00:00America will never again give up the moon.
00:02That brings us to the next step, building the moon base.
00:06It should not really surprise anyone that we are pausing Gateway in its current form
00:10and focusing on infrastructure that supports sustained operations on the lunar surface.
00:16Despite some of the very real hardware and schedule challenges,
00:19we can repurpose equipment and international partner commitments
00:22to support surface and other program objectives.
00:25Now, regardless of the pathway,
00:26NASA will invest the limited budget available over the years
00:29to work with commercial providers to build the future LUEO presence,
00:33which includes maturing capabilities,
00:35expanding commercial opportunities through the PAM program,
00:38while creating what we hope is an achievable glide path
00:41to commercially operated space stations.
00:43The International Space Station has served humanity well,
00:45but it will not operate forever.
00:47The transition to commercial stations must be thoughtful
00:50and set up industry for success.
00:52As we move forward, we intend to launch Artemis III in 2027
00:56to test the integrated operations of Orion
00:58and one or both lunar landers in Earth orbit.
01:02Expectations are rightfully very high.
01:04The taxpayers and their representatives in Congress
01:07should demand accountability from every vendor,
01:09every leader, every CEO,
01:11if those expectations are not met.
