00:00well we have 19 laps coming your way there's the man with the green flag

00:05we're all set for the sprint here in shanghai

00:08it's lights out and away we go hamilton with a better reaction time

00:12and already piastri is coming at verstappen verstappen's coming at lewis

00:16hamilton who leads into the first turn on the inside charles leclerc just gets

00:20a bit compromised by piastri and going around the outside that's

00:23george russell with lando norris for company

00:25but hamilton leads as he did in the early stages of the sprint last year

00:29here in shanghai and it's max verstappen right behind him

00:33and norris tried to get around the outside of george russell it did not

00:36work so they're pretty much in grid order

00:38as they head down towards turn six and that's norris getting

00:42well out of shape on the outside the championship leader

00:45losing two places where norris if you can see in the second

00:49of the mclarens trying to go around the outside of george russell

00:53and we're about to see what happened to norris

00:56so yeah he got right on there he didn't lock up as much

01:00like tires on the dirt and that is what cost norris

01:04his two places down there we're going to see it again now

01:08uh he didn't need to be out there lando did not need to be out there nobody was

01:12pushing him out there were they on board now

01:14with the red bull the rebel in second place

01:17of max verstappen and he's gaining on hamilton so is hamilton starting

01:21how's everyone else's track

01:25so visually yours do look slightly worse than people

01:29but then i need some help don't i because i'm just driving so slow and

01:32killing the time

01:35look at this martin top three separated by one and a half seconds when they

01:39cross the line yeah and we've got four different chassis

01:43in the top four that's going to be the story of

01:45what i know is going to be an epic season of formula one racing

01:49as it ebbs and flows through the different circuit layouts and

01:52temperatures and challenges that are facing us but that's worrying

01:57them we we were wondering why lando is falling away from the aston martin

02:02he's damaged his front left already front left grading it's a clockwise

02:06circuit he actually was 2.2 off the lead a while ago he's now 1.8 off the lead

02:12don't count him out for a victory yet still plenty of time as verstappen goes

02:15very wide at the hairpin trying to slow the car

02:19down just for one moment oscar piastri thought a gap was emerging but he

02:23backed off and he's going to get drs down that back straight now he's got

02:27enough top line speed that could be an overtake into the

02:30hairpin here comes the racing bulls on carlos sainz he's really struggling out

02:33there in the williams and that's a fairly

02:36simple overtake for isaac hadger and liam lawson

02:39might make it two moves that is made on carlos sainz in the one corner

02:43he does picks up the pieces and moves ahead as carlos sainz is told to

02:48pit as well how can we help do you have any pace

02:52no no i'm flat out

02:57that's a worry for lando norris it really is

03:01but once again piastri down the main straights

03:04comes off that final corner a lot better than the red bull

03:08and makes an impression but coming out of the

03:11the turn 13 he's not getting close enough to the staff

03:14starts lap 14 in the lead here comes piastri and verstappen

03:18verstappen's going to try and force him the long way rounds i think piastri saw

03:22that coming this is defensive mode for the world champion max verstappen

03:27under all sorts of pressure going into that first corner

03:30yeah he sort of moved in didn't he moved into the zone

03:34down the back straight but max saw it coming in today closed him off

03:38moved it wasn't a late move it was a fair move by max

03:47out in front hamilton now two and a half seconds clear

03:50in the ferrari piastri ever closer than going on to the back straight now he'll

03:55get the rear wing open this is his big chance here he comes

03:58oscar piastri on max verstappen both of them suffering

04:02with their tires verstappen probably suffering a bit more piastri on the

04:05inside takes that second place from the reigning world champion mclaren

04:10move up a place of verstappen drops down to third place and we can

04:14see once again how piastri sorted this move out knew

04:18where he was going made his mind up early

04:20verstappen couldn't defend max was super super fear there

04:24you know sometimes we talk about uh his tactics but

04:27uh he was he was almost generous i would say

04:30but he knew he didn't have any tools to really

04:33fight going into that hairpin because there are a lot of people

04:37who said that lewis would last less than a year

04:41at ferrari and it was a terrible mistake lando norris after making a mistake in

04:46the early stages gets a place back and moves into the

04:51points and as you said martin every point

04:53is precious this season in what should be a really really tight battle

04:57so norris now up to eighth and you can see a front wings

05:00length between the two cars and russell's in real trouble

05:0530 is that drivable i cannot start the car at all

05:11that might be a bit of an old message because it looks pretty drivable now as

05:15into the hairpin we go wheel to wheel the claire has to just

05:18back off a little bit russell manages to stay in front

05:21lewis hamilton moved teams over the winter arrived at

05:24ferrari in style and has hit the ground running in

05:28shanghai to win the sprint in style in scarlet red lewis hamilton wins for

05:34ferrari for the first time and that very much suits you sir

05:39in second place oscar piastri decent drive from him max verstappen couldn't

05:44fend off the mclaren finishes third it is george russell holding off charles

05:48leclerc for fifth yuki sonoda still holding off the

05:52challenge of kimmy antonelli to finish sixth

05:55antonelli seventh and lando norris takes a point

05:58to finish eighth just ahead of lance stroll and the new era for lewis

06:02hamilton at the second race of asking is off and

06:06running he's a winner in the scarlet red

06:12there you go martin he's a winner again and in a sprint race for the first time

06:16lewis hamilton takes the victory it's a b1 maybe a huge amount
