00:00I take your point when it comes to qualifying they seem to be the calmest drivers at the moment

00:04but Lando Norris is a driver who has paced we know he has paced that Sauber's going to have

00:15single lap pace it just kind of needs to deliver it this weekend just he does he does this is a

00:20high pressure situation for him because obviously he's he's taken some good points out of Moscow the

00:25last couple of races but some of it was down to getting a little bit lucky I would have to say

00:29with the safety car but no we need to see something more from from Lando in qualifying I think here

00:34recognize that you know what the fans oh he's touched about it has gone into the barrier on the

00:41entry into the swimming pool chicane and you heard the noise before you saw the car and that is a red

00:48flag understandably uh well we waited about 10 minutes for the red flag in FP1 we've waited seven

00:55minutes for the red flag in FP2 that is a typical Monaco kind of accident Jenson Barton where you're just

01:03pushing trying to find that extra little bit of margin and you either get it right or in that case

01:09you get it a bit scrappy yeah he did and that's uh oh that's a hefty hit on the rear end that's

01:14probably he's so angry with himself um I mean the the biggest issue is should I try to bring it yes

01:22yes yes you know these cars are big now and you it's so difficult to not touch a wall but the apex

01:32ones are always the worst because you bounce off it really hard just missed it with the front left

01:38didn't miss it with the rear I think he was a bit unsettled coming in because watching him when

01:43we had the onboard camera or the sorry front facing camera he was on the curb on the right hand side

01:48which you don't want to be really and I think that's it's upset the car a little bit on turning

01:52he's just misjudged it a bit they didn't flinch I was just about to say that those marshals there

02:00did not move a muscle when Isaac Hadja hit the barrier bravo wow ice in their veins that was

02:20and Max Verstappen but Oscar Piastri has got the fastest middle sector and as Hulkenberg goes seventh

02:26Piastri goes to the top and he's put a big distance between himself and Max Verstappen the man who was

02:32fastest in FP1 think about the go fastest here in FP2 see all the last sectors like it's all slow

02:38pretty much half a second clear of Oscar Piastri they'll be standing in the grandstands again as Oscar

02:46Piastri goes into the barrier at Sandovats where often drivers lock up and do a little shimmy to the

02:54left to take the escape route that didn't happen for Piastri second red flag of this session and

03:01he's lost a front wing as you can see he's gonna have to go around the whole lap without one now he's

03:05also lost a set of tyres Oscar are you okay yes bring the car back very carefully there are Monaco accidents and

03:16there are Monaco accidents and that is a fairly atypical one isn't it's such a difficult one because at one moment in time you have to decide

03:24do I go left down the runoff area or can I make it and it's just a little bit too late he was thinking

03:30about going left but he was going in too hot how do you continue to go left car would have spun round

03:37yeah the point that he locked up at that stage you're then sliding you know you haven't got steering

03:45anymore you're just steering one way so for him to have come off the brake he would have just had an

03:50impact at a higher speed and taken off a corner probably yeah I had to do the Monaco tribute helmet

03:55here fair enough rather than save it for Brazil

04:06I know it's really practice but for me that's just unacceptable that kind of

04:11impeding it's so dangerous in that swimming pool

04:13I would say one in 20 cars that are coming through here are missing the chicane the nouvelle chicane

04:23I hate calling it turn 10 because it's way better than that so a lot of action and there goes the Mercedes to prove the point

04:31there goes the LP to prove another point

04:34trying to find some clear track oh a bit of debris on the track

04:38in my front wing I should have said yeah that that needs to be just removed a little bit

04:55well to be honest I thought he took a little bit of curb there

05:02and then obviously there was a Red Bull backing up to try and make a gap in front of him

05:07oh and he actually hit the wall that was uh yeah and the thing is he's getting in the lap and going

05:14bang first lap with the tire which puts him in good stead because when we get to qualifying

05:18it won't be the third or fifth lap especially when you get through q2 into q3 it's gonna be bang

05:23getting it done on lap one and he's got the confidence to do that whereas other people have

05:27to find that confidence I don't know if hustling is a verb but that was really hustling from

05:32charles mercedes are currently close the rear kicked out of line coffee the first part of the

05:40swimming pool he caught it but I think he touched the wall there might have scraped it that's the second

05:45run those two curves you can see that you can hear it that that the vibration is just yeah that was a lot of

05:59so distracting coming through there that time I can smell the floor of the car burning there's a bump there you can see where the

06:07floors of the cars are hitting the racetrack maybe another soft tie although did they do their runs a little bit

06:12earlier uh and therefore uh you won't see them in the top five because the track hadn't evolved by that

06:17we've got a race on our hands lawson behind hamilton q radio message yeah guys look loose i don't know

06:41oh he snatched the front and that but still made the apex and he just a little bit of under rotation

06:48then he actually turned in more when he locked the front he actually turned more to make sure he made the

06:54corner uh this is just hazarding a little bit of a guess but if you were towards the back end of the

06:59field taking that early stop exactly what you said that one may be a good thing to do because you get a free

07:04pit stop you can probably close back into the field i'd much rather be a fifth to tenth than i would be

07:0911th to 13th if that helps well yeah no fair enough on that one uh james we're gonna have to leave it

08:19fridays and then inevitably qualifying that gets swapped around so let's see how that unfolds but

08:25ferrari is a big story even though by the way oscar piastri now we miss that he's only 38 thousands

08:31behind there's been plenty of yellow and red flags blue and white flying in this session oh he's got

09:37as he was this morning slow as he was earlier slowest driver lance stroll didn't get a great lap in

09:44in fp1 because of the accident with charlotte claire and he picked up a one place grid penalty as a result

09:51of that ollie behrman's going to see the stewards because of a red flag infringement and that is your
