00:01Interceptor drone companies in Ukraine have figured out how to keep their pilots out of harm's way.
00:18We've come to a very secretive site in Kyiv region to be granted access to a wild hornets training zone.
00:27Now these are perhaps some of the best known, most prolific and certainly most effective
00:31of the interceptor drone manufacturers currently in Ukraine.
00:35The distance between pilot and drone is usually limited by the range of radio frequency control.
00:41This can be tens of kilometers.
00:43But here in Ukraine that means that the operators are increasingly becoming targets
00:48as Russian reconnaissance drones fill the sky.
00:51It's not important from the distance, from the border, like with the enemy.
00:56We need to be able to contact with a mask.
00:59The more advanced development, the more advanced drones are aimed at the PPO.
01:05Wild Hornets have come up with an answer.
01:07Drones controlled via a satellite link, meaning the pilot can be anywhere.
01:13This footage shows a pilot controlling a wild hornet interceptor from a location outside Ukraine.
01:21Now we're working on trying to work with other countries, not only from Ukraine.
01:27Wild Hornets say that with a handful of pilots using this technology,
01:32they would be able to defend a large part of Ukraine's airspace.
01:35Much needed as Russia steps up its aerial assault on Ukraine.
