रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन ने भारत की स्वतंत्र विदेश नीति और वैश्विक भूमिका की खुलकर सराहना की है। सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग इंटरनेशनल इकोनॉमिक फोरम (SPIEF) 2026 में बोलते हुए पुतिन ने कहा कि भारत उन देशों में शामिल है जो किसी बाहरी शक्ति के दबाव या आदेश पर नहीं चलते और हमेशा अपने राष्ट्रीय हितों के आधार पर फैसले लेते हैं। उन्होंने भारत और रूस के संबंधों को भरोसे, सम्मान और भाईचारे पर आधारित बताया। पुतिन ने भारतीय प्रतिभा, शिक्षा व्यवस्था और विशेष रूप से आईटी एवं तकनीकी क्षेत्र में भारतीय पेशेवरों की उपलब्धियों की भी प्रशंसा की। उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय विशेषज्ञों ने दुनिया भर में अपनी अलग पहचान बनाई है। रूस ने भारत को अपना महत्वपूर्ण रणनीतिक साझेदार बताते हुए दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार और सहयोग को और बढ़ाने की प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई। पुतिन ने विश्वास जताया कि भारत-रूस व्यापार आने वाले वर्षों में 100 अरब डॉलर तक पहुंच सकता है।
