08:39He built his way up.
08:40Slowly but surely.
08:42But there's been nothing slow about him.
08:44Where the lights went out today.
08:46Kimi Antonelli got his foot to the floor.
08:48He survived the restarts.
08:50He survived the safety cars.
08:52He comes home to win in Monaco.
08:54Kimi Antonelli makes it five Grand Prix victories in a row.
08:59Piastri has definitely fallen.
09:01Liam Lawson is an equal best place finish in Formula One for him.
09:06Fifth from Arvid Linblad, who changed his tyres during that red flag for a best finish of sixth.
09:13Nice work there, pal.
09:15That was a master class, mate.
09:17First Monaco win.
09:19Woohoo!
09:23Oh my God.
09:25Yeah, a bit tense at the end there, mate.
09:26Bit tense at the end.
09:27But yeah, what a great job.
09:30Thank you so much, guys.
09:33Car was a beast today.
09:35My goodness, thank you so much.
09:38Great job there, mate.
09:39Great job.
09:42Thank you so much.
